Hi everyone,
is it possible to put shortcuts on HW Keyboard on BA? For example, I'd like to open a new SMS without using the stylus...
Thank You in advance. Bye

Get SPB Pocket Plus. That'll do the trick
Am I missing something here?
Your Blue Angel has a little silver Messaging button, it's the second one from the left under the screen. I press that then use the dpad...
With the silver button you can open the program, but you do not automatically open a new message (unless you change the button's settings)
With Spb I managed to put an icon on the today screen to open a new SMS. Now I can access the icon with the arrows without using the stylus (thank you!).
But I meant something slightly different. I'd like to put shortcuts directly on the BA's keyboard: to set combinations of keys that give access to specific programs or files... Even with Spb I didn't manage to do it.
Thank You for your help. Bye

how did you manage to add a shortcut to your new messages on the today screen using spb?
In Spb settings I went to the today plug-in options -> objects -> add -> file (I hope the translation is correct since I refer to the italian version...).
Then I added the file \windows\start menu\programs\spb pocket plus actions\[new message].ink

You can also add this shortcut to harware buttons through SPB.
Go to SPB options\buttons and add the shortcuts you need.
Then go to start\settings\buttons to assign these shortcuts to hardware buttons

Thank you again, helterskelter!
But my problem's that I'm not able to assign shortcuts to the BA's keyboard buttons. I can only choose (I think) among the 9 HW buttons. Bye. fabbor75
Hi, Guys
Great job on all the different ROMS.
Is it possible to set the screen orientation for specific applications. ie stay in standard portrait mode, but say I open email or tom tom. I would like the screen to change to landscape automatically and when I exit the program the screen to revert back to portrait mode. If not does any one know of an app that can do this.
cheers
That has to be written into the application.
It used to be an option in Tomtom 5, but it was a feature that was removed for Tomtom 6.
Opera browser will landscape independantly of the OS.
Sadly developers have have starting thinking that as screen rotation is available from Windows, they don't need to add it to their applications.
I'm not aware of any extra application that would monitor other opening applications and switch the display accordingly.
thanks for the quick reply. Guess I will have to manually change before opening.
just find this:
wisbar advance 3
Features
Compatible with WM2003, WM2003SE, WM5 and WM6 touchscreen devices
Uses a smaller memory footprint than WisBar Advance 2
Customize the close button, the screen orientation and the SIP on a per-application basis
Switch between any application currently running on your device
Provides a cascading start menu (as in the screenshot)
Tap and hold the OK button to cancel a dialog
Add or remove functions to the taskbar
Each button on the taskbar can be assigned a tap and a tap-and-hold action
Place shortcuts in the system tray for easier access from the Today screen
Customize a "User Menu" with applications of your choosing
Change the appearance of the taskbar, menubar, buttons and start menu in any program
Supports QVGA and VGA devices
Customize the clock's appearance on the taskbar
Hear sounds for system events, just like on your desktop
Download and install themes created by other people
I assigned the internet explorer button (bottom right) to "rotate screen".
thanks for the post,
Pete - seems to be the best solution without having to install extra apps. cheers
I know custom tabs for Manila has been discussed many times before, including one for tasks. But my question is different - is there a way to add tasks on home tab? Like replacing the call history or calendar entries. That's the only thing I've always missed in Manila - seeing if I have any active/due tasks right after I unlock my screen.
None interested?!
I'm definitely interested! I have no idea how to do it but I would love to see it. I've thought about this many times.
Well, obviously it makes only two of us. It seems is either unwanted and/or impossible..
+1 pls.
Sorry I have no clue how to do this
Yup, +1 here, makes 4.......
I don't know of a possibility to add tasks, but you can use this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=602221
You can place a today plugin, like TodayAgenda or some other Tasks app. to cover up for example the calendar part on the home screen. Or you can add it to the Operator tab.

This is actually pretty straight forward if you follow the steps correctly. This is the way I did it to put messaging on the home screen.
Install the 2D TodayPage cab
Stop TouchFlo (Start > Setting > Home > Items and unselect TouchFlo)
Soft reset (may not be necessary but better in my mind)
Run M2Dtp config from programs page
Press and hold the red area next to plugins lable
Select Tasks (or whichever you want)
Leave Window at Window_00
Set x=10 y=240 w=220 h=60
Choose M2D widget page (Home)
press apply
press menu
press OK
Start TouchFlo (Start > Setting > Home > Items and select TouchFlo)
Switch to another tab then back to home and it should be there.
NOTE: You may need to experiment with the X (Left) ,Y (Top),W (Width), and H (Height) but they should place your plugin right after the calendar
How about Sense2.5.1922
Yeah.. well, I am more interested in latest Manila 3D - Sense 2.1/2.5. Apologies for not specifying that. Adding it to the title.
I change the right soft-key of the Home tab in my Sense 2.1 to "Tasks"..
So, if I want to see my tasks, I just tap the right soft-key..
I would also really like to get Outlook Tasks incorporated into Sense!
As part of the 'home tab', the 'calendar tab' or as a separate 'tasks tab'; either, some or all are fine with me ;-)
It surprises me that Microsoft has downplayed Outlook Tasks in WinMo. In Outlook it is easily accessible and a really useful tool for 'appointments or To-Do's that are not strictly time-specific'. That at least is how I use tasks.
Therefore it is really annoying that you have to open a separate app (either MS' own or something like pTasks) to access them in WinMo.
To have Outlook Tasks show up in the calendar I have to use a full-blown program like Pocket Informant.
It's also strange to me that HTC has overlooked the incorporation of Outlook Tasks in their otherwise excellent Sense-UI!
I'm even surprised that the great programmers frequenting this fine forum seemingly does not think that Outlook Tasks is worth incorporating into Sense.
Apart from the ease of access that comes with incorporation into Sense it would also enhance the general 'user experience' to be able to access Outlook Tasks in the same UI that lets you access the other Outlook-functions like mail and calendar!
Hopefully someone will recognize this 'oversight' and remedy the situation soon ;o)
Does anybody know how to make Tasks beeing displayed on home tab? (the way appointments and other calendar entries are)
Shortcut to Tasks is not the way out - it would be perfect to have 'to do list' always on, under the clock

Hello!
It seems what you are using lua scripting in your mod? Can you create mod with tasks instead of appointments?
I'm not the only one who dreaming about such mod . There are many people using tasks without any appointments...
Best regards and sorry for my English.

Argg, I really need tasks on home page.
I'm about to remove Sense from my device and go back to WM today screen just because I can see tasks...
I agree to the best solution I found is installing pTask and make shortcut on the homescreen.
Hi everyone, I am a cooker ( doing great things, but mainly a noob one compared to some masters out there ) .
Cooking on the Omnia I900 & Acer S200 ( french rom only), these devices have low memory.
For example the acer S200 only has 256mb of ram, but mainly the same hardware than the powerful HD2(except ram....:-( )
Arto ( great cooker of the Acer S200 scene ) has found that removing the start menu completely gains 15mb Ram on our devices ( by fooling the system with empty .cpr grid, icons caches aren't generated.)
This can help people make really light roms!!! The main problem now is the we don't have here a real startmenu alternative, a eye candy one than keep the spirit of our devices... Quickmenu is functionnal but not too beautiful.
After many searches over xda, the only thing I found was Quickmenu and the sense Startmenu replacement ( I modded the kenia1234 startmenu replacement to give it 5 columns, here is the work : 5 columns start sense2.5 menu replacement )
I don't know why developper aren't interested in making a real , fast and beautiful startmenu replacement ( with full fonctionnality, at least control panel wikth .cpl files abilty, and even more folder architecture, fullscreen, lightweight ),
but here is the request or that, If others than me are interested, please reply and tell your needs, to help developpers...
Something like Panoramic Launchpad would be great!
Last week I started creating a startmenu alternative. It's very underdeveloped, and I have no idea when it's finished, but to give you an idea I attached two screenshots.
It still lacks a couple of features (if someone can point me in the right direction, please do so ):
- no control panel items yet
- no icon transparency (I got that working, but it was horribly slow)
- no background (because of the lack of transparency)
- no hook on the hardware windows key (like quickmenu)
- no hook on the software start button (like ameba does on winmo 6.5.x)
- if there's no png file attached to a link, no icon is displayed
But the other basics are working:
- starting programs by clicking (yes I know, very basic )
- flipping pages by swyping your finger (left->right, right->left, up->down, down->up)
- opening folders, and going back up one level with the left soft button (just like the usual start menu)
I actually started this because I'm not a fan of the hexagon grid styled start menu, not because of memory issues. I did take a look at the current memory usage of my start menu, and currently it is 1.41MB. But that will grow with more icons and transparency I guess.
If you're interested I can continue developing this startmenu.
The most important thing to me is ram usage, the lower it is the best it is,
the png file limitation to display an icon should be reconsidered, the ability to display native icon is much more important, or, much easily to program, you can make your app request the "HKLM\Security\StartInfo\Start\myprog.lnk" key to read the icon you should display, if nothing is entered, lets just start the native icon.
This is important to make your startmenu replacement user friendly. nobody likes assigning manually an icon to an app, having the ability to do it is good, but the most important for the users is that your program automaticaly displays the native icon like the start menu does.
To use cpl, you just have to use a ctlpnl.exe command line, like this :
ctpnl.exe mycpl.cpl
if cpl has multiple tab, ctpnl.exe mycpl.cpl,1 ( where the number is the tab you want to be open)
for cpl files, I thinks its the big part of the job :-(
What I meant with:
- if there's no png file attached to a link, no icon is displayed
Click to collapse
My program uses the icons set in HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start, but if it's an older program, there might not be a high resolution icon, and in that case I won't display any icon. That's something I will fix ofcourse.
I'll have a look at the cpl files, and I guess google will help me there as well.
Also looking for a way to show my startmenu instead of the winmo startmenu, but no luck so far. If anybody knows how to catch when the winmo startmenu is activated in c#, please let me know.
Hi guys
Have you ever heard of iPhoneToday http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633618 ? It's so light and configurable
XTask has a good looking, light start menu replacement.
If you leave out the start_icon.png's, then the native icons are used. The 6.5 start menu also slows down boot time dramatically. Just delete all the shortcuts, soft reset, and check the millisecondtoidlethread in hkcu/performance. Boot time may be 20-30 seconds faster.

Hi m8
I also hate the startmenu but this is cose it eats arround 30mb of ram...
There is a way to disable the default startmenu ....
Look this post its working fine on Blackstone NRG roms.

I just dont like the replacement menu or the quickmenu
Your app can be assigned to startmenu button with ameba
If can i help with your project on this just let know
Also keep in mind that many shells (Throttle Launcher, Mobile Shell etc) read the data to load program shortcuts from the start menu, so that the replacement has to take care of that too.
what do you think about wisbar 4? would this be an alternative to quick menu? i was using this prog. a year ago and i was totaly impressed. now i use it again together with the new energy rom from august 28. after the replacement from the start menu i have real nice and fast blackstone
Hello everyone, I wanted to post a mini tutorial because I think this little app deserves more success on HD MINI terminal that offers much potential for this hidden
I did test both version 1.50 and the 09.925-plus is I have to say that 1.50 seems to work best.
Both should not be installed but only extracted folders. Then just make a link to the programs (I use Resco Explorer).
Let Settings:
1. You start the program (I do not use autostart)
- you can have two types of screens: the default or by going to Options / Special debug / gui switch sense -..... and the same to return to the previous display.
2. Sensor can be seen in the various settings of our sense MINI HD.
Other important features are the function potrait - landscape and automatic on / off automatic screen.
3.AUTOMATIC Potrait-LANDASCAPE at any angle is automatic !!!!! (my rom - 2:40 nsourm ver - build 23152 CHT NO-CLEAN.
4. Tap Events can make various automatic functions: it gives an example for turning off the screen.
In the picture are intuitive user-friendly settings .......
screenshotx1
5. I had a little problem in re-opening the program (it is obvious that work must remain resident in memory):
Buttons go on and add the function to the movement chose .......
I did several tests el single button that works is the backspace key. I chose 2x. Personally only starts after opening RESCO EXPLORER!! Do not know ....
screenshotx3 -
After finishing the settings (buttons, etc. events gps .....) - press button (hide) because the prog, remain resident in memory.
I hope can be helpful. Just a thank you is greatly appreciated.

Hello.
Is easy! with (activesync) extract the folder to sd. then with (RESCO EXPLORER 2010) creates the link in the start menu
