If you want an easy and secure way, then just wait until HTC releases the official WM6.
However, i have the WWE rom on my unlocked P3300 (original TMO Dutch). Read through that topic, it's quite straight forward and easy to do.
is there a posisbility to get the WWE rom in german???
I simply installed the O2 Image on my unlocked TMob MDA C III... Works fine and no problems during the upgrade.
Anybody have WM6 for dopod c720w I need it for my smartphone?

AFAIK, T-Mobile Dash, Dopod 720w and HTC S620 are the same hardware except for outer casing and keyboard. They can share same software but their distributors have set a check: you are allowed to upgrade only if the CID code of the upgrade matchs the one on the device.
The easier way to CID unlock you device is to pay someone (like http://www.imei-check.co.uk/dashunlock.php) to do it. It's somewhat expensive ($38) but there wasn't any problem with anyone so far. As a bonus, it also SIM unclock your mobile.
When you pda is unlocked, just find (its easy) the T-Mobile upgrade file. (a pretty large exe file) and run it. That's all, 5-25 min later you will have an PDA running WM6... and branded with T-Mobile crap.
I have this device, but I'm waiting for the official HTC S620 upgrade wich should be released between june 15th (official press date - pleeeaaassee) and mid october (as said by technical support).
Hope this helps.
I have a c720w as well, and I am waiting for the HTC s620 rom. It will have less crap than T-Mobile's version and should be better.
Is there no other way to CID Unlock your phone than to pay for it? Will it void my warranty?
does anyone have a link the original WM5 ROM for the dopod c720w?
i have WM6 on it now and i think WM6 is crap, i need to go back to WM5.
You can get the WM5 rom from Dopod's members area..
the dopod site is all in japanese i think...cant find an english version...can you post a link to an english site or better yet a l ink to the ro m?
Go to www.dopodasia.com, or better, go here http://www.dopodasia.com/global/index.html
It lets you choose your country. I am surprised you can't see it.
its askin for a serial number before it lets me download anything. and i have an HTC cavalier not the dopod c730...can anyone post a link for me to download the original 730 windows mobile 5 please....

I think you really need to figure out which device you are using seeing as thought you have mentioned both the Dopod c720 and c730 which are two different devices. the c720 is WM5 native and can be upgraded to the T-Mobile Dash WM6 rom after CID unlocking. The Dopod c730 (HTC Cavalier) is a WM6 native device and therefore there is NO WM5 rom for it!

Well, my HTC S630 (Cavalier), for an instance, has WM5 ROM on it. I have pre-production handset. received back in December 2006.
As far as I am aware HTC Cavalier WM6 downloadable firmware files have not been made available for public acess yet. Am I wrong here?
On an unrelated note, seeing as this is a Dopod thread and there aren't many here, does anyone know how to disable xT9 on the c720? No, the alt-space trick works only for the Dash and apps like DashConfig do not disable it.
Has anyone found a way?

It's becuse you have a pre-production device that you have WM5. When Dopod officially anounced this device it was WM6 only.

CID status
Hi,
I just bought a single Dopod c720w in Hong Kong, without any contract. How can I find out if my device is CID locked?
If not, it shouldn't be a big thing to update to WM6 with a T-mobile or HTC rom (if available), or?
Greetings from HK
Chris
I just tried to download the T-mobile upgrade file, to test whether it works with my c720w (still the problem, how do I know if it's CID locked?).
Couldn't get that far, because you need a 10 digit tmo number! Though I have a german t-mobile number, it won't work. Are there any "standard numbers" or so, or any other way to get to the file?
wm6 for UK O2 XDA Graphite
http://www.modaco.com/WM6-showing-O2-Graphit-t258086.html
anyone able to download this rom? and host it?
my serial number is not recognised even though it's a uk phone, and really want this update.
Keen to see if it works on all o2 graphites and not just UK ones.
No one is seeding the torrent either

The file has been posted by someone on modaco.com:

downloading now )
Thanks for the link. Now we need someone to unlock all of those non UK Graphites. Is it possible to install directly from the bootloader or get round the non UK version checks ?

WM6 Upgrade German - Vodafone v1210 / VDA IV
Hey;
Another question about WM6 upgrade for Asus Jupiter aka XDA Graphite aka v1210 / VDA IV . I have read about the WM6 upgrades for this device. There are different questions you may answer (if you know;-)
Facts:
1.) I have a German Vodafone VDA v1210 / VDA IV with Windows Mobile 5.
2.) I like this smartphone very much - so i would like to upgrade and keep it
Questions:
1.) Which language Files are included in the original O2 UK update ? (English for sure - what about German?)
- I found an original upgrade on Vodafone New Zealand Site - but any hints about installed languages - except English of course :-(
- I also found the upgrade on my-xda.com , but I canot download because of OEM Vodafone Hardware.
2.) Would it be possible to flash the O2 Firmware on this device ? ( my first ASUS Hardware based Smartphone - HTC has CID Lock in most cases) ( 1 Year ago I flashed my XDA phone with an Original Qtek 8310 update - it worked fine, although missing Hardware like WIFI in XDA phone)
Thanks a lot your help ... I´d like to keep my Candybar 3G Smartphone
CU Steve

Hi,
I'm new to the xda-developers forum.
I've carefully read all informations available on the wiki and in various threads of the forum, and I have to say that I'm a little confused with upgrading / downgrading stuff.
First of all, I have a SPV M3100 bought in France, Simlocked to Orange France (HERM100, IPL 1.01, SPL 1.11).
I would like to test the official HTC WM6 ROM, but I'm not sure on how I should process.
First, as far as I have understood, it is a good idea to install HardSPL v7, which allows me to flash the HTC Rom on my Orange France CID-locked device. Am I right ?
Second step, I have downloaded the HTC_TyTN_FRA_3.54.256.2_103_6275_1.47.00.10_108.exe file from the following thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320829
From here I'm not sure on how to proceed.
Knowing that I would like to be able to rollback to the official WM5 rom shipped by Orange France (which I have already downloaded from the wiki), what should I do:
- either flash the WM6 rom directly. I'm afraid of "overwriting" the hardspl v7 stuff in the device ?
- or extracting the content of the WM6 rom and doing all the stuff described in http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_UpgradeGuide to remove the bootloader from the ROM ?
I have read some posts about custom RUU too... What does this means ? Am I concerned ?
Thank you for your help.
Florent
HI everybody
I am new in this field
i know nothing about HTC phones
i just bought new one swedish version
but i want change the language to english
anybody can help me and explain it to me easily
thanx alot
Yes you need to install HardSPL to install a non-Swedish ROM as the phones are region locked and HardSPL region unlocks it (not sim unlock) this allows you to install cooked ROMs or official ROMs from HTC for another region.
Here is a link to the HardSPL guide (read it carefully):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211
Here is a link to the latest WWE 2.03 Official Diamond ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478714
Although you may like to browse the cooked ROMs once you've installed HardSPL as you can use the,m too after that.
Welcome to the Diamond Community!
thanx alot for fast replay my phone is unlocked
so should i do all these steps ??
Yes because if it sim unlocked it does not effect the region ROM locking that HTC or the carrier put i place which is why you need hardSPL to unlock the bootloader so it will allow you to install unofficial and official ROMs from other regions or carriers! So the answer is yes.
So did it work?
