When I am typing in the messaging application, I find that many of my key presses are ignored, seeming as though I am not able to spell or use proper punctiation, even though I have actually tapped the correct keys.
My messages might look like the following:
"Thaks fo your message. I was nt able to take the call at th time buI will be avaiable after 6pm. Thanks again!"
This is really annoying. It ONLY happens in the messaging application. I can type an entire document in Word without a single problem but I correct numerous mistakes in emails and text messages in order to avoid looking like a moron to recipients of my messages.
Is there anything I can do to correct this problem? I am using the Black Edition ROM right now and thought that this version fixed the problem. I also Experienced it with the LVSW versions and the other before that. I did not experience it in WM5 at all...

I have the exact error with all the WM6 roms, very very frustrating
I too sometimes get this problem, normally at the start of a text if I start typing quickly. it doesn't happen all the time tho only occasionally. using the lvsw rom at the moment but also had it with the SA WM5 rom
I've got this problem too, but in WM5.
same here on WMXL 0.2
I have noticed this on other WM5 devices but never on the Hermes until now. Is there something that changed in the messaging application that can be changed back to the way it was in WM5...hopefully via a registry edit?

I had this problem but it went away after I selected the option to have word completion only select words after typing six letters. If you have it set to do it after pressing the space bar it seems to cause a delay in typing the text after a key press.
I agree with nmonger, I have alleviated the problem by setting the autocomplete to only suggest after 3 letters (it was set to "a space" before). Also I have made it only suggest 2 words (it was set to 4).
I had this from day 1, it`s just not designed to work that fast...
i hope it`s a driver problem and not keyboard hardware problem.

So far this seems to have solved my problem. Thanks!
I knew it had something to do with the word completion. I set it to suggest 1 word but it keeps suggesting four. I just changed it to after 3 letters and solved my problem. Thank you for pointing that out. Now i don't look drunk when messaging at 11am!
Thank the man above someone else is having this issue as well....trying the word completion trick and seeing what happens.
worked for me - great solutions thanks
BINGO! an obvious solution in hindsight... thanks
cheers for that guys, it was one of those things that had bugged me for a while but not enough for me to look for a fix untill someone else mentioned it.

Worked for me
I was just thinking about how often I had this issue today. I was SURE I was pressing all the keys. I tried turning word completion off and that didn't seem to change anything (strange). I'll give changing it to 6 a try, that makes sense.
I have noticed this problem on the Dash, Blackjack, Universal, and a few other Windows Mobile devices...all WM 5 and newer. This is the first time I have seen a solution. I don't think this worked on any of those devices and that is why I posted. I thought there was going to be a more complicated fix on this phone too!
What really stuns me is the lack of complaining about the skipping issue on other devices, such as those that I mentioned, as I am sure I am not the only one who sees this happening on multiple devices.
I thought it was all down to me being lazy, a bad speller and having thumbs too big for the small keyboard.
Trying the solution and all seems well so far.
thanks a lot, it's working
Hey all, long time reader, first time poster. I have been having an issue with my Evo and I thought someone in here may have a suggestion for me. I searched around the web and on this forum and couldn't find anything related to my issue.
I am currently rooted running Fresh 3.5 ROM. The issue I'm having has happened pre and post root. Often when I open applications, and especially when I open something under the notification window, my phone automatically switches to landscape view, even though I am holding it in portrait mode. This keeps happening over and over and I'm not sure what to do. I tried re-calibrating the G-Sensor several times, but it is still doing it. Any suggestions? THanks in advance!

That's weird. Remember that some apps open default to landscape (though not very many)
Step one: Reboot. That should fix it.
Step two: Menu>settings>display>Auto-rotate screen << uncheck that
Step thee: Install a switch app like switchpro from the marketplace that allows a toggle orientation switch.
Thanks for the suggestions, I will give them a try!
Oh man, this is annoying.
I've searched in the forums and googled it, but I can't seem to get any more help.
I am running LP, and suddenly (started about 2 hours ago), my homescreens seems to move of their own accord.
I swipe all the way to the right, LP will swipe back 2 screens.
I pull down the notification bar, and it looks like it's selecting stuff for me.
I don't have trackball scrolling selected, I rather think it's either a dirty optical mouse, or something else entirely.
The optical button looks clear...
Anyone else have this and did it just go on it's own ???
It's usually a dirty track pad. try blowing in it or use some compressed air. Happens to me from time to time as well.
Yep, this has happened to me as well and just cleaning the screen fixes the problem.
It might not be a dirty trackpad though. I know on the Eris that screen swiping is a known issue and isn't resolved by cleaning the trackball/screen. I've seen it happen a couple times on my Incredible before, and since I got it replaced for my blown speaker I haven't seen it once. Hopefully it's not a malfunction on yours though. Just my input.
Clean the screen and the trackpad really good.
I couldn't have read this at a better time! This just happened to me as I opened the thread, almost restored an old nandroid to fix it, thanks for the tip, totally fixed!
I've tried searching but didn't find anything so sorry if it has been addressed already somewhere else. Every single GB ROM that I've used has an issue where the left side of the screen doesn't register when touching it. I never had this problem with any Froyo ROM and only happens when I'm using GB and I've tried all the ROM's. It doesn't happen all the time but comes and goes. It is most annoying when trying to type a message using the virtual keyboard and having the screen not register that I'm trying to use the "a" for example. Makes typing a message a pain and I end up having to just use the slide out keyboard instead. Opening apps on the left side of the screen also is a problem since the screen isn't registering the touch so the app can't be opened till it starts working again.
Has anyone else had or have heard of this type of problem or know of anyway to fix it? Or it is possible that I just have a bad phone that doesn't like to play nice with GB? I appreciate any help that anyone may be able to provide because I love GB but it's very annoying having this happen so I have to stay on a Froyo ROM. Thanks!
Hi all,
I think I've have a multitouch problem on my nexus 5x. The issue happens when I move two near fingers on touchscreen (digitizer?). After some tests with yamtt (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rn.yamtt&hl=it) the results are in this video:
http://it.tinypic.com/player.php?v=zlfe46&s=9
In this video I'm simply swiping, at first, with far fingers, then put them together and go swiping more. I don't think it works as intended! or it happens only to my device?
Before testing with yamtt, I saw that when the fingers were too near on keyboard in writing words, sometimes the app (swiftkey) returned a key never pressed (example, just to show what i mean, it's not actually something i wrote: home6works, with 6 never pressed), so I suspected something wrong.
So, please if someone can do the same test on his N5X and post the results, I'd be grateful. Thank you in advance.
Regards.
