I had John Cody's Alerts on my old Smartphone. It was a fantastic little programme but he hasn't (and won't because I asked him) be doing an equivalent for PPCs
You could all sorts of automated tasks. You can get progs for PPCs that do those but there was one feature that I really liked and can't find a prog to do it on my T-Mobile MDA Compact III. That was the ability to send SMS' at a pre-determined time. Does anybody know of a programme that does that?
Thanks
Hi,
If I remember SKSchema can do this (and many other things ) at given time.
By the way - maybe somebody know good free sheduler?
Thanks

Hi! have a look at this link --> http://www.jgui.net/asms/

I've been using my Dash on the weekends at certain times instead of my tytn and I am desperately looking for an autotext or autocorrect applicaton. Basically, I do a tremendous amount of emails on my phone and this application allows me to type in three letters in an email like "mrq" and have it replaced with "meeting request" or "btw" and replace it with "by the way". I use Kai' autocorrect.net on my tytn and it lets me write emails so much faster.
the xt9 on the dash is an annoyance and does not perform the same function.
Qoolapps makes qcaps and qcorrect, but it only works on the motorola q.
Bumping this up to the top again. If anyone has any suggestions, please help. I really need this.
Bump here --- (AUTOTEXT solutions for WM5/6)
I have used Kai Autocorrect but recently it seems to have issues with some of the WM6 ROM's - can't pin it down so input on that would be great.
But also if there are any other options - it amazes me this is such a simple yet killer app for the BB .... example type bb = Blackberry .. type wm = WindowsMobile.... thxm = Thanks Much!
Not using mouse stylus and all that jazz just on the fly word conversion and completion with a self defined library of words. AutoCorrect again does most but has not been updated in a long time.
Thanks for anything ---
I am confused, too: used it on a Excalibur? I thought it runs only on PPC??

XT9 (DB edit) or Autocorrect alternative.....
Correct -
The issue is the WM6 Smartphone version and PPC versions differ in how they do Autocorrect - which for many is brutal pain..... the PPC version has in /windows a hidden file called autocorrect.0409.txt which can be manipulated to add/delete words from your dictionary and you can control it.
The Smartphone/WM6 since it uses ughhhl XT9 yada it uses a different DB which is apparently tough to edit - manipulate - to anything with.
As much as I wish the Smartphone worked like the PPC, I think I am hoping for a prayer here that won't happen - so I see only 2 options that would get us close to that:
1 - Some way to get control to add/edit change this XT9 DB
2 - An add-in app (which I have asked a Dev to look at but says its rough) to run resident and give us the same as what exists on the PPC/WM6 on the smartphone.
The sad part is all in all I could see the SmartPhone needing this even MORE since it's keyboards are usually smaller any anything to minimize keystrokes is key.
This is so sad --- Anyone that can help I would be so grateful. Even if there is some way to port some of the WM6/PPC ROM components over would be VERY NICE!!!

A call to all developers ... this is the only thing I miss from my BlackBerry ....
Someone must be able to amend either QCaps or MagicKBLite to work?
Yes, I've finally gotten around to looking into this whole cab making malarkey and while this is an existing one customised to fit my needs, it's a good learning curve
It's the palm threaded SMS app and it just plain rocks - really
So anyway, I've tested this on WM6 (Black 4) and it really works. Everything is already set up in this for using with T-Mobile and MMS works too! It integrates nicely with the HTC homescreen and includes a custom alert tone (hope you like it! )
Just to make sure the install goes OK, please use the task manager to stop the messaging \ poutlook \ tmail processes before you run the cab as I believe this could cause problems.
You will lose your existing SMS and MMS messages in the standard messaging app so if you want to keep them, use PIMBackup first
It's a fantastic app and I recommend giving it ago and if you're on T-Mob, I've just made it a little easier for you
Cheers,
Smiffy.

Any screen shots of threaded SMS? Also if i uninstall your cab, does everything go back to normal?
Thanks

Good point! Nice work on the cab Lord but some reassurance would be fantastic
Service provider?
Have installed it and its quality. I can't send mms though. In the settings its set to cingular. I've got the tmob settings bar the centre number any ideas?
screen shot
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/10/18/treo-750v-threaded-sms-mms-app-hacked-for-all/
looks like that
I'm looking at it now - I did test it on mine first but I think it probably kept the registry settings when I uninstalled it and re-installed it.
As for uninstalling...on my T-Mobile UK MDA Vario II, it uninstalled perfectly and everything reverted to the standard messaging app...BUT, as with anything like this, please don't just take the poster's word for it - use PIMBackup and and back it all up first!! It will most likely work OK, but...sh*t happens ;-)
Smiffy.
Thanks man. Your word is always good enough
OK, there were 2 places in the registry where the MMS settings were stored and I only changed 1 but it's sorted now (tested 3 times ;-)
And no, my word isn't good enough ;-) Back it up!! :-D
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Fixed and fantastic
Think this will quite possibly be the first cab i'll install after future flashes. Intelligent fuctionality.
Cheers Lordsmiff nice work
Forgot to say that when i uninstalled first version my old sms and mms were still there. When i reinstalled the new ones reappeared. Like lordsmiff says back up just in case but it didnt completely remove messages only temporarily when using the app.
You're right, it doesn't remove the old messages, it just uses a different message store but, at the risk of repeating myself ;-) back it up anyway
Which reminds me - if you want to reflash your device and then get all your threaded SMS messages back, you need to backup a file in the Windows folder called "PalmMsgV001" and also a folder in Windows called "MMS"
The file has all the text messages and stuff in and the folder has all the images etc from MMS messages in (I found that out the hard way )
Copy those two to your storage card and then back after a reflash to have everything back in threads
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Moved to rapidshare at mod's request
Anyone have any ideas where better to put it as I know some people (myself included) can't get them during working hours...damn those proxys
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Is it possible to install this threaded sms cab then alter the network settings by installing one of the available operator cabs or does the setting need to be entered manually?
Thanks.
i havent looked at lordsmiff's version... but if its anything like the ones i posted there is a possible issue of mms not working if you enter the settings manually... but his could be different...
There's not much chance of it being too different - it's based on your cab
If you want me to mod it for your provider, I can do that for you
Just PM me the connection details and I'll see what I can do
Cheers,
Smiffy.
i had another thought if you wanted to run with the idea.. i go back to work today so my time is going to be limited again.
The original version where based on the sprint connections, when i extracted all the files from the cingular treo rom and dumped the registry i compared them, i noticed all the reg settings were pretty much the same except for 2 lines and of course all the provider settings. But im thinking that if we left out the hard coded provider settings and allow the user to enter them manually that this may stop the "sometimes" apparent connection issues with MMS. So basically have a generic threaded cab with no provider settings hard coded at all... and if someone wanted to feel ambitious enough they could make cabs with just the hard coded reg settings for different providers (not the whole app)..
Hi!
Sounds great! Can it also be used for a other provider ? If yes; how do I know my settings ?
Does it show a alerts and integrates it good in the HTC Home Screen ?

I really love this app and would like to go back to it. MMS has always worked for me when using shogunmarks version but I think its limited to 300k.
Since your offering lord would you make one for AT&T?
I linked the settings I would have just posted them here but didn't want to miss something so I linked the main page for you.

One thing everyone should know when using this app is if you use any kind of app that closes programs like HTC Task Manager for example you need to add the Palm Threaded app to the exclusive list so it does NOT close when pressing x.
What happens a lot of times is most people write their txt msg and just click the x but with the threaded you have to wait until the msg is actually sent.
So the app should be running most of the time..
Hi,
What about the new sms notify; does it show an alerts and integrates it good in the HTC Home Screen ?

I've had a play with PocketCM, but really don't like the way it takes over SMS functionality. I also lookaed at iContact, but it's too raw.
Today I've come accros Vito FunContact which seems just about perfect - I need something useable with one finger in the car (and I don't like paying for stuff!)
Anybody got any other suggestions or thoughts?
oye Tangerine.....lot of fingerin' issues going on here...better not to use the w*** word!
Who likes to pay for anything?
The SMS stuff in PocketCM can be disabled. Have a look at www.pocketcm.com and look for posts on "settings.ini"

I did - but apparently it doesn't work properly... FunContact seems very good at first glance.
Try Sunnysoft Contacts. Very nice multilingual contact manager.
Try Spb Pocket Plus 4.0
From www.spbsoftwarehouse.com you can obtain this program wich now enables scroll directly form the contacts default aplication.

Tried it - touchscroll lets you scroll teh default contacts too... the problem with default contacts is that its too small to use one handed with your finger... I think I'm going to stick with FunContact for now...
For those of you who are playing with WM6.1 have you been messing with the threaded txt? I have used the troe version for so long I admit I miss some stuff.
Mainly the new threaded app doesnt tell me how many characters I have typed so I don't know when I have went over the 160 limit.. I have also noticed that sms backup doesn't seem to work correctly it backs up my txt messages and when I restore them they r missing and not threaded.
Another thing I like about threo threaded is MMS/SMS are all together instead of seperate..
Last thing is the txt don't have dates next to them. They have time but no dates. I like to scroll back and know what day and time something was txt to me.
Anyone else got any complaints?
Maybe some of these things can be corrected with a addon or something.
you can see how many characters at the upper corner.
I two think PALM did a better job.
I agree
Me myself being a Treo 650 owner and a hacked threaded sms user on my 8525 would have to agree the WinMo 6.1 threaded sms falls short.
No smilies
There is a short delay when sending msgs
No timestamp(with dates)
When restoring from PIM backup msgs are missing/ out of order....I can only see the msgs I've sent not the msgs I've received.
This may sound like a little nit-pickery going on but hell M$ has had a lot of time to get this minor detail right....

You can't be too surprised that MS half-assed this as they have half-assed every other Windows Mobile product for the last 5 years. MS doesn't care about Windows Mobile. Sad, but true.
I'm already messin with the ripped treo app again since it combines MMS/SMS together but the HTC Home Plugin shortcuts don't work after I install it..
Something simple so I'm gonna try another version of the htc today plugin and hope that it works..

I have a Wizard, but I think this will help you anyway.. You have to create a shortcut to \Windows\messagingapp.exe. I think currently, the HTC shortcuts (and even the button for me) was set to messaging.exe. After you create the shortcut for it and add it to your start menu, you should be able to map it to the button.

No, I honestly don't, and didn't find it in a quick search just now.
Honestly, if you're needing to retain that volume of SMS messages, I would suggest using something like microsoft's free myphone which backs up your messages to the cloud and stores them for you there in bulk, for you to restore to your phone any view there anytime you want, or even view/manage them through a website from any pc. I do this, and only retain whatever sms threads I currently have active and recent, and all the rest I just store there for any future need to refer back to them. The SMS module in WM tends to get less stable the more messages you pack in there, so this is just a good way to keep the phone as lean and efficient as possible
EDIT: please note that myphone does NOT backup MMS, just SMS (and certain other folders as well)

Yes, you're right, and that's what I was originally suggesting that tool for, I got confused with another item I was searching for at the same time, sorry
That tool actually gives the following options for retaining the call log:
5000
10000
20000
30000
40000
50000
Maximum
hope that's enough for you lol
it is enough, but it doesnt work, reality is 300 entries even if i change to a larger number, tool dont change it
