On October 31, i got into a major car wreck, crashing my 300C on 22" wheels.
I had the excalibur in a car charging cradle, and it had smashed against the window. Surprisingly, the phone worked, however it will NOT CHARGE.
For some reason, with no charger connected, the light showing charge, and the phone thinks it is charging. But when i attach the charger, the phone goes to a red and then dies.
I have another S621 for which i plugged the battery and it works perfectly fine. but just wont charge.
2 days after i bought an HTC Tytn 2, but i always wanted to revive my excalibur. Anybody know why this might happen?
maybe a good car insurance claim???
LMFAO...that was a good reply
Thanks for the help guys,
I didnt find it funny when i fractured my ribs, wrote off my entire car after, not to mention driving a piece of crap 07 G35 sedan now.

sounds like a short send it in and have the usb socket replaced or if your skills are good replace it yourself.

About an hour later ....I felt my phone vibrating....when I took it out the case......the phone was damn near meltin in my hand.....hot like fire........So i took off the battery & waited a few mins for it to cool off.........after that I noticed my battery was @ 30 % mind you I jus took it off the charger & made no calls........any way as the phone cool off the battery level went up a tad..........
I then made another call.......it was fine...but after 5 mins.....it got real hot again........so i took off the battery & left it off till i got home & charged it.....

i guess so..you're lucky it isnt a paperweight already..i suggest you search on the net for 02 service stations there..or just ask ppeople from your part of the world on this forum
If it is getting hot, it sounds like you have a short circuit some where in it, and you are lucky that it is still working. I would avoid using it until you have had it repaired/looked at.

I've been trying to fine out what can be dun other wise......& I'm getting no where.......
Sounds like you've snagged a speaker wire and it's shorting against the case. Are you confident opening it up? I have the speaker assemblies as spare parts and have written a stripdown guide.
If not, send it to ppctechs or similar.

Hello everyone,
I've noticed a strange issue:
I've connected my device to my car charger and I've used Copilot 8 two times: one this morning going to work (25 minutes of trip) and another going home this evening (25 minutes again)
I've found that even if the device is connected to the charger, after 25 minutes of usage of Copilot, I've noticed a 4% of battery comsumption!!!
I've retried again this evening and I've noticed this again!
I remember perfectly that with other HTC Devices (Kayser and HD2), I've charged and used the device without battery consumption.
There is someone that noticed the same things?
Any suggestion, please?
I think it's not acceptable to have my Desire discarging during a (long) trip!
Sounds to me like your car charger isn't putting out enough power to keep the device charging whilst in use.
Yes, I hope this is the matter.
I've ordered another original HTC charger. I'll update this thread as soon as I receive it.
I'll try to enable GPS and make a simulated trip using the home charger.

Yep, seems the probable cause. I used to have same issue on another device used with a cheap low (500mAh) power on it.
The charger I'm using is original HTC charger for my old HD2.
I'll try with the new one.
Thanks to all of you for your help!

yeah i think ronnyuk already explained it couple weeks ago, strange but seems to be true unfortunately
I've had the same problem. I cant be bothered to find my own thread where I explained it, but if feel free to do so.
I had the same with my Xperia X1 using TomTom. I was using a cheap no-brand car charger from Maplin.
When I bought an official Sony Ericsson one, the speed of charging improved drastically.
As an aside, the cheap no-brand charger eventually ended up killing my mp3 player and making my phone stop working until I removed the battery for over 4 hours.
In 8 days from Expansys I'll receive the charger for my device. I hope to solve the issue.
As I wrote in another forum, another user had such an issue with an Acer Liquid, while I didn't using a commercial car charger I bought months ago for my iPhone (it's a "LoveMyPod brand, with two USB ports).
Didn't try it with Desire yet, but as Floating said, I suppose it's a matter of howe much power the charger is providing

Just goes to show that you really DO get what you pay for with cheap accessories.
Sure you might save a bit of money at first, but you're also risking harming your device in the process.

Too true. And of course, this happened whilst I was on an epic road trip of Europe, with the whole trip itinerary on the phone and ONLY on the phone!!
A lesson learnt (especially as the official SE charger in Italy cost me the equivalent of £30). Thankfully the mp3 player was just a cheapo thing but still, very annoying
Hello everybody.
Yesterday I've received the charger. This morning I've tried it and it works!!!
Thanks to all.
isn't the charger for the HD2 that you had original (CC C200 ) the same as the desire ???

Not for me. With HD2 I've received an HTC Charger with MiniUSB->MicroUSB adapter.
If I use this charger, I can't charge my Desire using the Navigation app.
With the charger I've received yesterday, I've charged the device during the usage of the nav app.
Hi i try to figure out how can i made a DockingStation to X10, couse i need to recharge the phone every day and this makes me angry....the dock and car holder need to be only to charge the phone, nothing else, nothing more...
if someone seen somewhere such thing, or battery what we can use to make this work when please leave post and give ideas.
i find few things:

first is a fake,
second is not very comfortable, i prefer like iphone etc docks
Is the first a fake? I can't read the page but does it come with back plate that's pictured with it? It looks like the one that are aftermarket for the Wii remotes with the rechargable battery packs.

Sorry, how do you define a holder as fake...?
I mean does it only pretend to hold the phone...?
Or every time you turn away it puts the phone down, but picks it up again before you turn back, so you don't actually notice...?
Maybe it holds a different phone, but has a photo of the x10 infront, so it looks like it's holding an x10, but it's actually holding an old nokia
Although gotta say, they're some pretty nice holders... Mind you, the 'fake' one is exactly what you want - notice it gives you a new back + battery so you can actually charge your x10 without having to fiddle with the stupid port on the top... very clever if you ask me...!
What exactly do you meant by charging the phone every day makes you angry - you're still going to have to charge it every day with or without a dock, unless you change your habits (use less / turn it off) - if you just don't like fiddling with the usb port, then the 'fake' one is for you...
why don't you have a look on eBay?
Hm.
The dock looks awful. Nothing for me.
The car holder... I don´t like such car holders, due their size.
I build my own car holder... maybe I will make some photos today...

in other forums few guys say, they cant get it, and the money lost to...couse this they talk about this site or what ...
as u sad, this looks cool, and if someone can get or buy realy, i need it . Yeah,i know we need to charge this devices very often, but it can be easyest way, when plug in phon those microusb sh*ts..and not comfortable, and cant charge and talk in the same time...
I think the best way will be this type of docklets, and with this made car holder, if someone has ideas haw it made, i open for it.Like what kind of electronics we need to charg, and use in the same time, what kind of battery can we replaced the original SE type.
I just maybe can get ideas to make my own docklets, dont wanna disturb or make peoples angry and think and post what wey dont want to use.
I found the second one.

I got the receiver door a few days ago and I absolutely love this product! It was kind of a pain in the ass to get on, but now that I have it situated there are no issues at all with it.
I wish i could use one of these things, but i do a lot of plugging in and out and it doesn't look like i could shave off the inside to support the extended battery.
I got one, and it is going back. It does fit with the extended battery, but I can't find a case to fit it. My main complaint is that I leave it on my nightstand to charge while I sleep, but once it hits 100% it stops charging. So when I wake up my battery has already began to drain since it stopped charging in the middle of the night. I don't like waking up to a battery that say 80-90.

makes sense. i would not want it then either. i was looking to get one but i need a case to fit it too.
mine just does not want to charge my phone. the indicator lights signify that a connection has been made but the dx does not show that it is charging. I was reading on another thread about this and they said it had to do with the connectors gettin worn out, but ive only used mine twice so hopefully they will send me a new one. I dont suggest getting one right now, they are new and still faulty.
I'd stay away...
I've had to return 3 of them. I originally bought for my wife so she could just place it on the mat and charge her X and we've had nothing but issues with them. They're just to temperamental from even the most basic use.
I'd stay away and put the money on a docking station.

happened to me too it powermat really sux dont buy it
I love this thing, but a lot of people damage the back door when they first install it.
It's easy to fix though, on the back side of the chargeback where the flex connection go's in you see 4 little pins if you take a small screw ; driver like the eye glass kind and press them down it will fix the connection and the phone will get charged.
man i really love the idea of a powermat but glad that you all pointed out that the idea is there just not the execution...thanks all for the great heads up on staying away from them

3 bad ones in a row pretty much sum up the issue for me Was thinking about it.. not anymore lol
So I plan on going to an all weekend music festival. Not sure if my campground will have electric outlets available on my campsite. I do have two extra batteries, so that helps. But I know with my Sensation I could go through 3 batteries in ONE DAY of a fest easy. It's too late to order anything online so eBay and whatnot are out of the question.
I guess my actual question is, Any one have a good idea for charging batteries quickly? I have a car charger but that would take two or three hours per battery and I'm not asking someone to let me drain their battery like that. I know there are solar chargers but I assume those would take FOREVER! I wonder how well those little battery powered duracell or whatever chargers work? Luckily, according to the maps I'm going to be in a great coverage area so that will help, and I can always turn off the data I guess but... I'm looking for something relatively inexpensive, practical, and works without a lot of hassle. tia
id look into external batteries.
i dont really have any better suggestions. maybe someone else will
there's no way a car battery would die charging the phone...you probably could charge your phone several dozen times easily.

sure, but just having the car would lead to other things being used, car radio, and just overall, having the battery and whatever being drained is not a good idea. I'm looking for some kind of external power source. I've seen some reviewed, I'm looking for personal experience and what kind of process is involved.
there are plenty of external power charger...

that one could charge your S3 4-5 times.. guess it would have helped to start looking a few days earlier? :silly:
there is also something like this but you'd be lucky to fully charge the S3 once..
mintyboost.
I've used mipow and it's pretty good.
but if you're going camping, turn off your phone and enjoy the outdoors
just buy an inverter. problem solved. you can always start your car to recharge the car battery :good:

Buy an extra car battery, specifically for charging the phone?
Just leave it in the back of the car and connect up cables to charge the phone with.

I have the Anker Astro 3 10000MaHr battery for when I go motorcycle camping. That is good for about 5 recharges.
Find a car to charge off of. You won't harm the huge car battery.
Forget solar. It is WAY too impractical for what you want.
If you must have it NOW, the extra car battery (or cheap lawn mower) isn't a bad idea either.
