Start menu Freeze - P3600 ROM Development

When I first boot up my Trinity and click or select the start menu, it takes ages to open? Is there any way to fix this? I have also noticed that opening programs or settings dialogues takes a while also to open. I was using a an IPAQ recently and this responds like lightning in comparison.

I get the same problem as this, any ideas?

Hi,
I maybe wrong but so far I think I've nailed this down to task managers installed by either the rom developer or the user that normally aren't in the base rom.
Examples: spb mobile shell, spb plus, possibly even htc task manger.
reason: if you notice spb plus has a Red X option for closing applications when you tap the X, instead of minimizing them to the background. it also brings up a quick menu if you hold the stylus too long on a scroll bar and are scrolling a page slowly using the stylus. if you have this menu drop downwhenyou lift the stylus in that brief period that you do to put it back at the top to scroll further you may end up accidently taping the close application that shows on that menu. it can be triggered by other means on screen and maybe behind the problem.
I've had similar since I run both spb mobile shell and spb plus and have been too lazy to disable the task managers since the schaps rom I run now already has htc's task manager in it by default and is loaded on boot.
try disabling all task managers the show one the top task bar and that recognise screen gestures.
*thank god for full qwerty keyboard on this hermes as i've already done 2 posts today and were this an artimis i' be crazy or not post when I'm out and just relaxing in car in the morning due to artimis doesn't have a mechanical keyboard only onscreen hahaha*

'Settings' not closing

Hi, Recetly the 'Settings' window wont close, when i tap on the 'x', it just freezes, the rest of the phone works ok, but i cant get 'Settings' to close. i have to do a soft reset!
Anyone had this problem, or suggest a fix
Cheers
press the red phone button several times, it will come loose then.
yeh that 'minimises' it, but its still frozen in the background lol. the next time i go to open settings, its still frozen, until i do a soft reset...
I've had that problem. Absolutely no idea what causes it
I just press the red button and navigate to whatever else I want to do.........unless it is change settings in which case a soft reset is the only answer

True, happens here 2, but find it a minor problem, because you can do anything else and settings cannot be closed via the task manager (so does it influence the ram?)
SR is so easy and do it several times a day sometimes for clean ram (got it under a HW button )
But IF there is a solution, i am a little interested.
yeh, i usually SR for RAM anyway, its just annoying lol

HELP! QuickMenu doesn't show up and load is VERY SLOW

Since last night my t-mo TP2 has been really slowing loading up (this is AFTER "windows 6.1" green screen and "loading TF3D"....even if i touch the screen nothing moves. touch flow works fine after 5 min but Opera Mobile and other programs open very slow. screen rotation doesn't react and also parts of the screen image from previous pg remain when i go to a new program. By "quick menu", i mean the top right corner where u can get to the task manager (i do have this turned ON in my settings).
Can someone pls help me??
i really don't wanna do a hard reset so do i have any other options? THX.
okay, quick menu finally shows up after 15 min or so? it seems like everything is running smooth.
i hope this isn't normal cuz it happens to me every time i power off and turn it back on.
Eeep, I'll be watching this, I love QuickMenu! If ATT ever releases the TP2, that is..
damn no replies. i'm having the same problem with my sprint touch pro 2. loading where i can actually use and that will respond fairly quickly takes a good 5 min. fortunately, after everything seems to work fine but there are times i soft reset to clear everything and slow load, EVERYTIME.
can someone help? I have S2U2 and have tried EVERY combination of options, don't think it can be any of the other utilities I installed
QuickMenu works just exactly the way it's always worked for me on the Tilt.. I haven't ever seen it run slowly. I ran the older version at first, then installed the new version so I could increase the spacing to make it easier for finger poking, both worked just fine.
Not sure however if I used it with TF3D, I nuked that after a day. I suppose it's easy enough to switch, so I did, and still no trouble. I have it assigned to my Win key, if I want to launch the "honeycomb" I tap the Start Menu text. I use a bit of a combo of both. I don't really use any special settings, about all I set is to auto start, register win key, right arrow to close program, x button long press to close, don't mess with anything else.

text program problem

hi,
since i've put the brand new latest ROM from htc.com on my htc touch pro 2... text messaging is a real issue...
the problem is:
i get a text, so i press the "text" icon in the bottom menu.
it shows the last one i allready read... so i have to move up by stroking the screen with my finger.
i get to see the new message.
when i press "reply" in the menu, i automaticly open the keyboard (it's a habbit).
first i have to wait till the screen tilted and the phone is done thinking.
then i just type and press "send".
i close the keyboard and have to wait for several seconds before the screen changes from landscape mode to portrait mode.
after waiting for a while i press the "home" button, and again i'm waiting for several seconds before i get to see my home screen.
my phone acts as if i'm trying to run windows 7 on a 386 dx4 that's over 15 years old (if you know what i mean).
it's really annoying because it takes me very long to read, type and send a message.
what i would like to change:
open with the newly recieved text message.
quicker response when i press "reply".
quicker response when i close the keyboard.
quicker close of the "message program".
no stalling at all....
any ideas?
nobody has a cleu?

Hey for quicker response when closing the message program, instead of closing the program with the "X", try using the Arrow hardware button instead. It doesnt work all the time for me, but most of the time the phone doesnt freeze as it used to when i would press "X".
Go to your messages>all messages>menu>tools.sorty by and select "received"
see if that helps. As for the lag, I don't know how many processes you are running but you may want to give "HTC Clean Ram" a shot. I run it once every couple of days and on average it clears up around 20 mbs of memory. BsB tweaks is another option since there are couple of options there to enhance performance.

Navigator jacked home button....please help!!!

Hello, thanks in AdVance for any help.
I searched the net and only a few people have had this problem, but both mine and my wife's phone got the problem within 2 days
The problem started when you push the home button it would go to the navigator program instead home with sense ui. It loads that page with icons such as: footprint, navigation, voice search etc instead of going to the home screen.
I tried fixing the problem by deleting defaults in the sense ui and cleared the cache and data. Now it no longer loads home page or the navigator program.
I tried installing an alternate home page such as launcherpro but that is not able to take over use of the home button.
What happens now when I push the home button when in a program it seems to just reload the screen with the same program that's running. The only way that I can get to the home page is by continually pushing the back screen. Please help, because this is making the phone very difficult to use.
Thanks

Odd. I think you can fix it like this:
Go to Settings.
Go to Applications.
Open up Manage Applications.
Look for the navigation program in question and select it.
Now there should be a section labeled "Launch by default" or something similar. Hit the "Clear defaults" button.
I hope this works.
