I had lot of problems upgrading my orbit, first of all i used Pof USPL for making my CID lock phone temporaly unlocked first i got some errors such as PDA and error [270] on the "PDA phone ROM Update Utility" this was easy couse i just disabled the windows firewall an i got it to work. but when i started the black&blue wwe upgrade i got some errors there my phone was low on storage space and when i cleared the storage my phone is stuck on the bootloader meny, i tryed to update with USPL again directly with ROMupdateUtillity not with the USPL_start.exe couse my phone is not loaded to winCE and not active sync, i did this by going to bootloader meny RGB meny and stgarted the o2 german update but i get i message telling me that the phone is wrong model ID error 244
With these problems i concluded that
You have to make sure that you have installed properly USPL
You have to make sure that you have free storage space
You have to make sure that you had disabled windows firewall
Any advice is very usefull to me and the xda-developers community

I also managed to get pof's USPL correctly installed. I then successfully flashed a WM5 HTC ROM just to test it was working. Success. I then flashed a WM6 ROM. Unfortunately I forgot to re-flash with USPL first. Hence I "BRICKED" my phone. A quick trip to my local O2 store, my brick was sent for repair. I have just received it back. Repaired under warranty. "Software Fault". Now I paid imei-check, got it unlocked and have now flashed BEPE's WM6 ROM successfully. So much faster that WM5. Great.

i am posting this thread after searching this forum for answers to my problem, and i could not find the answers...
I have the Diamond (DIAM100) with Original SPL 1.37.000 and GER Stock Rom installed.
My Upgrade goal is HardSPL 1.38 Signed (Olinex) / DiamondProject V2 GER / radio .05
I try to upgrade SPL, Radio and Rom according to several guides in this forum, but nothing seems to work for me.
I tried using the RUU Program with HardSPL, tried Diamond CustomRUU, tried manual Bootloader access, everytime the Upgrade Software stays at 0% (on the phone also) and after about 5 minutes i get ERROR [262].
Luckily, i haven't bricked my diamond yet, it always came back to life again.
i can confirm, that the device enters bootloader mode, then changes to grey screen with progress bar. But that is all.
Maybe it is a Vista issue, maybe not.
But all i get is ERROR [262]: Update Error
Suggestions, anyone?

... Running Vista Ultimate 32bit, but not sure if that will make a difference...
I will try to get hands on XP computer tonite....
You can always try running the RUU update utility in WinXP32 compat mode.
What Hard SPL ar eyou using???.... usually the problem...
you will need Developer edition if the ROM is not signed.

I ran a Hard-SPL (from the dev thread) Diamond-OliNex
This completed and did whatever it did and i had to do the basic setup on the phone again.
I have now got the radio ending .06 from this thread this thread and cant get it to work with the OilNex Hard SPL or the 1.34 listed in that thread.
I'm back to square one where Error 262 Update error is occuring.
I'm tring to flash the radio as the O/S i have appears to be running sweet but its having web issues that appear to be DNS/Connection related.
This needs an idiots guide like the other phones have .... 'coz i'm an idiot and I can't do it.

Yeah, but for me the problem still is to get ANY HardSPL on the Diamond in the first place.
I was trying to put HardSPL 1.38_Signed to the phone...
Adwinp: thanks for the advice, but did not work either...
As far as i can tell, this may be a problem with the USB driver from the Windows mobility center software...
I will try on real XP and give you feedback tomorrow.

The developer edition i.e. unsigned worked for me.
I am currently going through the stages in the wiki VERY closely. Dont know if they will work :/

I had the exact same problems. I tried every possible combination of Hard SPL and ROMs. Here is what worked for me in the end (no problems since):
1. install newest .Net 3.5 on windows PC (don't know if this has anything to do with my problems but after installing everything started working fine)
2. install Unsigned HardSPL (developer edition): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400950
3. install chosen ROM / Radio ROM with RUU (Rom Updater Utility): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396073
After flashing a ROM the device makes a hard reset so you should backup your data first! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705

Finally it worked, also thanks to all who replied in this thread.
So i like to share my experience in this:
1. first i downloaded all SPL and Radio i could find, then i looked for GER language Rom. Quickly decided for DPT V2.
2. First attempt to flash failed completely on a Vista PC (32 Bit Ultimate)
3. Back home, moved all the downloaded files to my XP SP2 PC..
4. Noticed: DiamondCustomRUU would not start in XP, got error message saying "... could not be initialized", so i tried the standard RUU instead, with the shortcut of manually putting the PDA into Bootloader mode...
5. Sucessfully flashed HardSPL 1.38 on the Diamond, and the device rebooted with Hard reset.
6. Next i tried to upgrade Radio to .05 Version... Failed, stuck a 0%
7. Changed SPL to 1.40 (Unsigned), now the Radio could be flashed. Seems that Radio Files are Unsigned?
8. Flashed DPT V2. Success.
But still wondered about the unsigned Radio file...

I'm trying to change the SPL from 1.40 Olinex to something else as I have found that since I change it to 1.40 any ROM that I put on my HTC Touch Diamond runs soooooo slow :-(
I have downloaded various diffrent SPL's but once I have run them to 100% then boot back to the multi coloured screen (not sure what the technical word is for that screen! hehe) It still shows that it is Olinex 1.40!!!
Anyone know why this is?

Flash htchackers stock SPLs then reflash with your new-found SPL.

way you say after hard spl your diamond its slow?
to change your spl you must do this with phone conected to activ sync (and not directly from 3 color bar)
I have ha diamond P3700 with the latest stock rom 2.03xxxNOR (norwegian) ,
Together with this upgrade came the SPL 2.03
I have tried a million times to put HardSPL both from Olinex and the 1.24 , The same problem happens all the time. The phone sync with active sync , can flash original HTC rom , but with any of the hardSPL the phone disconnects after turning black and after a few minutes I get the error message 260 , the phone is not connected. The PC cant recognize the USB device before this happenes.
I`ve tried to run SSPL manually, i`ve tried 4 computers and different USB.
For me it seems like the new SPL 2.03 blockes any attempt of putting something non-stock on my phone Anyway to bypass this???

When I bought my Diamond I upgraded it from 1.93PTG to 2.03PTG.
Although, I prefer English interface. So, I hard-spl'd it with OliPro's but I still couldn't flash the 2.03 Europe one.
So, after searching, I found a Hard-SPL 1.24 (followed the instructions) and everything went fine...

I had the stock NOR 2.03 rom too, and flashed with no problems using Olinex unsigned hardspl 1.40.
Using a WM 6.5 ROM atm, and everything works well

I got an old HTC Touch Diamond (Vodafone germany) from my neighbour and wanted to put a new WM6.5 Rom on it. I run a Windows XP PC and have a connection via Active Sync to my Touch Diamond and have disabled my firewall.
First I've installed HardSPL 1.30 signed by OliNex because my Diamond is runnig the rom it was delivered with.
After I've succesfully installed HardSPL 1.30 signed I wanted to install the radio v1.00.25.05 using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407956.
I've tried it several times but my phone stucks at 0% after the colored screen.
Then I wanted to install OliNex 1.93 unsigned to run every rom I want. But when I tried this the RUU.exe says Erro202 no connection, but Active Sync is enabled on the phone and windows has a green active sync connection. I now wanted to ask where my fault is and which HardSPL version I've to use to run a Custom WM6.5 rom.
When I downloaded OliNex 1.93 HardSPL unsigned there was just a RUU_Signed.nbh in the archive, so I replaced it with the RUU_Sigend.nbh in the Hard-SPL-Diamond-OliNex from a signed 1.30 HardSPL where a RUU.exe was.
Even if I want to re-flash the 1.30 HardSPL RUU.exe says Error202.
What can I do? I just want to run a new custom rom...

you need to use JUMP SPL....in order to pass onto the HSPL 1.93
Since you are using HSPL 1.30 it is not allowing. That is why we need to JUMPL the hard coded 1.30 SPL
