I just installed kin0kin's ROM and was shocked to see that there are only 5 tones to chose from, none of which I prefer to use in a professional environment. I was looking for the classic ring1, ring2, ring3, etc. that I'd prefer to use but can't find them anywhere. If anyone could extract those maybe from WM5 and post it up here, it would be much appreciated.
Yes and nicer ring tones from WM6 will also be appreciated. Because in the cooked ROM on majority of the cases only 3 ringtones are noticed like Ring-Standard, Ring-Vision and Ring-Windows Mobile. Please post here the original ROM ringtones. It will be much more appreciated.
Heres all the rings that are on a standard wm5 device
Thanks a lot, Tarka

This archive is some ringtones from Microsoft's Mobile site, but they're just ringtones from Microsoft Games (e.g., Halo3).
I hope you enjoy!

Pischk, few days ago I tried those Halo 3, etc. rigtones from M$ as well and although they are quite good, couldn't use them in a professional environment. But maybe others will have use for them...

These are some ringtones that I've collected from Microsoft's Windows Mobile site (they're actually free). They change these files from time to time, so some of these are no longer available (except for here on XDA ).

Well ... I'm hoping you can use some of these other ringtones in a professional environment. Personally, I'm using customized Ringtones for my contacts and then "Ring-FlamencoFire.wma" as my ring for everyone else.
Enjoy!
If you want the notification sounds ive uploaded them here.

Welcome to Dopod Lite (now D-Lite!)
Latest version is SuperD-Lite! (Links at bottom) If you are new to my roms, I suggest you read through this first post and the rest of the thread so you understand where this is coming from.
There are lots of nice roms out there. So, why put out another? Well, everyone's different, and I think there are folks out there who may be looking for this.
Note: For V1.2 and V1.1 changes, see below! I am leaving the links for V1.0 and V1.2 because they work great, and avoids hassle for those who don't want to bother putting in their own Java VM, (V1.1 and 1.2), or want to use this as a base for further cooking. (Won't work in V1.2)
From my own testing and use, the latest stock WM6 Hermes Dopod rom has proven to be the fastest and most stable of the current official WM6 roms. This is supported by the fact that a number of the well known chefs are using it as their base. (Sleuth, Shaps, and some others) I've been running my own version for awhile now, and am very pleased with it: its ability to sleep and play music, its skip-free A2DP, and its speed.
However, it has a moderate amount of bloat, which can be removed to make it better.
I have stripped the following: Transcriber, Windows Live, VOIP, Voice Commander, Autoupdate, Catalog, Error Reporting (though it still shows in Settings), SQM, Ceipui, Calculator, ClearVue pdf reader, Zip, the less-used ring tones, and the standard movie clip. Probably some other things too. I have also compressed some files to gain free storage space.
The result is a fast, stable rom, with a minimum of clutter, which performs all the basic functions very well thank you: Phone, Internet, Java, Office 2007 (without OneNote), GPS, etc. etc. It is ripe for customizing in your own special way. If you want it to become a developer rom, add that stuff. Add custom themes? Go ahead. Add functionality? Ready and waiting. There's plenty of free memory and storage space: 30.06 meg, and 59.51 meg respectively (V1.0, 6mb page pool). I could have added a few meg to program memory by reducing the page pool from 6meg to 4meg, but I chose not to do that in the interest of maximizing stability and functionality.
I have altered the initial customization routine to do only the basics: set hspda, set acoustic parameters, and a few registry settings. It does not access the extended_rom, so you are free to do what you want with that.
You will have to choose your own radio (or leave the one you have). You will likely want a replacement calculator (there are lots of good ones). You may want a voice dial program (take your pick). You will have to add your own carrier settings. (Cabs are around for most of these.) The start up screens you currently have will stay there. This is an OS only flash.
If people have suggestions and links for additional functionality, feel free to post them!
If you have never flashed a rom before, take care to follow the excellent tutorials available before doing it for the first time. Your Hermes device can be ruined otherwise.
I will try to fix bugs, etc. but this rom is best suited for those who can troubleshoot things for themselves. This is a hobby, and I can't guarantee I'll be around everyday to help with issues. However, I really don't expect a lot of problems, and you can look on the Dopod release thread for some help with things as well. (Not to mention the rest of the site!)
See second post for more screen shots (5 pic limit/post), capture screen program NOT included in rom. Memory stats are as above, not as pictured, because I had that program and file explorer loaded and running.
Version 1.0 links, Includes Tao Java 10_1_7_575 built in, 6mb page pool. Time-tested stability and performance.
V1.0 Rapidshare Link
V1.0 Megaupload Link
Version 1.1: Offered with some trepidation, however since Schaps decided to package two alternative Java VM's I thought I'd give people a choice. In this version I have also decreased the page pool to 4mb, which makes me a bit nervous, but seems to be running ok for me. The final memory results are remarkable: Free storage memory is 61.03 mb, and Free program memory is 32.07 mb at cold boot after customizations! See post for further discussion. (Update: I have added a 6mb page pool version for those who have issues with the 4mb version.)
V1.1 4mb PagePool Rapidshare Link
V1.1 6mb PagePool Rapidshare Link
V1.2 Update: In this version I have gone even further, by removing all .rgu files from the V1.1 base. This eliminates about thirty-five file entries in the Windows directory, and frees up about 200K of additional storage memory. For some operations, this should increase rom speed even more than its already "blistering" pace. The downside to this is that it is unsuitable for those who want to use it as a base for their own cooking. (Except for the RomDonald kitchen, which should still work.)
V1.2 4mb Page Pool Rapidshare Link
V1.2 6mb Page Pool Rapidshare Link
SuperD-Lite: Based on V1.2, and incorporating bepe's new technology of melding extended_rom and storage rom, this version boosts available storage memory to 71mb. Be aware that this flash will wipe out your extended_rom partition. If you are coming from another chef's or stock rom, you will have to reload all your apps, etc. If you are upgrading from one of mine, that is still probably safest, but you can check my last post for an optional method.

Solitaire & Bubble Breaker Question
Hello Edhaas,
Thanks so much for this lite version!!
I was wondering if you have the cabs for Solitaire and Bubble Breaker (when you extracted them I was wondering if you kept them). I have searched and am unable to find them. It seems like they should be readily available but I am unable to find complete versions of their cabs.
Thanks again for this version and your time,
vjgrace
thanks for the base.. i wanted one that i could customize according to my needs
Hi,
Thanks I also wanted a lite rom. Just wanted to ask, since u said it's based on the latest official dopod rom, is it exactly the same with just those apps removed? No special tweaking, interpollating of other devices' roms, other imgfs, etc? (like what the other chefs are doing).Just the official dopod rom itself?
Edhass, care to provide some screen shots?
Edhass, you just did what I was contemplating doing last night!
Kudos for removing that ugly calculator with the buttons I can barely hit with my fingers. I never understood why some chefs left in that calculator while they blinged up the today screen and added nice dialpad skins.

Sorry about the games. It was a tough decision. In the end I took them out because I'd already played them to death. The freeware site in the second post has lots of games, including solitaire. There used to be cabs floating around here for the games, but I'm guessing they were pulled for copywrite issues. If I'm in error, it would be great if someone could post links or update. If you want, I could cook up another version with the games, I think they're around 500k together. It may take a few days though. If anyone else wants them, please post your request.

Feedback
drgopoos - you're welcome!
joecruz - It's all dopod. I played around with using another Java, and some other stuff, but for me the original works fine, and is much smaller. I changed some registry settings, and the initflashes, and removed stuff, but no mix and match in this version. Thanks for asking. Edit: I did change the version of mxip_notify.vol so that I could remove ceipui (phone home).
alancstan - I'll work on that. Basically its a standard WM6 looking rom. It boots into the Windows Default theme, but I've included the standard Guava Bubbles and Mobile Green themes. The difference is in the speed, stability, and available storage. You can make it look however you like!
rob.ocelot - Yeah, the calculator was always one of the first things I replaced when I ran a new rom. There's lots of better options out there.
Noticed that Remote Desktop is taken out as well. This actually works out better for me since you can install it to memory card -- more savings.
Any reason you left the sample pictures and dogbark.wav? (these are some of the first things to go when I start a new ROM)
Edit: Also no HTC X-button, which I almost always turn off. It never did mesh well with the way I use my PPC (closing/minimizing things to get to the today screen just to open the task manager).
I'm very impressed with how snappy everything seems to be!

Thanks for the comments! I chose to leave in the pics because they were really small, and I felt like there was some comfort factor involved for those transitioning from a stock rom. (When opening Pictures and Videos, its nice to have something there so you know its working.) I also sometimes use the dogbark for my alarm. (and its also small)
Actually the version 1.0 of x-button is built-in. This version is small, and its only function is to close an app completely if the x (close) is held down for a few moments. There is no today screen option. (Look in system settings, near the bottom, I think its called taskmgr or something. I've overwritten mine with a later version.) I didn't update it because I know there are folks like you who prefer other task managers, and I didn't remove it because for those who like to close their apps and not hide them its a simple solution.
Best wishes,
Many thanks for the Lite Rom, will try and see if working fine with my x01ht with chinese input.

Added screen shots
Well, per request I've added some screenshots to the first and second posts. Please note the screen capture app was added after the flash, and that available memory is larger than shown.
Also, we're around a hundred downloads, and I'm guessing the relative quiet here means everything is working great, and the rom is just boringly reliable and efficient!
Best wishes,
Found this rom very good.
On the subject of a2dp skipping, would brief pausing be called skipping? I have parrot mk6000 hands free carkit. It's bluetooth version is 1.2. I realize that bluetooth version 2.0 is downward compatible, could this have something to do with pausing? or is it a processing bottleneck? or buffersize issue?
Thanks in advance

A2DP troubleshooting seems to be a bit of an art. I can tell you that my Plantronics P260 stereo headset streams beautifully and skip-free while running internet radio, or any of the usual music players with the current settings. If I add another app to the mix, the music will sometimes pause while the other app is busy, then resume. If you are running TomTom while streaming internet radio, you might get pauses. Or, the 1.2 bandwidth could be an issue also in that case.
I did a mini-search and found a posting by pocc that might be helpful for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1406333
Generally though, the current thinking is that usejointstereo should be "1", and all the "bitpool" settings should be deleted for the best sound. See here. Which is the way I set this rom at default. If you do want to tinker with these settings, I suggest using one of the custom tweak apps, or getting a registry editor. Let me know if you need further help.
Regards,
After working for 2 days trying to convert the 804 rom to 409, I nearly gave up. But then I saw bepe's thread...
If you like this ROM or tools, please be sure to donate to Bepe, as he provided the base rom and most of the cooking tools.
In my typical fashion, I like a nice and clean rom for a base.

Exactly the same as 6. Only differences are there is an icon for Task Manager in Programs, and of course the new SMS app.
I just took some pics that I'll post in a sec, but except for the About page - it's my typical setup.

It'd be something to try, but I'm not sure when I'll have a chance to play. I really like the features in this new build, and want to nail down all the issues right away - which so far is only optimizing the storage space.
So far 6 is my favorite becaue it was based on an OEM release, but this one is gaining ground quickly
PIE might be as easy as replacing the browser folders in /SYS, but I haven't looked too closely at the actual files /dependencies. Could get ugly really quick because of how integrated it might be.
As for SMS, never looked at the components.
If ya get the storage and prgm space nailed down that would be awesome. Thanks again for your work.

44 meg with MMS... whooo!
Flashing now - will post results in a few, rom to follow.
Edit: overzelous... still working on it.
Sounds GREAT and I cant wait.
Any idea if anyone has got this rom (any version) working on AT&T?
I have had Schaps 4.40(wm6.1), as well as my own build from Pandora's Kitchen. I am currently editing the OEM/SYS directories to accomodate the OEM Pack from previous kitchen. Slowly but surely its coming. Either way, WM6.1 is nice, even just for the threaded sms built in
Thanks mattk_r, i couldnt believe you got a release out so fast. Keep up the good work!
Sweet im gone for 1 day and I come back to every1 going 6.1 crazy!! So this is big storage and still only 60 hmm

When I go to settings/phone or settings/sounds & notifications/notifications tab, change the settings and click "ok", changes don't take effect and the window won't close. It appears to be a problem with the default ring tones that don't play and won't let you change them

Uploading fix for that now... it has a few extra meg free as well. Only 60 total free, but getting better.
Edit: I just uploaded 8b2. I'm curious how the data connect works, as mine stopped working. Not sure if it's the carrier or the phone...
Edit2: Nevermind the data issue. I spoke too soon. Works fine
What data connection issues did you have? On different builds of WM6.1 I have had an issue with Active Sync disconnecting itself.
Also, why did you remove MMS in 8b2?
Hello everyone I just bought a new Tmobile Dash and I have been trying to personalize it as much as I can but there are some things I cant seem to figure out.
1. When I play a video in full screen I have to watch it sideways. Its not horizontal.
2. I want to take "No upcoming appointments." off of my homescreen. I don't seem to have a "Today" tab under Settings to adjust the homescreen like I read somewhere.
3. And I can't seem to put pictures with contacts for when they call.
4. I was also wondering what kind of ROM I should install because I just bought a not so big 2GB memory card but I would like to make my Dash faster.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Already got the answer to question 3. Any help with the others?...

1) There's a registry hack which will fix this problem. First you need to download a registry editor. This program will allow you to alter or "tweak" various codes embedded in your ROM (operating system). Believe me--it's not as difficult as it sounds. You'll need to Google the phrases, "T-Mobile Dash+registry hacks+sideways video" (or something similar) and also "Registry editor+T-Mobile Dash". A page should eventually come up explaining how to do it.
2) I have no earthly clue how to do this. Once again...www.google.com is very helpful.
3) N/A
4) If you want your Dash faster, there are several other ROMs which run quicker than the T-Mobile Windows Mobile 6.0. I'd recommend the HTC 1.33 ROM or one of the MANY 6.1 upgrades by Kavana or rickwyatt. A user by the name of Mikey1022 has all of them in his signature.
To answer your #2... I have never seen or found a way to do this. It seems to be a limitation of the OS. Before I upgraded to one of the WM6.1 ROMs I found here, I was using Facade (www.sbsh.net). It is not freeware, but it is a really solid program and there is an active user community with extensive skins available. It also has integration with PocketWeather.
Using Facade, you can customize what is displayed for appointments on the home screen. You can display multiple days, tasks, static launchers, etc. I don't know if Facade is compatible with the WM 6.1 ROMs. I chose to go the 6.1 route because I think my Dash is MUCH faster with 6.1 than it was with 6.0.
Facade will slow the device down a little bit... all home screen programs seem to do so... but it never bothered me. Even so, WM 6.1 is a lot better overall.
I hope that helps.
the "my appointments" ( for WM5 & 6) not WM 6.1. is part of the .xml code in the particular homescreen you have loaded. The homescreen files are located in the /application data/home folder if you locate the homescreen file you have loaded. drag & drop it onto your PC and then open it with notepad. then if your good enough to read quasi-html code then you should be able to locate the one for the my appoinments. all you have to do is delete everything from "plugin" to "/plugin" , then replace the file back in the directory you got the file from then reload your homepage
I did that but it wouldn't save as a xml file, but a text file so it didn't work

when you go to save the file ( assuming you're using notepad) make sure you type the file plus .xml at the end of it then for file type under it select all files in the dropdown. That'll ensure it saves as XML

1. Use TCPMP instead, it handles more Video and Audio formats and is a much better program, and its free TCPMP
2. As already suggested use Facade. It really is the best for customizing your homescreen if you do not know how to edit xml files.
3. Contacts have to be stored on the phone in order to use Pictures.
Tons of Customizations can be found by visiting my Mods Page (signature), such as watching YouTube and other streaming media on your Dash, Freeware, reg hacks, tips and tricks (yeah yeah, shameless self promotion here).

Yeah they will do that but the majority of the time they will work.
i was about to go sleep i then i got in my opinoin a great idea and here it is
i was thinking about a theard in which all uptodate rom in ultra light and full tweakt in diffrent languages and a cab colection are avaible
and the xda developers user can download the language he want and choose the applications(attenched cab files) to mix his personal rom
everyone who uses a coocked rom knows what im talkin about the rom has allways an app the user dont really want
and with this theard this problem can be terminated
Good Idea!
But It must be with UC And all Cab collection must be inside on Internal Storage...
So you delete unwanted cabs from _Install directory and you run it...
Also Will be good to Get from start 140mb free ROM memory and 114 RAM
The closest thing i've seen so far:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498873
Rom: 162.67mb total / around 160mb free;
Ram: 109.07mb total / around 75mb free.
i'm using it now, it's really nice, fast, no memory leak and is great for times like these when there's a new manilla every week.

i was about to go sleep i then i got in my opinoin a great idea and here it is
i was thinking about a theard in which all uptodate rom in ultra light and full tweakt in diffrent languages and a cab colection are avaible
and the xda developers user can download the language he want and choose the applications(attenched cab files) to mix his personal rom
everyone who uses a coocked rom knows what im talkin about the rom has allways an app the user dont really want
and with this theard this problem can be terminated

It would work but it'd be slower than a current cooked ROM and it would be more bloated in it's use of storage space.
The reason for cooking apps and things into a ROM was explained by dutty - I cannot find the exact post but there is something to do with compression and space saving. An example given was where you cook in (don't quote me on this but it was something along these lines) Windows Live Messenger and it only takes up 100kb but if you install it by cab it uses 1.1mb. Thus installing everything by .cab would leave you with a lot less usuable free space.
Not to mention the performance related side of things. A perfect example is the new BETA Manila2. Whilst it's awesome, awesome work by xboxmod and co. It runs like a dog when installed via .cab IMHO and I've tried it on at least 5 ROMs. Cook it in and it runs like a dream. Memory (RAM) usage is not too much higher than the original Manila.
They are the main reasons apps and things are cooked in.
sounds good except "full tweaked" - full tweaked --> i.e. tweak.cab
and the cabs have to be oem'able i.e. by cab2oem.
on diamond there was fully of tweakies and the most tweakies are not for all people a tweak. i.e. faster touch scrolling. i hate this but for other people is a good tweaky.
I've been thinking about something similar to this idea, but to save on the space lost by using cabs rather than OEMs, it's a far simpler "plugin" kitchen, with a very simple GUI.
You check some boxes, and hit build and it builds the ROM with nothing else going on, so it's possible for everyone to do.
When an update like a new Manila comes along, it would be available as an OEM pack that could simple be slotted into the kitchen and then a new ROM could be built.
There could also be some provision for generating things like email/wifi settings in provxml files so when you flash the ROM everything is good to go including your email accounts...
This is a little project I've been working on slowly, and so doesn't do very much, but when I get the time to, I'll make it work, and do things. I might even open source it, and make it possible to build for different devices... But that's even more long term....
Isn't this what the people over at PPCKitchen.org have been working on? Just asking...

Yes...
I respect there work, I just personally don't like the way they've done it, as it only very rarely works for me, and it's not quite as easy to use as I'd like... And it's not the easiest to expand...
Does anyone know where I can get some original Nokia and Sony Ericsson ring tones? I mean the standard ring tones/sms alerts that comes built into those phones. I want my phone to sound like a phone when it rings, not a freakin' radio...and I like those good old Ericsson/Nokia sounds way better than the ones that come with the HD.
Cheers,
Tummen
I backed up some of the most common noika tones from some of my past symbian series phones, not many just the ones l like, like the Espionage tone.
Problem is theyre Midi, and some 6.5 WinMo roms will play them fine but none of the 6.1 WinMo seems to play them properly
I probably have to convert them first but I cbf.
Im sure if you search around you can find the stock tones.
edit: first google result for "stock nokia ringtones": http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2844
look at the second post, the rapidshare link is still valid, the Second google result had a nice list of tones but all the links on that page were dead.
best of luck, a/v scan anything before you extract the files.
edit 2: Well I kind of want a more comprehensive collection too so i got that same file as mentioned above, its good, LOTS of Nokia MIDI files.
So.. If you have WinMo 6.5 theres a good chance the native Midi synthesizer will playback them no trouble, if you have WinMo 6.1 then you'll probably have to convert them first.
in here you have lots of nokia ringtones. But you have to register do download them.
Nokia
From your mobile browser, you can go to www.polyphonicringtonez.com/wap. Used to use it ages ago but they have lots of Nokia tones etc. Not sure about SonyEricsson though.
