Was wondering if there is any program that can do this ? Extract the registery entries from a cab file to a .reg file.. I know that WinCE Cab manager can do this, but the feature is disabled in the demo and the full version costs 99 dollars!
Isn't there any free program ?
Open the cab file with 7-zip or some other zip file manager. The registry settings are usually in the .xml file.
Rename the cab to a rar, or just use winrar. There are also free proper extractors, but I can't remember the names!

well, you always can install program that reg you want to get, then just copy its registry as normal catalogs/files with totalcommander on ppc, then edit on pc..it is nice way of making preconfigured oempacks.

I need an application to automatic extract and rename files from a cab installer. files inside cabs have short names and there's a xml file with real name/description for each other file in the cab. I'd like to extract all files and rename them according with xml ... is there an app that do this?

try with WinCE CABs Analyzer, it can extract files and (if there is a valid XML) registry keys

You can do it right on your device with SK Cabintgr.
re name to <filename>.cab and use WinCE cab Manager to edit it.
after edited change file name to <file>.tsk

you mean in the phone? i dont think you could do anything to files in wp7
BTW you can open .cab files with WINZIP if thats what you are looking for.

Could anyone of You post xml file for WM 6.5 with standard home screen configuration or HTC today screen, without any additional plugins or could You tell me how to unpack it from cab ?
I understand that everything what is displayed on home screen is saved in xml file and when and at device startup home screen configuration is read from xml file ?
