sdhc support now available?? - P3300, MDA Compact III ROM Development

Hi guys,
I have found a driver that supports sdhc cards on an Eten phone.
Do you guy's think this could also work on the artemis??
I have installed the driver on my mda compact 3 and nothing went wrong.
I can still read my 1gb microsd card.
My probleem is that i don’t have a sdhc card to test this driver?
Can somebody test this for us?
http://eten-users.eu/index.php?showtopic=9410&st=45

This is interesting news indeed. Unfortunately i dont have any sdhc card on me atm..

I am really interested as well...
Can someone please test??

Partly working.
Working good with 4gd SDHC card. 8gb SDHC card will use as 3.5gb card

No It isnt "Absolutely off topic". As I have the problem since i updated my orbit on Touch 2.0!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it is. You should post this question in a thread that has to do with the subject, or if not avilable start a new thread under the titel of your problem. This thread concerns SDHC questions, which has nothing to do with your question!!!

So does it work on Artemis yet????

8GB SDHC on Jasjar???

hi I've had a look on the forum and I think the issue may be new - not discussed before. I seem to have some spare cash and wanted to buy a 8GB SDHC for my XDA Exec/Jasjar . However I haven't found any indication on the feasibility of this . anyone had any experiences positive or even negative ??
I'd be prepared to flash a different firmware to the device if that were to help matters.
thanks

Hmm it would be awesome to get SDHC cards working in Jasjar. Truly i havent tried SDHC cards in the jasjar but i speculate it wont work. Good luck
Someone posted 8GB cards are not working only 4GB so far
true! Transcend 8GB isn't working
i've tried it myself.
I can confirm that SDHC doesn't appear to work (out of the box) in the Universal. It just doesn't recognise there's a card present at all.
I am still investigating formatting the device in a different way (as discussed in other postings on this site) but i'm not terribly hopeful.
Try it on wm6
well , I bought an 8gb a-data v2 sdhc and it currently does not work . thing is , none of my memory card readers read it either . I'll have to get a reader that sees it to be able to say it's "broken" or not .
thanks for your input - if anyone else has anything to add it'd be nice
Well, maybe it is a late answer, but I did buy a 4GB SDHC card, actually I didn't know it is SDHC till I arrived home!).
Anyways, it didn't work on my JasJar nor on my laptop. I solved the issue for the laptop by downloading a fix that will enable WinXP to read SDHC cards (the whole matter is software based by the way, hardware is the same).
As for JasJar, it only recognize the card if you go to the 'About' icon in 'Settings' it will tell you that the expansion slot is in use - other than that the card does not exist!
Anyone got any updates?
cheers ...
hello fahapro ,
since then I have upgraded the firmware on the xda exec to one of the latest winmobile 6 incarnations as they have released various patches for sdhc use.
have a look at the stickies here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=357
usually the first page of each firmware mentions sdhc compatibility.
currently using my 8GB sdhc I was talking about previously
So the SDHC patches don't work on WM5?
I'm waiting for a definitive answer about the patches; and do they work with WM5. Some say they do; some they won't? And from what you described it's a software problem and not hardware issue which has already been discussed. So now I'm more confused than I was before LOL.
My 8gb transcend sdhc class 6 card is seen only as a 4gb with sdhc.cab in wm5.
In wm6 works fine.
Hi again,
Yesterday I found this article http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=339526&goto=newpost it is about a newly released WM6 ROM, didn't try it yet, but, from the comments posted I guess it works with SDHC ...
As for WM5 I do not know of any patches for SDHC, I gave up WM5 long time ago

So then it might be worth it to buy the 8GIG and either wait for a specific patch for WM5 or just go ahead and upgrade to WM6.
I suggest that you go for WM6.
Unless u use Video Calling, everything is better with WM6 ...

As long as the card you get is not a SDHC, you will be fine.
I picked up a TopRAM 4 gig SD card (claims to be 150x) and the XDA IIs sees the full capacity of the card and uses saud card just fine.

6GB microSDHC on 8525

will this work on any cooked version of WM6? can anyone confirm who has it?
^^Sandisks site says it only supports up to 2gigs but its been confirmed working for the 4gigger
i can upgrade my order of a 4gigger to a 6 for only $17 more......but i need to confirm that it will work
could there....would there be any limitations in the future for larger sizes such as the upcoming 8gigger?

hmm find your reply kinda vague if not erroneous. but someone do correct me if i am wrong.
aren't cooked roms (newer if not all) based on original wm6 roms?
and i would think 4gb sdhc (and above ?) WILL WORK on wm6 roms irregardless if cooked or not... think this was covered in some other thread.
an oh to the OP.. same question.. where are you getting the 6gb SDHC? should also warn you of counterfeit cards that are out. but if your seller is legit, id be interested.. although i just got my 4gb SDHC..
4GB, 6GB, 32GB it doesn't matter. If it's SDHC, it'll work. SD 3.0 cards will not work however.
ROM Versions
Correct, 4, 6, 32, all should work fine IF the WM6 ROM supports SDHC. Re comment above, no, not all WM6 support SDHC, for example the earlier LVSW ROM's didn't but the most recent do. Apologies, I am not sure which versions do but if you look in the details on the first post for each of the ROM's out there they usually state if SDHC is supported.

Questions:
1. What version of phone do you have ie; 100, 200, 300?
2. Which ROM are you running?
3. Source of the card - EBay, internet, retail?
4. Name of the company that sold it to you
5. Brand & model # of card?
6. Was it bulk packed or retail packed?
7. Country location of seller?
8. Price you paid not including shipping
It almost sounds like you were sold a 4 and told it was a 6 based on the 3.954GB figure.

I think that's the problem... The stock T-Mo ROM won't recognize higher capacity cards. You can try flashing (installing) the HTC 1.33 ROM or Kavana's/rickwyatt's 6.1 ROMs to enable usage of a larger card.
2 Gig is not a SDHC amount, the T-Mo Rom Should accept it.
Can you put the card in an adapter and access it from your PC?
(To Make sure the card is not corrupt?)
yeh i have a couple files on it that i put on it just so there was something on the card. so i know the 2gig card isnt bad.
Try this first before you put on a new ROM (although you really should put on a new ROM):

It is *supposed* to enable SDHC support (cards that are larger than 2GB). I never had the issue as I went with a non-Tmobile ROM (SDHC support is enabled in the non-Tmobile 6.0 and 6.1 ROMs by default) from the get-go. It might not have any effect on the threadstarter's problem, but it's something simple to try just in case.
Honestly, it's probably an off-brand card that the threadstarter is trying to use (that would be my guess), but you never know. It could just be a bug in the OS... Maybe the card is formatted wrong...maybe his Dash is having hardware issues...it could be any number of things (just like with desktop computers - this is a computer after all).
try formatting the card, sometimes the companies place files on the card to be read for certain devices. Formatting the card might work for you.
its a pny card...im going to try installing a new ROM and see what happens. i know the card works...it was flawlessly in my friends blackberry pearl.

PNY cards are horrible, more trouble then they are worth. Toshiba makes these cards primarly for Cameras, so putting them in other devices (smartphones) have unpredictable results. Stick with SanDisk, they cost more but are worth it.
