All,
Upgraded my unbranded UK TP2 to WM6.5 yesterday and just re-installed all the apps; here's some initial impressions.
It IS worth doing the hard reset to do the upgrade. First off, you're going to have a nice clean install which is always a good thing; secondly WM6.5 itself is more evolution than revolution; small graphical tweaks, things are 'easier' to stab at with your fingers (the screen seems more forgiving), and text/menu options/e-mails etc are spaced out more to make using the device easier on the run.
Some changes/good things/quirks in WM6.5:
Owner information option is gone from the "settings" menu. Simply activate on the Today Screen, click where it says "Touch here to enter owner information" and you're in the same place. Don't bother messing with a nice clean install with that .cab file doing the rounds on here when you just don't have to.
The honeycomb menu is a personal choice, but it's flexible and clean looking enough to make it easy to navigate around. I've gone from using SPB Menu 2 (as version 3 just did NOT integrate with TF3D and the phone contacts (soft key) option) back to just using the standard WM6.5 menu and Today Screen.
WM6.5 introduces new options to reject calls with a text message - most useful.
WM6.5 introduces a new option to automatically activate the pen notes application when the stylus is removed from the holster during a call. The main reason to remove the stylus is to scribble a phone number down, so this option is again, most welcome.
VOICE DIALLING OVER BLUETOOTH WORKS AGAIN! The feature I missed the most on my TP2 works again. I installed MS Voice Dialler 1.6UK version and with my Jawbone BT headset I'm back to normal operation.
Re-organising the main honeycomb menu is a little painful; rather than a nice "hold and drag" method, you can only "Move To Top" or "Move Down". Putting things into folders and using File Explorer is the order of the day.
The new 'slide to unlock' screen lock is a real boon for not messing up your phone while it's in your holster and avoids installing battery killing 3rd party apps.
FM Radio application is installed as a default. Again, no need for 3rd party hacks or apps.
WiFi reception and throughput speed appears to have been boosted. I certainly get a better reception in my home, in the same locations I used to get slow/juttery video streaming in.
Battery increments - not seen it in 1% as yet, anyone else confirm if it's 1 or 10% increments?
No major application incompatibility problems that I can see as yet.
Run the Rhodium Advanced Config app over the device to ensure fast GPS, A-GPS and the like is tweaked to your convenience and you'll find you can get pretty much everything you want done with a standard configuration, with your normal apps installed on it, rather than hacking and tweaking. As a result the system takes a much smaller memory footprint and everything seems to hang together more smoothly and without slowing the system down.
Hope this helps clear some things up for your normal/power users looking to update their devices. All-in-all I'm really happy with the WM6.5 update. It almost feels like the TP2 was made in the first place for WM6.5 and its just come to life with it, almost as if WM6.1 was a (temporary) necessary retrograde step that HTC didn't want to do...
Thanks and be good to see other people's feedback on the update.
Adam.
Thx for the update.
Very glad to hear that voice dialing over BT is working again and that there is a slide to lock and FM Radio (without having to install battery killing 3th party apps).
Looks very promising.
Hope I can install this soon and add some comments. Dutch version however not yet available.
The quick drop down menu from the start button is gone in 6.5/ Is there a decent cab to get it back? I've tried some previously that did not work. One thing I would miss with 6.5. Yeah, I know a petty thing to some, important to me.
I dislike BT so that feature means nothing, don't care for titanium or tf3d, so ms 3.5 is my prefered ui. My tp2 is one of the most finger friendly phones I've had yet even while running 6.1 . I know it always seems to make sense to upgrade to the latest and greatest, but the latest isn't neccessarily the greatest.
Having tried several diff cooked 6.5's on my old tp I may sit this one out for awhile. If you've neve tried 6.5 then by all means one should give it a try. Judge for yourself.
Bluetooth
Does the fact that Voice Dialling now works over BT mean that htc have upgraded the BT stack, ie hopefully gone back to the MS one?

Maybe I'm missing something. It seems that the slide to unlock doesn't lock the hardware buttons. If the phone is in a case or a pocket and a call comes in, it's possible to accidentally press the hardware accept or hang up button. That's a problem that only seems solvable using 3rd party apps.
I'm very satisfied with this 6.5 rom release. It includes basically everything I wanted. The only thing is the Manila 6.5 with the animated today menu that changes as the weather from your localization changes.
even though this official release of winMo 6.5 looks great (installed the french one on an unbranded tp2) :
-i think the colored tf3d look is giving the rhodium a less serious image (too much green in it
-in general, the OS seem to be quite heavy for the device
-there's an obvious problem with the tf3d today clock (which is always giving me exactly 1hour & 2minutes earlier for 2seconds everytime i press the "no" button)
-also i noticed that the wi-fi antenna doesn't automatically reconnect to the selected network after i put the phone out of sleep mode, while the wi-fi antenna stays active on the phone!!?
and seriously guys, i still don't get why they didn't provide tp2 users with manila 2.5, it makes absolutelly no "SENSE"
thank you so much.
could you tell us if tom tom run ok and if you can use it in landscape mode?
s2u2 is compatible?
sorry of my english.
thank you

agreed, it's a bit annoying, it also deactiveates the wi-fi when you soft reset the device... I'm sure there will be a tweak for it soon!

s2u2 still works but the new 'lock' that this version of Windows Mobile is very similar...
I noticed the thing about the clock temporarily showing the time an hour and 2 minutes earlier for about 2 seconds. Can the OP please explain how I can get the owner info screen to enter my details. I cant find anywhere on the today screen where it says 'tap to enter information'

This is a feature of the manila/sense itself to give the effect of the old clocks with the flipping numbers.

never had this with the stock rom, plus it's more than annoying when it happens after using the task manager or locking the device with the "no/end call" button... so it often happens to me and when it does, it's three times in two seconds so thanks to htc guys for making it worst

I think it actually has something to do with the my location thing, but since I can't get that to work properly most of it is just an annoyance. Lol
E-mail to HTC (bug that I found in Manila 2.1 in the WM 6.1 that still maintains in WM 6.5):
Good Morning
I've been using the Windows Mobile 6.1 for a while and found a bug that I was expecting to be solved in the 6.5 release but unfortunately no.
When I choose in the weather tab the City of Lisbon, Portugal and update the forecast it corrects me the system time to GMT CASABLANCA instead of using the correct GMT LONDON, DUBLIN.
The Portuguese Time includes changes to the Winter Time and Summer Time, like in UK. To correct that I need to use always as my default city London, not taking use of the function from the new Manila: "My Location".
Can that be corrected in a next release?
Best Regards
Márcio Teixeira

Quick and easy - don't bother downloading and installing cabs, this is easier!
Go to Settings -> Today and make sure that in the "Items" tab, the option for "Owner Info" is ticked.
Now go to your today screen. There will be the owner information line - and if you've entered nothing, it'll say "Tap to enter info..." just tap there and enter the info in the control panel that appears.
If you then don't want Owner Info on your today screen (but just wanted to enter a username for app registration etc), then go back into Settings -> Today and untick the Owner Info option.
Thx,
Adam.
Thanks here go to srwalter for this much-needed update to make GPS work on Donut with both Vogue and Kaiser. I may never need to boot WM again !!
WORKING:
GPS Lat/Long Location
NOT WORKING:
Altitude
Speed
AGPS
Heading
(Therefore Google Nav is not fully functional and your location is a little jumpy)
UPDATE: This rootfs DOES NOT work on Eclair builds, and is rapidly becoming outdated. Check Android HTC at SourceForge for the latest basefiles.
To make things much easier (and for those of you who can't/don't use adb), here is the (unofficial) updated rootfs.img I put together this morning, it is based on the latest rootfs, the only change being the new donut libgps.so created by srwalter.
Download it, rename it to rootfs.img, and put it in your /android folder on your sdcard, replacing the old one.
And holy hell, I stepped out onto my back porch, and got a fix within 30 seconds. Absolutely amazing. Enjoy with the new Google Goggles and Google Maps Navigation!!!
EDIT: zShare Mirror
tried to use wifi but no luck acquiring ip. noticed it my data connection seems more consistent and seems quite a bit faster. using enatefox's dark donut 2.1 on AT&T with a tilt
ps thanks polyrhythmic for the quick work on getting this rootfs working on ext2
DLing now...hope it fixes data on Donut since there is NOOO at&t 3G in my area...there's a map for that...lol
Everything is working here... Data, Wifi, Calls as well.. when other part hang up then directly you see missed call.
This Rootfs is better for me personal
So this allows connection to 2.5 G (edge) networks?
Upgrading to Android Donut!!
It's great!, your work is very appreciated in Spain. I have tried the new RootFS in Donut and wifi and 3g data are working very well.
Thanks a lot!!!,
You're the best!!!.

the rootfs doesn't work on my kaiser, no ext2 partitions, not even finish booting either..
is this rootfs a replacement of vilord's rootfs v2.3?
or does it's working with mssmison's rootfs v2.2 (rootfs + recovery)?
it's frustrating as vilord's v2.3 only can only start the ext2 installer with the Volume-Down button exclusive to vogue. how about to assign another button "universal" to other compatible machines (if they care), or simply just "press any key"?

This is built off of mssmison's rootfs v2.2, so you must already have your ext2 system and data partitions created, but using VolDn is not required.
FYI for vilord's 2.3: VolDn is not 'exclusive to Vogue'. it is the same on the Kaiser as it is on Vogue: Left Soft Key. If you 'press any key' other than VolDn it will continue without the installation stuff.
New rootfs.img in first post
New rootfs is working !!! GPS IS WORKING
after long period i have connection. Restart and try again within couple of seconds i have connection
Volume buttons, and sipdroid..
A month ago I updated my android with the then available package. (Vilords).
I didn't delete the data.img, oops, but wow! sipdroid could make a call, for some reason it couldn't recieve a call. And I was able to use the mic on the search page.
I tried this rootfs, and this time deleted the data.img. I was very impressed by the speed, but then again I have a 100% battery too.. Anyhow, sipdroid didn't work I could make a call and hear the other side but it seems like the microphone doesnt work cause I couldn't hear myself when I called my house phone's answering machine, also couldn't do a voice search.
Love the progress, something needs to be merged between the two filesystems.
GPS - Works, but still searching for GPS
GPS appears to be up and running, but partially. In Google Maps Navigation, the blue location dot definitely is working with GPS, but the turn-by-turn directions don't seem to "see" this location. The screen says "Searching for GPS," and the directions treat it as if I'm still at the starting point, even if I'm quite far away from it.
Similar symptoms in the My Tracks application. Location appears, but the location data isn't actually used by the program.

Rootfs is not related to speed, battery is not related to rootfs or speed either. This is not a thread to debug your general Android problems, your problem could be caused by your ROM, Radio, data corruption, or a number of other factors.
You are welcome to merge any two rootfs as you see fit, it is simple to mount them under Linux, diff them, and make changes. I doubt that you'll find any improvements in old rootfs, however.
@usatraveler: GPS is almost entirely working. The blue dot does represent your location. You may not know this, but to get a true 3D fix in GPS takes several satellites and often several minutes, especially from 'cold start'. Maps will show you an 'approximate' location in the meantime. If you run Google Nav for several minutes as I have you will see it lock on to your route. Keep in mind also that Google Nav is still very much in beta itself. The My Tracks app probably needs longer to get a fix as well.
There are GPS apps in the market where you can get the raw data and debug info, similar to HTC's GPSTool in WM... I haven't tried one recently though.

OK, thanks. So just making sure we're on the same page - I am aware that it does take some time to get a true GPS fix, and the location is approximate in the meantime. In my case, I get the following sequence:
-Blue dot with or without surrounding circle, non-moving as I move, ostensibly a WiFi/data-based approximate location. Then,
-Blue dot with no surrounding circle, my exact location, moving as I move, every second or so. I had believed this was when a GPS fix has been achieved.
My question is, is there yet another step to a "true" GPS fix after that? I had been running Navigation for approximately 10 minutes in that second step, under apparent GPS fix, with Navigation not adjusting its directions to my route. Thinking again, in My Tracks, I should try actually recording a track to see what happens.
That said, this is certainly an impressive stage of development.
Face-meltingly awesome.
Three cheers for you GPS development types!!!!!!
I can now get a GPS fix within about 45 seconds outside!
The only thing I noticed is that Google Maps Navigation gets confused, and keeps showing "searching for GPS" even though it continually updates my position, presumably because the GPS isn't reporting a definite speed.
Yes
Yes...I've notice this too...kinda sucks because without that fix you can't get turn by turn =(...but great job with the GPS none the less!
Yup love the working GPS, but having the same problem with the direction / berring in Google maps and other locations. I can get my long / lat but it does not seem to know the direction I'm heading. Even on a 30 minute car ride, Google maps will update the location of the blue dot, but never the direction i'm traveling. Or in navigation mode, it will always say looking for GPS, so it will update my location, but not give me turn by turn.

Somebody did mention the Left Soft Key on Kaiser as it's the same of VolDn on Vogue, but I pay huge attention and never saw "Prompted to presss the VolDn now" as the Vogue chef said when I run the HaRet, even the words are so tiny but I'm pretty sure I can catch every single one. Could you tell me why I miss the prompted hints or when should I press the Left Soft Key for ext2 partition?
The prompt definitely comes up if you're using the recent rootfs... it will continue after a few seconds if you don't press a button, however. This rootfs is now outdated unless the new ones don't work for you.
Any new updates on a rootfs that will provide 100% GPS functionality including the fix for the "Searching For GPS..." in Google Nav?
EDIT:
Having trouble keeping the program focusing, so does not work yet.
It's a basic program which makes sure the display doesn't timeout while TomTom is running. Devices such as the HTC Maple and the HTC Excalibur doesn't support this function natively.
I have only tested it on my HTC Maple and it works fine. The default path to TomTom is \Storage Card\Program Files\Navigator\TomTom Navigator.exe
It comes with two programs, one is for launching TomTom and the other one is to change the default path. I suggest copying the files into your TomTom folder, but it doesn't matter. Remember to create a shortcut to the launcher and add it to your startmenu for easy access.
It could work on the HTC Excalibur but I haven't tested yet, so If someone could test and reply to this thread, that would be great.
Hmm?!? I've been using WinMo for quite some years, since Qtek S200 and also serveral different versions of TomTom, 5 6 and 7, and I never, but never saw my pda going timeout due to TomTom...
The same I cannot say of iGo8...

If it doesn't work its probably because your device has a different pvDevice name than my HTC Maple. The pvDevice name is needed to access the power functions on the phone (Mine is BKL1: ). What is your device name? I could check the pvDevice name and update the program to work with your phone and my phone

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am currently using my old iMate JasJam (runs wm6.1) as the GPS chip on my HD2 died. It is - hopefully - being repaired as we speak. However, as I am off to the Czech Republic in a week for a holiday I may have to use it instead. Nothing worse than having to restart the phone every 5 min as you are walking around trying to see the sights.
Don't know what "pvDevice name" is or where to find it. Under Device settings in wm6.1 it says my model no is Herm100 and Platform is PocketPC using CRCs rom version r13.5 but I'm guessing that's not what you are referring to.
I will try just installing it and see what happens. Any further help would be greatly appreciated as this app would be brilliant.
Edit: 1: Just edited the "Save TomTom.exe path" file to point the Tom Tom Navigator launcher to Garmin instead. This has worked to launch Garmin instead of Tom Tom but it still cuts out after a few minutes. I also have S2U2 running so I will add Garmin to the Exceptional Exe list on that and see if that helps.
Edit: 2: Still turned itself even after adding to S2U2 Exceptional Exe's!

Im really sorry. I just did a full test today and It seems even I can't get it working . The screen stays on but it loses focus after a while. I'll start working on it now!
When you say "cuts out after a few minutes" is that the display turning off? Or just Garmin losing focus?
Nothing to apologise for - just to have someone develop such an app and make it available for free is a privilege - wish I had the knowledge and skills to do it.
To answer your question, the screen turns off - I have to press the screen-on button at the side of the jasjam, then navigate to the Garmin program launch icon and press it. The program comes back up to where it left off so I guess it must still be running in the background. Of course, when I am on external power this is not a problem - it keeps running. OK in the car but not much good when walking around.
I have noticed that in System/Backlight settings the screen is set to turn off after 5min when on Battery Power so I have unchecked this option, ie screen shouldn't ever turn off. This seems to be working; however, when Garmin is turned off I then have to remember to reset the backlight-off timeout otherwise I'll quickly have a flat battery.
Nowhere near as elegant as your app promises to be.
Have had Garmin running for past 10 min while I have been typing/composing this reply and it hasn't dropped out ..... yet.
What do you mean by "losing focus"
Further to above, I have had Garmin running non-stop since the above post - 30 min - so unchecking the "turn off screen backlight" seems to have done the trick. Now I just have to go through the nausea of manually checking it again in he system properties.
Thanks for your assistance.

Its just like your desktop, when you are doing something in a window, be it typing, mouse clicking etc, you are focused to that window. But as soon as you click another window your focus changes to that window. So whats happening with this program is its focused on TomTom for around 30s but then it is losing focus to something in the background. Nothing visually happens on the screen, but as soon as I press a key it switches to the background.
It sounds like even the backlight doesn't stay on for you...
Hopefully I can figure this problem out by soon, when I do, ill post
For your info, I have two settings that seem to be relevant both related to Battery Power:
1. Settings>System>backlight>battery power> uncheck "turnoff backlight if device not used for ..."
2. Settings>System>power>advanced> on battery power> uncheck "turnoff device if device not used for ..."
When the Garmin first turned itself off I noted that "1" was checked and set to 5 minutes and "2" was checked and set to 2 minutes. 2 minutes seemed to be the time it took before the phone/screen turned itself off. Once I unchecked "1" the setting @ "2" was irrelevant.
Re loss of focus - no, the screen went blank. When I pressed the power on button for the screen the "today" screen came back up. I then pressed the program launcher>Garmin and Garmin resumed where it had left off.
Hope this helps. Regards Ross
Just a heads up.
You can just download a LightJacker from this address:

Besides the C&P and faster apps, there is virtually no other changes with NoDo...
i have no idea what MS are talking about regarding bluetooth, i see no difference before and now, still crappy sound. The same with camera settings (better stability switching from photo to video???).
I guess the most important thing is the stability of the system right now.
Ah well, time to wait for mango
Market works much better now.
So you haven't actually launched a game, or an app at all yet? Not gone into the Marketplace yet? Marketplace used to be a nightmare, and you needed third party search apps to actually look around...now it is ... SO SMOOTH :'')
And apps launch noticeably faster, and app switching (with back button) as well as apps running after screen lock/unlock are much quicker to load.
There are definitely other unnoticed bug fixes as well. Also, WiFi stores more profiles (still won't allow manual network config though), and some changes to About page in settings...
Overall it is a minor update.
yes i mentioned besides the stability and faster apps update, the bluetooth and camera updates were not significant (since MS stated that on their update page so i was expecting at least a little bit of improvement from there.
I was really hoping to start using my bluetooth headset with my Mozart... guess ill have to wait longer then.

I'm using mine since November without issues, no use for me to improve anything with NoDo.
Now that M$ have put Cut/copy and paste into WP7 can anyone please check and see if you can move calendar entries around like we used to be able to do in Windows Mbile?
I just want to be able to (both) copy or cut and paste a calendar entry to another day. Not the text within an entry, but the whole entry. In my work I usually need to go to a customer's house two or three times. I need to be able to cut or copy an entry and move it. I'm currently stuck on WM6.5 because of this.

Far out...thanks. That screws me over in a big way. I literally have no alternative other than carrying a laptop around and moving calendar entries around in Outlook.
Removing this (standard WM feature) makes no sense to me.

It was never a matter of removal, WP7 was built from the ground up as an independent OS. Windows Mobile had a ton of functions that WP7 doesn't because for the most part they were completely unnecessary and just bogged down an already fairly laggy OS. I mean honestly, how many times a day do you have to rearrange a number of calendar appointments? I can't see how it could be enough to lug around a laptop everywhere you go...

Perhaps not a priority feature as such, but the thing is - had they implemented CnP correctly we would have been able to copy/cut images, photos, calendar entries et all instead of just plain text.
OS support is already there, what is missing is high-level support in their first-party "apps" and APIs.
They [Microsoft] said that CnP was always on the roadmap for WP7 but pulled from RTM as it wasn't polished enough. IMO what they did was simply to bundle their existing CnP code with some bugfixes and performance tweaks in order to deliver an update in January (which was subsequentially moved to late March). I would be very surprised if there isn't a more polished implementation in WP7.5.

This is where the PR and marketing people lied to you. WP7 is built on the same old Windows CE as WM6.5 (more or less). The OS has been around for a decade in one form or another. WP7 is basically a new GUI.
I would not be surprised to see a convergance of Windows CE and Windows 8 in the future - once Windows proper can run on Arm I see no reason to keep on top of two different codebases. WP8 will, IMO, be running with Windows 8 under the hood.

how do you know its there in the OS??? This is not an upgrade from 6.5, its a whole new OS.
Do any other OS's offer this feature?

But in short, I know OS support is there because I can copy pretty much any object into the buffer using native code.

The problems with bluetooth headsets;
1. Random dropouts when listening to music
2. Occasionally the phone drops the connection to the headset entirely and you have to force a disconnect / reconnect manually
3. Headset button longpress does not start voice control
4. Headset microphone cannot be used for voice control
5. Videos do not output their sound to the headset
6. Because of (5), games with video segments cannot be played using a BT headset unless you want to periodically blast people nearby when the videos play

AMEN! This was the main thing I was hoping would be fixed in NODO. I hope a small incremental update will fix this before MANGO...
With my Blueant Q2 the sound has noticeably improved. I've never had any issues with the headset as I always carry my phone in my right pocket, and wear my headset on my right ear... Just out of habit, I'm right handed. However, if I were laying down with the phone on my left, at times I would hear static. That appears to be gone in the 4 or so hours I've been using it now. Other issues with the headset are the headsets issue, I assume Blueant will improve it with their much needed firmware update...

1. Never happened to me.
2. ^
3 & 4. I can use the provided features just fine, the problems you are implying aren't bluetooth problems, but search function limitations...
5 & 6. Haven't tried.
I also think C&P in integrated so much more nicely than I would have expected. For instance, if you go into a contact's information, and hold down on their phone number, the option to copy it pops up. That is a feature I personally never saw demoed and I am very happy it has been included, it definitely makes up for the lack of an ability to paste contact cards. The whole implementation is also much smoother than I expected, and also looks much 'prettier' in person than it did in videos.
The apps are smoother, not only in their load times, but also in their pivot controls. I kept hearing this had been altered in this update, and a few apps have confirmed this for me, with the exception of the horribly laggy Board Express Pro. The games I play the most to kill time (Spades, Hearts, etc) load much, much quicker. The OS is definitely smoother, and it's a big plus on the HTC devices that they unexcusably decided to use SD cards on.
I don't really need to speak about the market, as most people have beaten it to death already, but it's much smoother. No longer opening an entry and waiting a day for it to load the information. Also, when downloading an app, the whole process is faster and smoother, aside from the download which is connection dependent obviously. Going through the app list, and pages is a pleasure now, no longer a hassle, though I never really experienced the crash that others had so often. The section specific search is also a huge plus, no more music entries when I'm looking for apps, love that inclusion.
Settings have also been adjusted, but most noticeably, especially probably more for us on this forum who understand security is the inclusion of the MAC address in the about screen. I had to jump through hoops to set up my phone on my home network just because this wasn't listed. Also, it appears my network connection is more stable now. At times in the past, when I would wake the phone from sleep, I would have to wait a good 2 minutes for it to reconnect to a network, now it's almost instant, every time so far.
Camera appears to load slighty faster, and at least for me, it has also started focused already, rather than having to focus. It also seems to be smoother, transitioning through the settings and such. I, for one, am glad the settings don't save, and agree this is a 'feature' - those of you who complain about the video settings not being saved (HD settings) have to understand how much more space that consumes, and the average user would have no idea. With the exclusion of swappable storage, I think that's a BIG plus... Though, they should have some out of norm way to force it, just to make users happy.
Sorry for the long post, just wanted to be specific. I'm sure I'll find more goodies as I play with the phone more, and I'll try to post them as I go along. I'm very pleased with this update, especially considering how 'minor' it is.

I too can use the voice control fine, with a long press of the WINDOWS button and not havin a bluetooth headset connected.
But with a bluetooth headset connected, the longpress of the headset doesn't start voice control as you would expect. However you can longpress the WINDOWS button still, and though that starts the voice control software, because it's trying to use the microphone in the bluetooth headset, and that doesn't seem to work, you cannot issue any voice commands. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't disable the microphone in the phone itself.
Basically, if you use a bluetooth headset, you cannot use voice commands, but if you disconnect your headset, you can.
This is not a "Search function limitation", I'm not talking about search, I'm talking about voice commands.
Cheers

Now that M$ have put Cut/copy and paste into WP7 can anyone please check and see if you can move calendar entries around like we used to be able to do in Windows Mbile?
I just want to be able to (both) copy or cut and paste a calendar entry to another day. Not the text within an entry, but the whole entry. In my work I usually need to go to a customer's house two or three times. I need to be able to cut or copy an entry and move it. I'm currently stuck on WM6.5 because of this.

Actually, you can open the entry and edit it, changing the hour or/and day of event. Then it automatically moves to correct date.
For Nodo
Not having Marketplace freeze on me every other time I browse on it (requiring a reboot) is NIGHT and DAY!
Much, much faster....
Just a heads up, I did a hard reset after NoDo forced-update, b/c I had lost 3rd Party Live Tile functionality, and I believe that it runs even smoother after the clean-up. Plus, as soon as I synced w/ Zune, it started downloading all the apps I had on it previously...didn't realize that little bonus.

I'm using the google LocationServices.API for location. But the Fitness API is returning an error for me on the watch. Which I was trying to use for the sensor api.
I ran with this today...a few bugs I found
- No GPS error when there is a signal
- Pace field seems to skip around allot and not be that realistic. You may want to do like a 3-5 sec avg to deal with the wild variationhere.
- Avg pace gets stuck and does not change
- Nothing is exporting to strava. I got home, watch reconnected and nothing moved over
Other suggestions
- When play or play from pause is selected it would be nice to bring you to data screens
Thanks again!

One more run (version .65)
1. Pace is still way off. It has me at 6:46 miles and not the 8:00 that it should be. Runkeeper at the same time reports 8:01.
2. Avg pace is off as well. perhaps its using time from the pause or something?
3. Still no upload to strava

1 : The pace comes from the average last three location points received, will take it up to 6. So as a minimum that would be the average over the last 12 seconds.
2: The Avg pace is calculated from taking the paused time away from the overall time. Then working out the average.
Hopefully found the error for the Avg pace not updating. Unfortunately there's still a bug with average pace where if you paused the app, then moved however far and start again that distance would be included in the results.
3. Just to make sure....You need to click on the overflow button in the ghostracer app on the phone then click history. That's where the databases from the watch should be going. Can you check by just starting and stopping a run on the watch when its connected and see if that sends over. Will have to do some more investigating to see why some are not getting transferred.
Good suggestion about going to the data pages after start. Will try it for the next update.
In good news I was reading heart rate data the other night.....still be awhile off working though.
Thanks for testing.

I have MIO Link as well so we in luck! I just got it working using the sport gear app via some odd workaround, but its possible at least.
What do you mean the external light and the sensor? It gives you your HR zone via that light...I dont have any issues with the light
Hello
I did a second run this midday and the distance has frozen at 6.4km and the time was always running. The pace and speed were better than Monday.
When I exported the gpx file to runtastic, my run is so 6.4km instead of although 8.5 and the time taken into account is well the one to run 6.4km. I think that my 2 last kilometers are lost and I don't know why....
I'll try again Monday maybe with "my tracks" in parallel.
Thanks a lot for this app.....
works!
Thank you for the app! Ran yesterday, only 3 miles but in heavily wooded area. Was able to upload to Strava in the parking lot. Worked like a charm. Great potential here.

External light as in sunlight effecting the sensor. On my bony wrists there's a slight gap under the strap where light can get in and affect the light sensor. It works further up my arm better but there its more likely to slip down. I've mainly used it while cycling so that movement in the wrists might not help either. Will soon be testing it whilst running with the smartwatch so hope its better.
put it on the underside of the wrist...works great

Not sure whats going on with stopping at 6.4k. Did you pause the app at all? If not then it must of been google play services not updating for some reason. Will look into a way of checking periodically if its working.
Just had a mad couple of updates out. Updated last night, only to create other problems by simply commenting out the wrong bit of code. Long story short woke up to find the app not working just as I was about to go running. Hopefully all working now, note to self: don't update the app after midnight.

Crap...can you issue a new version then as I may have the old one. Otherwise, I took it for a run over the weekend, some more comments:
1. Pace is getting better. Still a little off (too fast) compared to my garmin watch, but its getting better
2. The history screen on the phone shows all the activities in KM with miles as your default unit
3. Perhaps history should be a high level tab to make it easier to find?
4. Can it auto upload to strava? or do an upload all (those not already uploaded) via a one click
5. GPS accuracy is great...nice job. The maps on strava are spot on and without any jaggy lines!
6. Can you have it vibrate the watch every X miles?
7. Are you planning audio cues as well? Would be great.
You should sell the app as a customized GPS running tool to import into various on-line services. I think you will get better traction and people willing to pay for it...just my 2 cents! Plus if you get HRM or other sensor support setup, this is killer.
Thanks again for your support. Nice work

I update the first post with the current version (0.68). So you can keep up to date with the version there. You can check in android app settings you have the latest one. If it did not crash then its most likely you have.
Fixed km to miles, cheers.
The history tab needs some work. Before wear the app just had a finish page and did not store anything other than the last ride. So it was just an easy option to put it there. Still unsure what's best.
Auto upload to strava is on the to do list.
Need to sort out some sort of lapping system. I'm thinking of adding an option for adding 1 miles splits, or I guess this could be custom. Then make a screen pop up for 10 seconds or so on each split. This could include a vibrate as well.
The phone app uses the text to speech function on android for audio messages. It does not look like android wear has this feature. So will have to look out for methods for audio but its doubtful for now.
I hear you about a separate app, Ghostracer started as mainly a cycling app so its not been easy to trying to merge the two activities. I could make a much cleaner wear only running app.
Craig
Woop! I tried Ghostracer standalone today while biking to work and it was way more accurate than My Tracks has been. Would it be possible for some kind of full screen mode? I started My Tracks first just to get the GPS going (to get a more accurate starting position) and My Tracks and Ghostracer constantly fought over the top card position (I don't know what else to call it). Another solution might be a countdown timer you could set to e.g. 15-20 seconds so Ghostracer has time to find a reliable lock position before starting the activity, that way you wouldn't need to open My Tracks at all.

Open the app, wait until the "no GPS" on the top left is replaced by numbers. You then have a lock and can hit start.

Craig,
Went for a long run today and some more comments
1. Your app says 6.7 miles, but strava has it as 6.9 miles? Strava time is 57:09 and your time is 56:55. Does it use a different method or something? Odd that it varies by that much
2. Can we have the distance in 0.01 units instead of 0.1?
3. When you go to another app, then go back via the "show stats" it should go right to the stats screen and not to the pause screen
4. Pace as I mentioned before seems to vary too much. The average pace is spot on now (great!), but pace seems to go down to 5:46 up to 11:45 and I am pretty much going the same speed on a flat surface. May have something to do with the averaging logic.
5. When going into history uploading file, then hitting back it shows the run, but not the upload icon. Could be because the screen does not refresh with back (not sure), so this may not be a bug
6. Time on the history page is wrong. I ran between 3:15 and 4:15, but the time says 20:20
7. You should replace the "No GPS" with "GPS Lock" or something when its found (with the numbers after). Even the previous user didn't realize what this means...its a great feature could be more user friendly
8. Wonder if the button on the side can be used to pause/start? May not be a Google editable feature
Again...loving the app. Thanks and here to help as needed!
Greg
