Remove / uninstall Programs Empty ?? - P3300, MDA Compact III ROM Development

Hey guys, just upgraded to Artemis 4.01 WM6.1 (very nice ROM I have to say). After finally installing all of my usual apps and running "cleantemp.exe" to ermove all uneeded junk I now have nothing showing in my Remove / Uninstall programs. Is there a file missing somewhere or reg key or something?

Are you're installed apps still on your device? And if so, are you still able to run them?

yeah everything works perfectly. Its just that i cannot uninstall anything now as there is nothing listed in my device as being installed.

uninstall program empty

Not sure if anyone else having this problem, my universal shows zero program installed. Problem started early this week, and now I can no longer install any program, which is understandable since install/uninstall program can't query correct system software state.
Anyone has any solution? I really hate to hard reset and reinstall all my software again.
I am running Jwrightmcps's WM6 ROM ver. 2.02

I think this is due to an corrupt or incorect installation. I've had it a view times on my Smartphone and once on my PPC. The solution for me was to remove the apps I had installed last. You can do this using ActiveSync

Upgrading rom is necessary re-install all programs again?

As told in object, when i'm upgrading the Tytn rom (the same family rom) how can i install all the programs by backup file?
Or have i to install them from the beginning?
The hard and fast answer is imagine reinstalling windows on your pc... Would you have to reinstall all the programs? So, the answer is yes. However, you can try Settings Savior, a program created by a member of this forum that will automatically reinstall programs for you as well as resets your settings... check out the post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308100&highlight=settings+saviour to see what I'm talking about.
YES, if you will have to. Best is to back up your data. Save you some effort

But, if i make a backup file of programs installed and i'm upgrading my tytn from a rom version to another rom version of the same kind (Schap's 3.57a to 3.57b, for example) when i'll upload the backup file are there difference on register key of windows system.
I'm asking for knowing if the programs can running without problems about difference of register key from old rom version to new.
no.
you must reinstall as the registry keys needed will not be there.
use settingsaviour as the first reply said and it makes it very quick though.

Uninstall apps from already cooked+installed roms?

Hi,
First of all I don't mean uninstalling just any app by going in to the remove programs but the following:
when you install a rom you already got programs installed, for example in some roms you have tomtom. but what if you don't need it?
(dont get me wrong i use tomtom)
I just want to know if theres a way to uninstall 'cooked in' apps.

Short Answer: .....no
Longer Answer: ....yes, if the ROM is opened then it's possible by using the chefs kitchen and changing things around.

new camera wont load, media player won install

The new camera will not load at all, and if I uninstall the new camera, I don't have a camera anymore. Where can I get the cab to reinstall old camera?
Also the media player panel will not install with sdkcerts, activex deployment, and panel manager.
And what is the point Jack's Xperia Panel? It doesn't install, and it already came with the device, and you can't even uninstall it. So why is there a cab for a panel that can't be uninstalled or moved to another panel?
Help?

You know...that's why you MUST get the latest version of Sprite Backup for Pocket PC...
I have used it three times now, and every time I get back everything 100% the way it was. There is absolutely no incompatibility even after an R2A update...
That's how I fixed my camera problem without needing to reformat and reinstall like 50 of my applications/games!

Of course I am serious, but I believe this is only because I install so many applications, last time I had 40 megabytes left for application space, so I had to remove alot of applications (even though I didn't want to). It must be a registry problem caused by my applications.
So DO NOT UNINSTALL any of the CABs once you install these. Even panel manager R3A because once you do it you can't go back. If you uninstall the new panel manager you can't open it either.
BTW panel manager works, its faster but it freezes my device more frequently.
Mr Nguyen, as a Nguyen myself, you can trust in my experience with the reliability of Sprite Backup, if you want to see if the new camera works, install sprite first and make a full device memory backup (also backsup program settings + registry). After you install sprite, you can mess with your device with no fear.
I hope you consider the program. I love it!

what the hack are you talking about? My Xperia panel cab is solely for people using my rom since it's removed from my rom by default, and I released it on my own thread and no where else (but I have no control if anyone use it on other thread). If some fool did not read and verify carefully, and did not making backup (SPB backup never failed me so far) before he/she take the risk, then who's fault is it?

Sorry Jack, I had absolutely no idea that it was custom roms.
The confusion came from the fact that it is possible to uninstall SE Media Panel and the X1 Radio Panel.
And whether your ROM is R1A or R2A, you need SKTools to search for the cab in the internal memory or something, OR you can use the cabs uploaded here.
This is very useful since SE Media Player and Radio can be accidentally installed.
Also, sometimes I get confused as too which .cabs are compatible and work for which phones... and I don't search the entire forum archive so I don't know everything.
my media panel doesn't load - only blue screen shot and... : (

Can you join Cab files?

I currently have about 30 programs installed on my mobile. I would like to simplify the installation process of these after a Hardreset. Is it possible to mrge them into one single Cab which will install all of the applications? Or will they then show up as only one item in the software list if I do this?

no you can't !
U can use a back up utility like sprite(Free with THD don't know about Xperia) or resco backup. Create a backup after installing all the apps U need and save it as a executable backup or as a back up set on the card. u can copy it in ur desktop also. Now anytime after a hard reset u can install those backed up apps without any other data. of course it may not work if U flash a new ROM etc.
One thing you can try is to look to see how UC works and set your cabs up that way..
You can then run it manually, copy sdconfig to /windows and run it. this way you should be able to manually run UC after installing any rom (even if it doesn't support it such as stock roms).

Im not a Cook so i dont really know how to 'cook' that thing to rom/device..
Just my 2cents, im very frustrated with re-installing all my apps everytime i upgrade to a newer version of rom. It's just pain in the ass.. Maybe the cookers can 'kindly' include the baby above in the rom. That's going to save the user alot of trouble..

main problem with cooking uc in is that it massively increases the amount of 'bugs' in a rom:
99% of the time they're down to 3rd party software and having stuff installed blindy makes things worse...
if you can get it running manually (after you've tested a new rom for a bit) then why not do that? it'll only take one click then...
