For all those seeking the 2 magic steps of how to fix your bricked i780:
(1) Download the LOADER: http://www.mediafire.com/?agoddxiwtgq
(2) download the ROM (in this case, the English ROM) - http://www.mediafire.com/?mtmxr1dxzz5
put them both in the same directory and extract both files.
Run the loader, and push 'PDA' and it will select the ROM.
Plug in the USB / sync cable
Push 'detect'
Switch your phone on and the software will immediately start uploading the ROM.
When its complete, unplug the cable and switch the phone on.
Thats it! There you go! Fixed phone! No need to send it to Samsung!
Its not as east as a hard reset, but it will do!!!

Hi, I'm a newbie in al that stuff. How about to have or find a french ROM ? Is it simple or really too difficult ?

This worked and I tested with my bricked i780. Thanks very much for the poster and the people whose contributed on this.
Please take note of the following:
- Your machine must have ActiveSync installed. I suggest you to disable USB sync option.
- You need to have the i600 modem driver installed. Do a search on Google - it can be easily found. Your Windows should recognize your phone as i780 immediately when it is power on.
- Follow the steps above, if the program didn't upload the ROM 1st time, do a reset by using the reset hole, and once the phone is restarted, the program will upload the ROM immediately.

Can you describe details on how windows detect the phone? My PC detected the phone but I failed to install the driver software. Also, you didnt mention about emergency mode, should I turn on the phone normally or switch to emergency mode? Thank you!

Just tried again on a non VISTA machine and it worked perfectly ... I now have non bricked English ROM i780 .... as I now have two .... one will be going on ebay so let me know if in the UK and you want one.
I can confirm RealVGA works fine on the English ROM.

Ok I've flashed close to a dozen times using various great ROMS everyone has provided and never had a problem. Today I realized that ATT/HTC released their official ROM yesterday and I thought I would give it a try. I followed their instructions but it did not work.
My phone looked as though it was updating and it got stuck at 11%. Followed the instructions to recover and it still did not work. Now my phone is stuck at the Triple Color Bar screen and I cannot do anything.
Did I brick my phone?
Can I use some of the options to try to unbrick in the xda wiki?

Have you tried flashing a different rom or using a different pc to flash with?
i managed to revive mine from that state the key is getting the usb to let you update again dont plug in the cable until after the ruu is looking for the connection might take a couple tries but that worked for me.

Try this:
1) Turn your phone off completely
2) Hold the side OK button and the power button, at the same time push the reset button at the bottom with your stylus.
3) this should get you into the bootloader (the three colour screen)(dont be lazy and just let it load into the bootloader, actually run the key sequence ive just mentioned!)
4) on your PC run the update, i would reccomend the latest official update for your handset, BUT, do the following:
a) Make sure you have WinRAR installed
b) Right click on the update file you have just downloaded
c) 'Extract' the update file to the folder it makes
d) within that folder should be ANOTHER executable file that has the same icon as the original update
e) Extract this file again
f) open the folder it makes and within that there should be a RUUSIGNED.NBH and also the RUU utility itself
5) Run the update utility in the second folder
6) once the utility has loaded, plug your phone in (the text will change from 'SERIAL' to 'USB')
7) proceed with the update and see what happens

You should not update using the Oficial ROM release Update because you put in the boot loader from here (Hard-SPL-V7) and it will try over righting the entire rom if you do and is probably what messed up your update attempt. Use Dutty's NBH tool and just decompile the NBH of the official rom, then recompile the windows, splash screens and radio into a new NBH then flash using the RUUwrapper from this site to flash the phone.

Yes I've tried two different Official ATT ROMs and on different computers but same problem. Actually the only one that will attempt to start loading are the ATT ROMs and none of the cooked ROMs here are loading. Maybe that has something to do with the way they are packaged.

This looked the most promising maybe because it felt like I was doing something and I was using the ATT ROM again to update, and it actually started updating again. But it stopped at 11% again and gave me the 262 error.
Below pulled from readme.txt file.
"ERROR [262, 276, 284, 302] : UPDATE ERROR
This error occurs during the CE ROM code upgrade process.
Solution: If this happens, you can just soft-reset the device and run RUU again. The update process will then continue.
Note: At this stage, the Wince is destroyed; instead, it is in upgrade mode."

Haven't yet tried this because I am having a hard time getting details on this. I've been searching looking for "duttythroy nbh tool", "nbh tool", "dutty nbh tool", and "dutty's nbh tool" and I can't find it.
If this helps anyone this is what I have on my tri-color screen:

You can also try to flash from the SD card:
- format a SD card with FAT32
- extract the .NBH file from the rom image you like (for your device of course)
- rename the .NBH to HERMIMG.NBH and copy it to your SD card
- put SD card in phone and start it in bootloader (hold OK button on left side and POWER button at same time and stick with stylus in RESET on bottom)
- confirm flashing on screen
- flashing might hang after some time but this is normal. Just wait. Complete flash takes about 30 minutes.
This also works for normal (non preproduction) devices but keep in mind that if the CID does not match the flashing might not work. - this was taken from one old thread
- notes - you should backup everything on your SD card to your PC (because except for HERMIMG.NBH it should be blank)
- you can not get USB related error because it loads from a card
- if you flash official ROM you flash it with everything - radio ROM, Windows and bootloader
I am not really sure about bootloader you should have but for official upgrade official bootloader should be ok (it is first thing to be flashed - so I think you have bootloader from ATT ROM already.

that really helps a lot, it has the solution and stuff. hope you unbrick your phone! all i did was download the update and it reloaded to wm5 update on my 8525 then after that, i went for olipro's 2.10 so i dont unbrick it anymore =) then flash all you want!

Ok that was the oddest thing but it worked. I've been trying to possibly unzip some of the packages by way of what duke_stix instructed. My last ROM was Schaps most recent 4.0. I unzipped what he had and ran the RUU file. What was funny though is that it started updating up to 3% then gave me the 260 error but this time my phone restarted and booted back up. I don't know what happen but it works now. If this is suppose to go in as a fix I don't know what happen.
Thank you everyone for all your help. I want to reflash my ROM but I will wait until I see this working for a while.

Ok, I've tried everything that was posted in this thread and nothing worked so far.
My last setup before trying to reinstall the Radio is:
AT&T 8525 (location - Hawaii)
Black Majik's WM6
Herm Radio 1.43.00.00
Hard SPL-V7
The OS has been working great until this previous Monday. Also just in case if this is any relevant, Hawaii has just recently upgraded and turned on it's 3G network just a couple of weeks ago. They are still tweaking the whole thing to make sure all is well. Unfortunately it seems that something they did this past Monday seemed to really screw up the 8525's.
The reason I'm trying to reinstall my radio is because I happened to go to the phone settings, and saw that there was no Radio version on the screen. Thought this might also add to the problem.
Well where I'm at now is that I'm stuck at the Tri-Color loader screen. I've read the Wiki regarding fixing a bricked phone. Doesn't seem to help.
So I'm now stuck and need expertise of more knowledgeable members who might have been in the same situation as me.
Please, really need help as this is a company phone and I've got to get it working cause I don't wanna have to pay for it.

In bootloader mode AS will not recognized the PDA. As I see there is DES crash proof hard-spl on your PDA. Stay in bootloader mode, and try to flash an other rom, or the original offical rom. If does not work here is a useful link:

I don't know why, but after successfull cooked rom update (Schap, Faman, etc..) the last one didn't work and stick to 3-color (I'm under olipro 1.3)
I just made a spl update without any pb (take a look if on your pda screen it shows USB instead of serial) don't care about activsync
Then a radio update (1.40 instead of 1.50).
Shap rom update didn't work anymore (cache issue), so I'd just copied RUU_signed.nbh from SChaps replacing the one into Fman folder, and just working fine...

Had this kind of problem
Simplest thing is to load rom from SD card (do search on this).
In short get the ROM you want - ROM***.nb file and rename it as TRINIMG.NB put it on the SD card. Launch bootloader and follow instructions. Otherwise check thread VISTA FLASH DISASTER...

I reconnected the phone ( it sad USB in the bootloader btw)
Downloaded schaps wm6pro and unzipped, enterd the ruu and flashed, even thoug active sync was inactive.
I didnt have to go any further than this.
Many thanks, now i might dare to try som more roms, done ax3ls and karmba's so far looking forward to test schaps now.
Look in the Trinity Wiki. It describe how to flash from the SD card. this will fix you up.

my samsung i780 is dead after i flashed the boot part with the eboot from DXHC4!
I already tried everything!
i flashed de boot part with E1, flashed the three parts with the c4 and e1 rom and nothing! the flash process always complete without errors!!
I can acess bootloader without problems, i can also entre the hard reset menu pressing the green , red and power button but when i press space to performe the hard reset nothing happens and i tried to wait several minutes!
when I power on the phone it doens't even show the samsung logo! Just black screen!
I would really apreciate some help!

There are quite a number of answers posted. EFN had already explained too many times. He had said that the bootloader works fine, that's a good start.
Just get the necessary rom from EFN thread, phone rom PUHE1 and the pda rom DXHE1. There is even a tutorial on this in EFN thread (1st post).

Okay step by step:
Did you downloaded the russian rom i780PUHE1 (eboot+phone+pda)?
Did you downloaded the i780DXHE1 (pda only)?
Follow the tutorial, assuming step 1 to 4 had already been done.
(5) Launch Mirage updater. Select MIRAGE LV image as the profile
(6) Select EBOOT+PDA+PHONE and select the extracted RUSSIAN .img file
(7) Click on DETECT
(8) Switch on the phone while holding the ENTER and FUNCTION buttons (ALT BUTTON)
(9) After the system DETECT message appears, connect the phone via USB to your PC
(10) Wait until the image is written.
Before flashing to the DXHE1 rom first, please try to boot up and see if it works. If it is successful, you will see plenty of gibberish characters. This is EXPECTED, as the rom is russian.
If it doesn't boot up, then I am sorry I won't be able to help you.
Try the above first. Point to note is to choose eboot+phone+pda. Always press detect first before going through the enter+function+power on process.
If it works, please let me know.

hellboss, I'm sorry about your device. Perhaps it might be a hardware issue. I'm not sure.
While the device may have a black screen, you could try to see if the LED lights work, whether there is a sound after the system boot up. These are important clues to see if it is really hardware issue.
Once again, I wish you could find a solution to your problem.

I'm not really sure, but have you try to dump your rom using pdocread, one of the itsutilsbin tools? Meaning get the Part00, Part01 and Part02 raw files which is your rom dump?
If i were you I will try most official rom to rescue the device first. like i780XHC4 that one has all three (healthy and normal) parts.
dogmood i already tried.... but still nothing...
g00ndu , to dump the ROM don't i need to change some values on some key at the pocket pc registry?? if so i can't because the pda doens't start....
P.S-the first time i flashed it i did it on a pc with windows xp but all the time the process was incomplete and i need to turn off the phone and restart the phone, and at the second time was succesful, now i'm doing it on a virtual machine running windows xp pro sp2,,,,, can my problem be related to that??

I use a VM for the flashing myself, so this shouldnt cause problems.
If flashing the official rom (EBOOT & Phone & PDA) doesnt work for u then you have to consider the fact that your i780 busted on the hardware level.
The best thing to do now is to claim for warranty and make sure u sent them beack with official rom in your phone (HC4)

well I've considered that, and I think that my next move is going to be warranty
but unfortunately the ROM that came with the PDA was not the DXHC4, i bought my samsung in Portugal.
my problem now is that the PDA became dead when i flashed it with the DXHC4 eboot, and now that i can't flash any other ROM i can't put the original ROM, which i have a dump, on it....
so i think that is not going to be accepted on warranty....
honestly i can't discover what went wrong.... I followed every single step of the tutorial to revive a dead i780....

I believe for as long as the rom on your i780 is an official one (regardless of version), Samsung will honor the warranty. You have to try to know. And of course dont tell them that you have been messing up with flashing this and that
well i think so, if the rom is an official one they will honor the warranty...
that's the why of my question about a way to know the version of the ROM installed on the PDA, but i haven't discover anything...
i guess will just try my luck and send it to warranty!

U guys MUST have HardSPL INSTALLED on ur phones BEFORE trying anything of this out...
I Suggest u use HArdSPL 1.40 Unsigned (Its in the RAR file)
AFTER u have installed HardSPL 1.40 Unsigned
Unrar and go to step 2 folder and run -> DiamonCustomRUU.exe
Just do what it says and update.
After the phone restart copy DiamUnlock.exe from the step3 folder on to your diamond
(Anywhere) and run it.
The DiamUnlock.exe closes itself very fast, i have sucessfully made it by first launching the
program and quickly and several times press up button and touch the screen
if you'r lucky the screen stay and you can sim-unlock your diamond!!
the problem that phone came in step 2 after 100% write , it show error 262

I am not sure you can.
Does it go into bootloader mode? If not, might be JTAG is your only option.
When you say 'totally dead' do you mean you get absolutely nothing when you try plugging in the usb cable ?
Logically as soon as you plug in the cable it'll power on into the tri-colour screen.
It'll do this even if you remove the battery.

Serves you right for using a leaked unlocker program - Should have gone here . thanks to Olipro as the leaked version was buggy.

Just this **** happened to me too ... because I did not read carefully ROM-destination, but we resolved the issue after a couple, three hours of bloody despair ...
Be sure before you get to work, you already have prepared a full ROM image (....nbh) for your Diamond, that is to contain radio too. If you do not have a full version, download a full version first and make sure that contains both ROM and Radio.
1. Take cover behind the phone
2. USB link cable to the computer and phone
3. Open the phone
4. Enter bootloader mode as follows:
Keep the volume down key and click with the stylus reset button (red button which is located behind the device ) for 3-4 seconds in the same time with the volume down key, then you can get out your stylus, and continued to keep volume down key, until the bootloades screen appears, now you can release the volume key down too.
And now, just simply launch DiamonCustomRUU.exe to start your flash, using a file manager, and is ready ... you have a new phone!

Hi all,
I have a huge problem and I hope you guys can help me. I tried to flash the orbit (german) artemis of my brother. First flashed the uspl and everything worked fine. At the end there came this penguin picture and the screen stayed black/blue. Then I flashed the rom (MossisROMV3.0GER Windows Mobile 6.5).
HOWEVER: Right then the battery of the laptop went down and the pc switched off. Unfortunately we couldnt plug it in, since we didnt have the cable with us. Now after pluging in the pc there were some connection error notices. Since I didnt know how to proceed I removed the battery of the artemis. I thought I should repeat everything from the beginning on. However the phone always got stuck at the blue o2 screen showing the data:
IPL 3.04.0001
SPL 3.04.0000
GSM 02.88.90
OS 3.13.0.0
Softreset and harrest doesnt make any difference. The phone always gets stuck here.
Is the phone bricked?? Why then does it start? Please help me out asap, since the phone is needed. What can I do?

first you are NOT CID unlocked (SPL 3.04.0000)
so you can only flash german orbit ROM on the phone to revive it
1. get to bootloader (press and hold the record button and reset the phone using stylus)
you will get the tri colour screen
2. connect the phone via USB to PC (no need to look for activesync/WMDC connection in this case)
3. and run the RUU (official O2 german ROM for O2 Xda Orbit)
BTW i have official o2 UK ROM in my 4shared account
look for the link in my signature

after installing a wm 6.5 ger rom i must say i dont like it at all. can you recommend me another one? i think one with htc touchflo would be great, but which one is it?
If i want to flash a new rom, do i first have to flash the original rom before proceeding?
