THE Thread for Connection Issues on WM 6.1

I've noticed a lot of people having problems being with T-Mobile and having the new 6.1 ROM being used on their Dash. Now even though I don't know the answer or connection settings to get this to work, I though I'd take the liberty of starting a SINGLE thread about this known issue, so our friends don't have to go digging through the threads to find what they need.
I've tried to update the GPRS and Proxy connections to what they were before I updated, but there is no "E" in the top right corner. When I try to use Windows Live or any other data service, then the "E" pops up in the upper right and soon after, 2 arrows signifying a data transfer shows up, but nothing ever happens and it times out.
Has ANYONE gotten their Data Connection with T-Mobile to work with this yet? I'm going to call T-Mo to get the settings, but I though I'd check here first. I'm not payin' $19.95/month for nothin'.

First, go to Settings > Connections > Proxy and delete everything. Then go to Settings > Connections > GRPS and delete everything, then add an item:
Description: Tmobile Data
Connects To: The Internet
Anything that says DNS: 0.0.0.0
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
Leave everything else blank.
Then configure another item called Tmobile SMS, with the only difference begin that it connects to "Wap Network"
Did this work? If it does not work the first time, restart and try again. It works for me

Got it working. Thanks for the help! I had alternated between those 2 settings to try and get everything working. Never thought of just adding both of them. Duh!

Your welcome. To be honest, I did not know that you had to have them both configured - I have just always done it that way because thats what the TMobile site told me to do. Now I know they both have to be configured You have just saved me a future headache

Data Connections Setup?

After a clean firmware install, I don't have any data service anymore. I can't check email or get on Internet Explorer. It tells me to set up the connection in the phone settings.
I'm sure this is a common problem, does anybody know what I'm supposed to be setting up? I just have the regular T-Mobile unlimited data plan.

will not conect to wifi

need help, flashed to kavanas latest rom, fone will find wireless networks but will not conect even if i disable all security, tried different roms but still the same. fone worked when on original BT rom. cannot find a link that works to replace bts rom so i can use wifi. please please help, i want to use wifi on kavanas rom

had the same problem
with you mobile provider mine tmobile so ill show u how i did mine
i had the same problem what u need to do is go to start/settings/GPRS
delete those chinese gprs settings
press menu add
desscription: t-zones or something like that
connects to: The internet
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
(basically after you put in these^ click done)
and hit the red button to go all the way back
to the main screen open IE
click menu
go to tools
options
connections
check the box automatically detect settings
select network - WAP network
and you should be able to get online u might have to hard reset your phone but after you turn your phone back on it should be working

still will not conect with wifi. will conect useing gprs but i dont want a big bill for internet use

do you pay for unlimited internet?
i also drove somewhere like a restaurant with free wifi opened my wifi connection and connected to it it worked.......i guess someone else has to respond sorry tried to help

thanks for your help,but to answer your question, no i dont have unlimited internet i have to pay, thats why i need wifi to work so i can use wireless internet at home

I had the same problem with Kavana's Rom, Since switching to the Rose Rom 1.7 I've had no problem getting wifi.

Don't reflash yet. Try hard resetting your phone.
Accessories -> Clear Storage

Disable Data Connections

Please don't flame me for not searching an answer for this, but I've been looking for 2 hours without success for a solution.
I have a Touch Pro2 that is for a buddy, so not even my phone, and she has no data allowance in her contract, so any weather lookup, microsoft My Phone or internet connections are going to cost her dearly till she sorts out a new Sim & contract.
Is there an easy way to turn data connections off, leaving the SMS service alone, then to switch it back on in the future when the Sim is changed? I know that on my own HD2 if you simply turn off data connection in the comm manager it switches back on when the phone is reset or thinks that data is needed.
I'd appreciate any help or pointers please! I'm going blind on these forums!

Open up the settings menu / connections and delete the data settings for Internet. It won't connect.

Also you can search for 1 minute auto gprs disconnect

another good solution is to:
menu>settings>Connections>connection setup, change your country to other country. GPRS will invalid. still SMS and call can be working perfect.

Can't find any of those settings

I can find neither of these settings on my Energy ROM (which I flashed right after I got it).
I also found this, which would be my preferred solution - if I could find it. :

I did ask this in the Energy ROM thread, but nobody answered me there. But I am looking for a general solution (without extra software), since I'm not sure I really want to stick with this ROM.

This goes under development because its a problem with my phone regarding the development so before the cyanogen rom release i had eugene's froyo5 and it worked fine.. well my fiance picked up the phone ****ed around with it and now no matter what 2.2 rom i use i can't get INTERNET sites to load or.. MARKET to sync my account or communicate this is with cyanogen rom and eugene's froyo6.. now my wifi will see connections connect and even gather info/ip addy from the wifi however it will not let me load pages ect.. now in 2.1 running the old RADIO + Slidemeroot5 or whatever it's called the stock with root it will go into the wifi/find/communincate and load my MARKET/INTERNET just fine.. so it has to be with a setting that would stay threw data/cache wipe with Cyanogen Kanged heres the thing.. I've wiped many times I've even tried restoring old backups from froyo5 they no longer let me sync/internet/market so.. anyone who can find a solution will receive an IMMEDIATE $20.00 donate and if done in a timely fashion an addition $10.00...
I will not be able to RE-ROOT or UN-ROOT my phone as i do not have my USB cable anymore

Tuba is right it sounds like your apn settings are wrong or deleted.

No... Bad-Luck and me seem to be on everyday terms

Your not on t-mobile, so you need to change your APN settings to att

settings>wireless settings>mobile networks>apn settings, then you should be able to add the correct APNs or see what is listed there

Lol! Yeah, it sounds about right. I have'd had that streak before.
menu, settings, wireless networks, mobile networks, access point name
Google tmobile apn android and they'll list the proper apn settings. I don't have time to type them all out right now.
oppsy, I see some folks beat me to it and you need the at&t settings anyways. Just google at&t android apn settings. That should do it.

you will need proper APN setting for your carrier, google that shiz and you should be good to go, then you will just need to add the APN to your phone from that same screen
apns are different for each carrier, google APN <carrier> mytouch slide(or just android)

I don't have a DATA plan so data is turned off will this matter? also I'm on AT&T

Huh? No data plan huh. Yeah, that will matter. Umm, so you have been using wifi to access internet right?
Okay from what I understand... wifi is real iffy with the 2.2 ports. You might have to select static and type in your ip settings from your pc. Just go on the pc and run command prompt and type ipconfig. That will tell your ip setting and enter them into the correct slots on your phone. Its under menu settings wireless& networks wifi settings menu advanced select static ip

well is data is off then you aren't going to be getting on the interwebs, are you saying that with wifi you can't load pages?

Yeah, he's basically saying wifi isnt sending data to the phone. I edited my previous post to show him how to set up a static network.

yes I had wifi working fine on newslide.zip or myupdate.zip from eugene and all builds before in last 2 days wifis has stopped working... unknown why

Reread the first post. It says my WIFI will connect info and all that and above he states he doesn't have a data plan so its going to have to be wifi hes on.
Now I am having the same problem ever since I flashed the ROM and wiped twice and reflashed twice. Trying static IP now.

alas no luck on STATIC, question is why would I need to set up static when it should auto connect and auto know ya know? i'd like to be able to use WIFI outside of my home aswell

So right now it doesn't work on any rom now? If it's the cyan kernel, try dumfuq's oc kernel, I know it sounds strange but i tried one of cyan's kernel and somethings stopped working, led flashlight is one...Tried the new dumfuq and it worked for me. No promises though that it will work for your wifi problem.

your ip address of your router is 192.168.0.1 which means that your IP address of your phone will have to be 192.168.0.x since the computer is 192.168.0.199 i would try something around the 199 range(try going plus or minus 10) so either 192.168.0.189 or 192.168.0.209
also you will have to set subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 and gateway to 192.168.0.1

flash GAPPS
and tell ya
allows for surfing via browser doesn't fix my Market/google issue

You don't have a network connection.
This could be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. please try again when connected to a mobile network or connect to a wifi network, if the problem continues call customer service..
then gives me option to connect to wifi but i am connected

If it worked before on myfroyo 5, then push the apn.conf into /system/etc
or
You can try pushing the apn.conf file from the aria into /system/etc
then do a factory reset..
may or may not work
