Help - Tomtom starts after every soft reset - P3300, MDA Compact III General

I recently upgraded to WM6 and now Tomtom starts every time I soft reset. I've checked in the startup folder but there is no link to Tomtom. It's driving me crazy, can anyone suggest why it is happening?
Thanks,
Cojo

rename autorun.exe to autorun.bak in the 2577 folder on your storage card.

Skill! It worked.
Thank you v much

Help with TOMTOM 5 Navigator installation on XDA Exec

I have just bought a TomTom 5 Navigator with GPS (used), problem is when I put the SD card into the XDA the TomTom screen flashes up then disappears and nothing else happens. As I am new to all this can ANYONE help me with instructions on how to install and get this working???
Find the .CAB files on the SD card and install them - then do a soft reset Hope this helps...
Will give that a try, thanks
Hi,
Important! - Before you install.
Be sure to copy the 'TomTom' folder which has the 'CurrentMap.dat'
file to the PocketPC's 'My Documents' folder first. It should be a small folder and CURRENTMAP.DAT is only a couple of hundred bytes long.
Then install the software as normal.
No offence but the copy you have bought is not so much second hand as "hacked"
Hope that's a help
Cheers
Chris

Goin' nuts! Who can help me with this?

Hello all, best wishes for all of you.
I am new on this forum and read many stuff here allready. However i didn't find a real solution yet for my problem to get cab-files installed, f.e.:
I'd like to install Gyrator 2 on my HTC Touch HD (UK) (And other software)
When i try this i get this error:
"The file "gyrator" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring the file".
The same message occures when i try to do this with other cab-files. GSen was going fine and even CabInstaller did. Net Compact Framework 3.5. installed and ROM version: 1.14.401.3
I copied the cab-files from PC to PPC by dragging it into the Storage Card.
I would really appreciate your help, because im goin' nuts!!!
Tia ....
Hello.
try this:
- make a soft reset and try again to install from the SD card
- make a soft reset, copy the .cab file with activesync to the phone memory (not on the SD card) and try again to install
when this also won´t work I´m afraid you will have to hard reset your phone..
i had same problem
why dont you just use Gsen, same thing, works great! its definately here

As said it is not only Gyrator but it occures with more cab-files. The rotate is not my only goal, therefor i surely could use Gsen, but Gyrator 2 cn do much more. The same with other 3rd Party's ...
Use Advanced Configuration to make sure that your security warning is disabled.
What .cabs are you trying to install?

Problem solved! The way i used CabInstaller was wrong. Instead of open the CaBinstaller first and then adding the cab-file and destination path, i double clicked on the cab-files first and then it won't work, because i gave CabInstaller permission to take over the control of installing cab-files
Thank you anyway for thinking with me ..
Great to hear you solved your problem!
<off-topic>Could you please change your subject in the initial post? subject is supposed to describe what the thread is about like "unable to install CAB files" or something like that...thanks<off-topic>

I haved the same problem, need help
have the same problem
do you solve your pb help me plz
I just had the same issue and found the fix for me, may work for you too
I searched "My Device" using a file explorer and found no instances of boot.exe on the device
Using a registry editor (I use Resco Registry Editor) I searched the registry for any instances of boot.exe
I found 2 instances that were both associated with one program (ClearTemp)
I uninstalled that program, soft reset and the issue was resolved.
I was then able to reinstall and everything worked as advertised.
Hope this is helpful,
J
just delete...
the cleartmp file in startup folder...this worked for me

I assume this is not working to you right?
Please explain more
Hi guys,
After I installed Tomal 9.0 rom, I also get stuck in calibration step.
I do the "welcome.not", but now I can not align the screen.
Using the screen is very hard, because I miss the icons that I want.
With 8.9 I noted some erratic behaviors, but it works +- fine.
It´s a hardware problem?
If not what should I do? reformat?
Thanks
Yes, probably the best thing to do is Doc format and then reflash
Or you can remove the welcomehead.not from sd and do a hard reset....

Hi!!
I just make a new text file(in PC) rename it (welcome.not), and copy it to the root of the SD card, sof reset and he "works", but still have the problem about accuracy
Good luck!
but i do not have the memory card reader right now... is there any rom out here which comes without this option.. .ie to align the screen ..
No, all the ROM´s come with align screen as default

how to remove BtSdkCE30.dll BtCoreIf.dll???

Hi guys,
I am new here, so sorry if these two questions are obvious to everybody on this forum. I installed tt7 on my rhodium and modified BtSdkCE30.dll BtCoreIf.dll: no more bluetooth. Read the forum and figure out they need to be removed. Thus, I tried to delete, move and rename them to no avail. They are write protected and none I tried worked. So, please how do I remove them for good? Is there a way? Second question, when people are talking about hard reset on this forum they mean really reinstalling the OS?
Thanks
Max

Simple answer uninstall tomtom then restart the phone then you will still have the files but the good ones tomtom writes new ones that dont work with this phone so when your done installing tomtom install this one and you are all set
ttn7.916.9189_original_patched 4 tilt2 TouchPro2_1.cab
then check your bluetooth should be working
Hi
give them a other name works also.

A hard reset will reinstall the OS and wipe any of your registry changes, software installs and data stored in your internal memory. It's not the same as upgrading or installing a new OS though.

Yes but they will still be there taking up space that can be used for other files

and as for the hard reset to much time and trouble for something that can be deleted. or removed easily
The two .dll's are write protected on my tp2 !!!
Actually, I had to do a hard reset. No way I could remove or rename those two files. After the hard reset, I restored a previous backup - done before I installed tomtom. Finally, I modified the tt7 .cab file with WinCE CAB manager to remove the two nasty .dll's and reinstalled. Now, everything works ok.
Thanks
Max
I got the same problem.
I installed the WinCE Cab Manager and try to modify the TT7.cab file.
How to do it? I didn't see the 2 files!
Please help!!
