Love these themes. Not my style, but love your theme philosophy of not touchin the icons.
One thing I'd like to see is darker menus... I really hate the brushed aluminum look it's got now. That's one thing I think I REALLY like about the iphone's looks. The brushed aluminum menus immediately make me think "Windows 98" :/

ordering the X, any differences between the white and grey?
never owned a white thignie in my life all black lol except the HTC Flyer! and yeah the macbook pro, rest are black thinkpads, HTCs, galaxy nexus, blackberry and the list goes on on smart phone arena (except the silver HTC Desire)
i'm this close ' ' to get the Grey, but seems the white looks neat?
Theres already a thread on this and theres no physics differences besides color.
White will get dirtier easier, grey won't. Personal preference.
Both look great

Anyone think there a relative decision to release the galaxy s3 line of phones in red, white, and blue? Seeing how they were all in the Olympic mix

I like the change. Blue is beautiful and black is too common. Metallic Grey would've been good, too. But nothing beats pebble blue.

I think it was a complete coincidence. I think the white and blue colors are much more aesthetically pleasing than black. They're calming colors. Black is just kind of the neutral default. As for the red one, I'd bet that was 100% AT&T's idea. It doesn't fit the calming nature of the pebble blue and marble white or the nature ideas of TouchWiz. It's kind of tacky, imo.
Also, if you're implying that those colors were chosen to represent the US or something, I'd say you're almost certainly mistaken. First, red, white, and blue are all very common flag colors. Who's to say which country they chose the colors to represent? Second, the phones are being released around the world in the same two colors, including to countries with no white or blue in their flags. Third, assuming, then, that they were chosen to represent the Olympic colors rather than a country, what about the yellow, green, and black versions they would have to release? Fourth, if they were to release phones in special colors for any country, it would have to be their home country of South Korea, which actually has the colors white, blue, and red on their flag but is not getting the red phone.
Really, I think it just came down to the most aesthetically pleasing colors: white and blue (at least the particular shade of blue they used). Almost any other color would have either destroyed the whole design language or just looked really ugly. I don't think a pebble green (or moss green or leaf green or whatever) would have gone over quite as well. Same with yellow, pink, violet, brown... I mean, if the phone isn't black, what other colors could you use that wouldn't be ugly to a large portion of the population? White and light blue, exactly what Samsung chose (Nope. Still not counting red. I think AT&T really ****ed that up).

Ha! I was just going to point out the same thing :good:
I wanted Black or a "Gunmetal" Gray personally. Don't want a purple "pebble blue", so went white. Don't hate it, but everything else I own is Gunmetal and/or Black. Electronics, most of my shirts, even my car, lol
they may, but you´ll have to pay some extra money for a fancy color. I stay with the black and keep it classic.

As an international phone that was first released in England (obviously the location of the games with the same flag color), this would fit right into the OP's theory. It's not just an American market they're selling to.
Flat forest green would be nice. Or aqua.

If you look at htc.com you can see that the white front color on the Gold phone is not as bright white as on the silver version (US excluded).
Can someone confirm this? It looks a bit darker like "beige" or sand color. I think it looks better, so i hope i am right
I thought this too, but assumed it is just the composition of the picture.
Being a render, perhaps they adjusted the white balance to bring out the gold?
Obviously it's a matter of preference, but I'm really struggling between white and black. The blue is nice as well, but I wish it was more metallic like the xz1 blue.
The white with silver/aluminum edges and same button really looks nice. But then, ppl r saying black helps look less chunky and the bezels don't stand out as much.
BTW, anyone know why some black models have black power button, while others have silver?
Please share opinions.
I thought all black models have a black power button, where did you find black model with silver power button?
Coming from the beautiful white Z5C, the XZ1C white model was the first color I looked at, but was disappointed to find that it isn't really white, it's more silver, which cheapens the feel IMO.
I also think the silver power button a bit jarring on the blue and red models, had they been uniform in color, it would have made my choice a lot more difficult.
Ultimately, I found the black model to be the most elegant. I really loved the black power button color scheme, and also appreciated that this time around the black is really black, not some shade of gray.
The polished chamfered frame on the top and bottom looks very nice in black, just subtle enough for a display of sophistication. In comparison, I find it a bit too shiny on the blue and red models, and it just feels bland on the silver model.
Another reason I went in favor of the black model is because of all the large sensors this phone is equipped with, having a black body helps reduce their presence and blends in nicely. It's especially apparent on the other colors, and I can't help but notice their existence.
In summary, Sony made it very easy for me to choose the black model over the other color options.
black
Aah, just went back to the video I saw on YouTube, the guy switched between xz1 compact and x compact, in different shots, didn't catch the switcheroo.
I actually would have preferred black with silver/metallic button. I'm assuming that would've added to premium look.

The XZ1C's black power button does appear metallic, and subjectively I think it's much better than silver, and fits perfectly with the black body.
My wife had a black Z5C, it has a silver power button on a black frame, so I've seen and lived with my share of the silver on black combo, it's okay but doesn't strike me as more premium.
I was really drawn to the black on black scheme when I first saw the black XZ1C in person, it's very exotic in its own way, not to mention it's the only model that has a matching color power button.
Well, arguably the silver button on the white model matches too, but... it feels so run of the mill, very meh, works but boring.
There is no white color in XZ1c, it's silver and it's nice (my colleague has it).
I've taken the Horizon Blue which is more green than blue but I like it.
IMHO a black one is the ugliest this time (and I have always had black phones including Compacts)
I went with the "Twilight Pink" option since I had the Red Z3 Compact and I like the bold colour of the Z3C.
I find the name of the colour to be a bit misleading. To me, it looks more orangey than pink. Probably a bit closer to raw salmon, where it's closer to red / orange and not yet pink.
The only thing I would have liked Sony to keep would be the colour of the front glass. In all the older models, the front bezels were all black. The XZ1 Series started a new trend where the front bezel follows the colour of the body (not too sure about the XZ Premium).
Hi,
Got the black one and all I can say, it's really black and for my point of view, it's really elegant and classy.
All the buttons are black, and when the screen is off, it's looks like a black monolith : elegant.

Same here! I have black one and love its professional looking. I like the looks when the screen off, the device is one black bar. And when the screen on, the navigation bar at the bottom disappear and blends in to the black bezel. Gotta say the LCD quality of XZ1c is so high that the black is very close to AMOLED black, even in the no light environment.
I ended up choosing to go with black one. Gotta say, made the right choice; and the comments about black monolith and classy, right on point. That's what I love most about this device. 2001 space Odyssey quality monolith - I feel like I'm holding something prescious and amazing in hand.
I got the black one today. It really is stunning. It's a high quality black that i've never seen any other vendor other than Sony pull off. Pictures don't do it justice.
I got the black one and think it's beautiful, but I would've definitely grabbed a fully white model if there was one.
Loving my horizon blue...almost mint.
I have the "white silver" one. Yeah, the name is misleading, it's not white at all.
And it's not exactly silver either. It's more of a metallic gray. I was hoping it was shinier, like the paint on the Samsung GS7 silver version.
I still like how it looks though. It gives the phone an industrial look akin to HTC's M7.
I can't decide if I should go black or blue. I'm thinking black for all reasons listed. Blue is my favorite color, but the phone looks more aqua than the blue xz1. It's "lagoon" blue vs horizon blue
