I wonder what all the fuss is. Xda-Developers seems to have been getting a search spike in the last month. I wonder if it is because of the HTC Diamond, or just because we Senior Members are that good, lol.

For the life of me I can't understand why noobs are so impatiant and stupid to put it mildly, as Jasjamming put it "they want to have their cake and eat it"
Look at me I've been member since 2005 and I'm still classed as Junior Member (noob) (personally I would class my-self as being advanced user but hey who cares) and if you look at my profile since becoming a member I've only posted 20+.The point I'm trying to make is usually I do my own research, search the forum before posting thereby I can make an informed decision weather to flash, upgrade, mod etc......
And finaly Jasjamming I totally undertand how you feel, listen take your time and chillout with your missus and by the way I may not have your current Black 2 flashed on my phone it does not mean it's not a good ROM it's just that after flashing so many version of WM6 cooked ROM for me LVSW works the best on my device so far until the next one
P.S. Moderators please please put restriction period before any noobs post in this forum coz at the end of the day XDA-Developers has reputation for being on of the best forum out there, lets not spoil it!

your just as a guilty as a noob, as this is a wm6 forum, techinically this should go in the general forum. can we stop with all these i hate noob threads...its almost as annoying as their quesitons.
I've joined since 2005, my account was somehow not working anymore so I've created a new one. I am not an expert but I've started using PDA since Palm Pilot Pro and all versions of WinCE, WM, Handheld PC.
This forum is by far the most helpful and resourceful on the planet regarding PPC.
Sometimes it takes long to find some simple/frustrating answers but after all it is still the best.
I hope everyone can get along with whatever thing they are troubled with! Good Luck!
Please guys stop creating new threads on n00bs and their behavior/rants/old days nostalgia. By doing this we bring unneeded clutter to the forum. There already is several threads dealing with this. Complains and rants will not help us solve the situation.

LOL How observent of you MR SENIOR I would loved say something to that but I wont as I haven't got the time or day to *****!
This is another [email protected] thread on this whole subject... there are numerous ones already... this is 1 of the reasons people are getting hostile........
Perhaps xda-developers could add a marketplace forum where people could sell their used/un needed devices
I think the idea is an excellent one.
It would be nice to have a forum just for market place, than searching into sub-forums and usually the ads aren't posted in the right forums...
Thank you for your reply hopefully and admin, ect will see and take action
Just a brief reply, but it's been looked into in the past. One of the biggest problems with that is fraud. There would be a flood of spammers entering the forums and trying to rip off the members. We already have a problem with spam and it would be extremely difficult to police them even more if we set apart an area to conduct legitimate business. And because of that, we'd have a lot of unhappy members here.
So, we don't currently allow the selling of devices on the forum, but on occasion we do turn a blind eye to more trusted senior members getting rid of their devices.
Just wondering, why is there no category for forums about the Droid? When I browse forums by category on the new XDA app I see a category on there for most all other android handsets, why no Droid? I guess I feel like it was a mainstream enough device to merit some hacking, right?
Please assist.

It is time to pull the trigger on the DROID forum? Yay or Nay? Let's resolve.

It is, in my view, time to bring this issue to a vote. Not that we citizens of XDA-land have a voter per se in the Information Design and Forum Structure at XDA. But you admins do, of course. Svetius has had his "new forums?" thread open now since January 11th -- it is now April 7th -- Not quite 90 days, but surely enough time to take the pulse of the community and the site management.
I personally think it's embarrassing to XDA to continue to stonewall this issue and act like "it's covered elsewhere on other forum sites". If that were actually the case, then I have to say, all these people who nonetheless ask repeatedly for a droid forum here must just be stupid. However, numerous seemingly bright people have challenged this claim that seems to be the basis for blocking the addition of the DROID forum. But it's not my call. It is the call of the owners and admins of XDA. My request as a user is: Please, at least resolve it one way or the other.
As I wrote in this post here, at the end of the day, if nothing more, if you've got valid reasons for not opening this widely asked-for forum at XDA, then at least have the courtesy to SAY SO, and to at least provide a suitable re-direct link to the most useful DROID development community sites on the web -- placed within in a STICKY within the General and ANDROID General Forums suitably named something clear like: For DROID devices, we recommend these resource links.
To me that would provide a suitable closure on the issue, and give people seeking Droid development help a doorway to help, vs a bottomless pit with no answers at all.
It's quite sad when you're going through someones For Sale thread and you see people crapping all over it. This used to be such a great site back in the days when it was just Windows Mobile phones. Everyone listened to the rules and no one really crapped on peoples threads just for the hell of it.
I really hope that XDA either,
1.) Implements more moderators into the section.
2.) Updates the rules in the XDA Marketplace.
It's sad to see the kind of state that XDA has fallen to over the years with the addition of Windows Phone & Android devices and the members it has brought to this community.
With that said, I hope someone in the moderation staff / XDA staff can read this and start implementing some changes because it's like a hurricane has hit the Marketplace and looks quite unprofessional.

We are in the process of bringing in some changes to the MP including a feedback system.
Still, this site is outrageously large, so we need you to report anything that shouldn't be happening. If it's people doing the old "PM sent" thing, just report it. They won't be eligible to use the new feedback system though if they do that...
Any specific issues?
i think it would be a good idea if a new session was made...that session will be a playground for all spammers and timewasters to play around always in the rules...
as i am in some other forums too i noticed that there is a session where you could post as many post you want but it wasnt count as post(for example if i have 100 posts and post 10 in this session i will have still 100 posts){that forum was v-bulletin too ,so ithink is possible for this forum too}
also this session will be good opportunity to clear the off topic session for threads like ban the person above you , youtube thread ,kill the person above you and others(also an opportunity to make more of this), so the off topic session will be used for discusssion.
i post that thought of mine because i think it will help the forum!!!
hope you will find my suggestion usefull!!!!!!
cheers
We do have the Off Topic Section, but the posts do count in there.
This is definitely something to think about. I'll run it up the flag pole.

I've seen some of the guys that frequent off-topic ask for it to not count towards posts quite a few times actually - you'll definitely get support for this. It's a sociable place where people get to know each other a bit better than the device forums, and it does get frustrating when new members decide to use it as a spamming arena to get their post count up.
+1 to this.

We had touched upon this a few times in fact. Good to see that we are not alone in our line of thought
I have been following xda for over two years now but have never joined until a week ago. I have donated a lot of money to various developers and roms offer that time. But only through paypal and email. I have been afraid to join the forum as with my knowledge of Android then, i would only sound like an idiot. There needs to be a streamlined way to get rid of spammers while not discouraging noobs from learning. This can be Done by implementing the above ideas but i believe because of human nature and the fact xda has grown massively, there is no proven method to exclude perpetrators. Tyke main problem is that people cannot gauge their own level of expertise and so they stumble along, get flamed and essentially become spammers out of spite. When some person joins initially they should enter a primary site where their actions can be judged over a period of time. One their trial is complete they can then join the main xda forum. Moderators could focus their time and energy on this trial site and will find their jobs made easier and the main site free of moronic comments. Anyways, this can solve many of your problems and existing members would also refrain from breaking the rules because they will fear the drudgery of the trial site. I have seriously leant tons from the awesome people and knowledgeable developers here on xda. Thank you all and i look forward to supporting you until i am old and grey.

Ok that's a good idea and thanks for sharing it,
The problem is that not everyone new is noob about android, take example from yourself, when you joined you weren't noob, and with criteria will they be judged...
I think your idea deserve its own thread..
Ok can we go back to my suggestion?! Thanks

Well, I agree. The OT section is many times used as a spam section. There are many topics there which could be combined but they say hey, its off topic so theycan post whatever they want wherever.
