Come on, let's get a HTC Juno/Shadow section going - About xda-developers.com

I think the phone is been around long enough to have a section for it thrown into the smartphones section

all posts on forum showing as read?

I haven't been on the forums in about 2 weeks & today I came back & tried to pick up where I left off. The only problem is that the board is showing every post from October 28th back as read, & this is in all forums & sub-forums. Did this happen to everyone? I'm glad I remember when the last time i logged in was otherwise I wouldn't know where i left off.
Yes i know this doesn't deal with the TP2, I'm just curious.
Move to proper section
Never happened to me.
Perhaps Mods can move this thread to a proper section where you´ll get more chances to get answered.

Phone brand general section

I just today noticed the "compact view" of the XDA home forum page. (where all phones are listed) Now I had a idea. Why not add a General section for each brand? (ex. Samsung General ) this way people can ask talk and discuss things like what samsungs doing with phone's and maybe even lessen the amount of thread's people create, (ex. Evo 3D coming soon! (( as im sure there prolly has been about 2-4 threads of that in almost every phone community most likely.))
Well I'm sure you get the point of the idea for the most part.
P.S. Yes i know 3vo has released already, was an example.

Anyone Have A Spare Ingress Code/Invite?

Anyone around here got one by chance? I'd be willing to pay a sum for an invite/code, I live in a small town, and only have like one person to play with, so i'm trying to get him a key lol, he's applied, but no success yet.
You might have better luck moving this to the apps section
Please do not create duplicate threads next time ask a moderator to move it to the appropriate section.

What on earth is going on with the Relay 4G?

Okay, the time has come where I must ask.
The Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G came out in September of 2012. Since then it has quickly become the most requested phone of all time in the new forum request thread, gained an 80+ page thread in the G2 forum filled with information on how to unlock and hack the phone, and through the hard work of members trying to co-ordinate their efforts without an official way to communicate, gained an unlock method, a hacked recovery, and a functional CM9 ROM. Despite this, it still has no forum of its own. In fact, the threads that been instrumental in the work that's happened so far have recently been locked, making further developments much more difficult.
So I ask you, what on earth is the holdup?
I came to the Relay 4G from the Sidekick 4G. That was a phone that had great hardware, but due to a lack of support from Samsung, and a lack of development here, never got past the Froyo ROM it launched with. Now we've got a phone that looks like a worthwhile replacement for it, and people working on it, but they can't share their work here or connect with other people who could help. It feels like I'm being let down for the second time. First by Samsung, now by XDA. I'm afraid of this continues, development for it is going to trail off sharply as well once the phone loses it's newness. And I'd hate to be stuck with another phone with terrible software support. After all, I'm not the sort of person who can afford to casually buy a new smartphone every few months. And given how popular that thread was, I think we can safely say there are a lot more people who are eager to see this phone succeed.
I hope someone who knows what's going on can comment on this. I've worked on the board of a non-profit, so I know all too well what happens when a small number of people in control don't communicate with the larger membership. You've got a large group of people who are feeling let down, or outright angry right now. They're in the dark and upset and distrustful. And in the absence of reliable information, people are very good at spotting patterns, be they real or imagined, and turning them into very strongly held opinions. Speculation runs rampant. Then it doesn't take much to go from "Something happened" to "There's a conspiracy." And it can take years to get past the perception that something malicious went on. I urge you guys to communicate now and nip this one in the bud, before it blossoms into an ugly mess.
Any development which has been done for the Relay 4G can be posted in the Miscellaneous Android Development forum.
As you can notice just from looking down the first pages of that forum, those devices which don't have their own specific forum can have development projects posted there instead.

We get that there is a misc development forum. There are already development threads there for the Relay. Our issue is that we had a discussion thread in the G2 forum for so long, with well over 800 posts, as well as threads in various other QWERTY phone forums. Nobody seemed to object to its existance there, and then out of nowhere we get a simple "off topic to this phone" reply and thread closure. Said thread deserved the decency of being moved to an appropriate forum, and now we have no idea where to discuss our device.
We are essentially lost with no explanation. The moderator I messaged gave me nothing more than a "we could have moved it, but nobody would know where. Do you expect me to pm every user?" I was then told that it is standard procedure to just shut a thread down. But one that big, where for so long nobody seemed to mind?

Most dev friendly phone calculation

Okay, I'm looking for a new phone. I've been on this site (maybe not having an active account but using it at least) since I got my first Android phone. This site has been a beacon or at least a jumping off point to anyone who has wanted to get into customizing and modding their phones for YEARS.
This gave me the idea of why not have the forum statistics posted in an easily viewable format? I figure the phone with the most activity should be the most developer friendly phone (or the most popular one anyway, and I know just because something is popular doesn't mean it's good.) Still I believe phones with more activity are probably more friendly to devs than those with less activity, because they're in the hands of more people looking for exploits/vulnerabilties to make the phone do what they want it to do (and then hopefully patch those as well.)
Now indeed there are a LOT of spam posts as well, I see them when I get nostalgic and visit the Atrix 4G forums. Maybe you can filter out all the 1 or 2 post accounts/anything that has gotten banned from those metrix somehow?
it would be good idea, but at the same time, not good idea.
imagine how much that would make this forum even messier?
how search engine will handle such tasks?
popularity quickly changes, and there are no way to determine what is popular or not.
if post is getting a lot of views, is that indicator?
a lot of downloads? what if he post download on third party website?
and, when devs release ROM, mod, they go silent for some time, so they can develop more ..
as, indicator can't be what is viewed mostly, and what is downloaded mostly.
think of something that will make it do automatically, to determine what is popular or not.
as computer algorithm can mark some old phone dev friendly, because it have a lot of views, or posts, and when you look at those posts, you see it don't make sense, posts are about "how to unlock this unlockable phone".
TL; DR
there's no way to instruct it properly (machine), and it will clutter forum and forum search even more,
but we can make separate section which is maintaned by all moderators, so one person don't have to handle all., and that section can be properly handled by search engine in forum.
