I don't get it.. this is exactly identical to my Audiovox PPC 6600 and yet I don't see it in the list in the wiki for alternate names for the Blue Angel.. nor do I find even one reference on this entire site for "6600" - What's the difference here? Anyone know where I can find information and resources on this device?
Isn't that a CDMA phone ?
JP
PPC6600 is CDMA. Blue Angel is GSM. There are similiarities, but they are quite different internally. The alternate name for PPC6600 is HTC Harrier.
We do talk about them a little here just because there's no Harrier-specific forum.

Will there be such a thing as Harrier Support Forum here. In Canada Telus and various others are now selling this device on CDMA network, not perfect but nonetheless it is here. Officially known as Audiovox 6600 here in Canada. http://www.telusmobility.com/ab/pcs/handset_audiovox_ppc6600.shtml
Thanks
The harrier is a blueangel and thus we have a forum for it.
But is Blue Angel not a GSM device and the other a CDMA device. So none of the upgrades we talk about would actually work?
The radio is different, the Ce rom could be different, i dont know.
The issue is the forum, this is what you asked about.
do a search for harrier in the BA section, check wiki we have the roms and a ext rom unlocktool which works for that device.
will do thanks a lot.
Hi
does anybody know anything about tsim slot inside a cdma based blue angel (PPC 6600)?
thing is i wanted to buy an audiovox ppc6600 here in US and use it in india with Tata Indicom (CDMA carrier). A cust. care rep in india said that they have the same phone (blue angel) there sold as Tata Indicom Konquer and it is tsim compatible.
Now if Konquer is tsim compatible, then audiovox ppc6600 should also have the same compatibility, since they both are essentially made by HTC. But i do not not for sure if this is the case.
Has anybody done this sort of thing before (switching carriers with 6600)?
Or does anybody know anything about it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks
If I purchase a blue agel GSM PH20B. Would I be able to make it work on a cdma network like verizon in america somehow?I currently own a PH20A2 through verizon but thought about using a gsm phone on my network as well as uploading wm6 on it.If I did do this would I lose the wifi radio etc. Any help or guidance to the correct area i should be looking in greatly appreciated.
Hmm....
Well,
I'm no expert but I don't believe this is possible, we're talking about two different standards and as far as I know two different types of hardware. There's usually a similar model in CDMA for a lot of phones but I don't believe you can convert a GSM phone to CDMA.
Cheers.
No, CDMA and GSM are incompatible in hardware.
There is nothing you can do. Others have tried to get the Blue Angel IPL/SPL working on the PH20A2 (Harrier), but it complains about not being able to find the GSM radio.
I'm thinking of upgrading to a better rom for my CDMA diamond but I've never done it and the tutorial is for non CDMA phones. Can anyone tell me WHICH ROMS will work on CDMA if any, and what to expect? I also dont understrand fully how the upgrade will effect my carrier specific functions on the phone like Data, SMS/MMS and Calls. I use Cellular South as my carrier and I never see anything about them on the forums. Its usually sprint or alltell when discussing CDMA phones. Sorry for the noob questions but how else you gonna learn right? Now can anyone help?
what means cdma?
CDMA mena sit doesnt take a sim card like GSM phones. Its a different network. I'm sure its way more technical than that but thats the depth of my knowledge
check out ppcgeeks.com, the majority of the roms over there are cdma roms

Thnaks, That helps alot!
Anyone care to shed light on the carrier specific stuff?
The CDMA Diamond has not been very popular, so XDA-Developers did not create a dedicated subforum for it like we did for the CDMA Raphael.
I suggest following the advice given earlier; check out PPCGeeks.com.
Hey guys, I'm new here and I'm just reading about this custom ROM stuff.
Now I don't have a smartphone yet and I have verizion. I'm really considering getting an HTC Touch Diamond for $99.99, but if I got it, could I use any of the awesome ROMs on here?
I was reading something about GSM and CDMA differences and got rather confused.
Thanks guys.

Hiya Beaver,
Most the Diamond roms I have seen on here are for the GSM model which is the one useful in many parts of the world (including the U.S. with carriers like AT&T and T-mobile). Verizon and Spring use CDMA which is a different type of radio/signal and is not compatible with GSM. And so GSM and CDMA phones have different types of radios and thus require different software to run them. On some other types of phones such as the AT&T Fuze have both CDMA and GSM counterparts and I have seen software on here for both versions. I'm not sure about the Diamond though.
Maybe helpful,
d.

Hiya Beaver,
Here's a link to the forum with stuff for the CDMA version of the Diamond, but it doesn't look like there's much there. The beauty of GSM is that lots of developers around the world contribute to the development of the software since the GSM version of the phone is pretty wide-spread (though ironically I still haven't found a stable version of WM 6.5 that I really like).

Thanks Durkad, I suppose I'm pretty stuck with verizion. I notice there are some radio threads, they can't help me any can they?
This ROM looks pretty cool but I can't find where to download it

I found the website, there is another site that offers quite a bit of option for CDMA ROMS though it still doesn't come very close to what's offer here in the GSM site.
Here's the CDMA diamond site I'm talking about in case anyone here has a cdma dimaond.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=66
It has far more option than the CDMA forums here.
