Internet explorer not working

Hi, i have a friend who's BA can pick up WIFI. The messenger works fine but when he tried to get a page up, it says page cannot be found. Any ideas?
Check the proxy settings.
MSN Messenger connects using the default gateway or SOCKS4/5 proxy while Internet Explorer uses a the HTTP proxy settings first, if specified.

Help with Cingular, not Custel's cab ( I don't think)

Hello all,
I am running Black 3x, my question is this, I would like to contact to Cingular's network (data) but do not need or want all the apps it looks like the cab will install. I essentially would only like to use messenger and sync my outlook w/ exchange.
How would this be easiest, when I go to settings/connections/advanced I have the options of "my isp" or "work network" shouldn't there be a gprs or something?
Please help.
Thanks
Search for the cab shogun_cing, Id post it myself but Im not the most technical person here (prob the least) But I have figured allot out by searching as irritating as it can be sometimes, it does help.
See my sig file for a link to wpbears cingular settings cab .... works great

If you want to do it manually, it's easy:
1. Go into settings/connections/advanced and either choose "My ISP" and "Edit", or "New" if you want to create a new connection. (I always just edit My ISP.)
2. In the "General" tab, enter a name for your settings; doesn't matter what it is. Then click the "Modem" tab.
3. On the Modem screen, click "New." Give the connection a name (Cingular GPRS or whatever you want) and select "Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G) from the dropdown list. Click Next.
NOTE: these settings are for MediaNet; if you're on a PDA connect plan, I *think* you just need to substitute "isp" for "wap" in the following settings, but I'm not 100% sure as I'm not on that plan.
4. Enter wap.cingular as the access point name and click next. Enter [email protected] as the username and CINGULAR1 as the password.
5. Click Finish. On the Network Management screen, make sure your newly-created connection is selected for the "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:" box.
6. You may need to go into Settings->Wifi->Network Adapters tab and select "The Internet" under "My network card connects to:"
This should give you access to the Internet, Exchange syncing, etc. Works for me, anyway.

how to change proxy settings in email

hi all
i have a xda orbit, aka htc artemis. my service provider, after much delay, helped me to set up the internet settings for my device. now the problem is, they have made me change the port numbers from 80 to 9401 and have set up a connection in "work" settings, whenever i try to download emails from my yahoo account, which supports pop3, it says error in synch and to check my net connection. the same works fine if i connect my device to the pc with internet connection. similar thing happens with most of other apps which use internet
can someone help me on how to change the proxy settings on other apps or how to make other apps use the same connections settings please.
thanks

Internet,GPS, and MMS For Metropcs

I flashed the new rom 6.1 from HTC for sprint and had to reflash back to metropcs. Now when I try to access the Internet I get and error message that says " Requested content ( to any website ) cannot be accessed. You don't have access to the site. Now I have the internet plan and I have done all the step from this site to configure the settings. Can someone Please help me to get the internet, gps, and mms back? Please
Did you try calling then because they may have re-initialize your phone.
Are you sure in the connection settings that you have the correct user name & password?
Yea I think so user name is my ten digit @mymetropcs.com and password is metropcs
Metro pcs internet settings
Are you able to access your "connections" settings?
Under connections chose manage existing connections.
Make sure it dials #777.
As with EVERY phone used on MetroPCS, set your username to [email protected]
The password can be anything or empty.
Now in proxy settings, make sure you check "this network connects to the internet" and "this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet".
In it's advanced settings, enter wap.metropcs.net as the proxy address, then set HTTP, WAP and SOCKS to port 3128. Secure WAP to port 443.
Load Internet Explorer, in the url/address box enter the address you wish to load. It might fail, reload.. Make sure your data arrows show that you connected.
The page should load the 2nd time.. It almost always fails the first load.. Reason is posted on another thread, but it doesn't matter..
Have fun..

So how does this work for the Palm pre?. =)

Unable to browse to secure sites

I just receieved my TP2 yesterday from mobilephonesdirect (with a T-Mobile contract).
I've run into a problem with trying to browse to secure sites or access my hosted exchange and pop email accounts (both over secure connections).
Activesync returns the error "ActiveSync cannot reach the server. Check that the server address and proxy server settings are correct.". Trying to browse to a https://... address in opera mobile causes it to crash, and in IE I get a dialog saying it cannot find the url and "Make sure the path or Internet address is correct."
I did discover this thread over at expansys about the same problem with the Touch Pro (http://www.expansys-usa.com/ft.aspx?k=113037) but following the steps doesn't work for me, unticking the "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet" option just reticks it the next time I view the settings.
I can't find any settings different between my new TP2 and Vario3 so I'm stuck. Has anyone else had issues?
It's fixed now
I did a soft reset and then the unticking the proxy server setting actually worked. Not quite sure why the TP2 requires this to be unticked yet my Vario 5 is working with it ticked.
Doesn't work
I can untick the proxy but this doesn't solve my activesync/exchange problem. I can access POP3 email etc fine and access my exchange account over wifi or via USB, so I assume it's a T-mobile issue. Anybody any help? I have tried searching and the only other h suggestion was to change proxy server to end in .135 instead of .132, but this doesn't work either.
Now does work
Had to delete the T-mobile settgins that wereautomatically configured, restart, then do the automatic configuration again, then uncheck proxy box before making any connections, then restart and voila!
