Hey guys,
First post on the forum, so I hope I don't offend/irritate with my dumbass questions,
I successfully flashed to the Black Shadow IV rom yesterday. I installed all th e helpful cab files to restore my settings to the orange standard and got the skdcert fix for the voicemail quirk. All seems (seemed) to be running smoothly but I then stumble upon a problem.
I have found that I am resetting the device more than I should due to the fact that whenever I try to make a call, 5 times out of 10 the phone just crashes, all the buttons freeze up and the touch screen doesn't respond. On the odd occassion the buttons freeze but the screen still responds butr there's no way to drop the call. It just wont have it.
I upgraded to the Black IV shadow rom, but did not upgrade the radio which was out of the box at version 1.38.00.01. Could this be the root of the problem? I am running SPL- 2.10 Olipro.
Any ideas guys, you're the experts, I'm just a squirrel trying to get a nut.
Thanks in advance.
Gav
The 1.38 radio is pretty stable. However, if you are in the US, you might want to try upgrading it to the 1.40 radio which is AT&T optimized.
That ROM was released and is supported here: http://www.4winmobile.com/forums/htc-hermes/
Same happend to me too, I used Black Shadow IV for a week and now removed it, It is not stable.
My Jasjam hangs all the time and when conncting to PC.
Regards
Yeah, same. I used it for 3 days or so and crashed frequently. No additional programs installed either. BAD ROM
i've had nothing but a good experience with Shadow IV. ::shrug:: seems stable enough to me. it's never locked up on me and i've never had to reset except when i chose to to clear out the old memory once in a while.
as i mentioned in another thread, i have not installed any spb apps since they seem to have problems w/ WM6. i've had problems on a couple of different ROMs w/ the Spb apps.
could it be something that you've got installed and not the ROM itself? i had to do a little process of elimiation by installing basically one or two apps a day and seeing how it ran. things started going badly when the Spb apps were on there (Mobiel Shell, Time, Weather, Diary) so I haven't reinstalled them.
anyway, it could be something other than the ROM that is causing the instability.
regards,
mark
having multiple problems as well. cannot send text messages on cingular even after trying multiple fixes, frequent slowdowns, have had to soft reset at least once daily and also having problems with random lockups when charging. Going to reflash another rom.

Am on Orange UK, and after running Black shadow for a while now I would rate it as the most stable ROM I have used. Admittedly I have only dabbled with some of the others, but have not felt the need to do more as am happy with what I have.
I did have an issue with SPB weather that others did not seem to have, but after romoving it, everything seems to be running fine. I soft reset every few days etc but I am happy with that.
Tis a bit strong to write BAD ROM with such certainty based on an individual experience, given that it works well for so many. Perhaps "This ROM did not work well for me" would be better.
Just a thought.

May be it is the radio rom, I have now installed radio 1.38 then Black Shadow IV and will try it for a few days and see how it works.
Also crash
Also crash and then back to Black 3.5 rom is Stable!
Still the same even with Radio 1.38, Crash when connected to PC and deep sleep in standby.
Use to have same problems while running CE-Star. Virtually permanently freezing on making/receiving calls, sending SMS and simple operations with the device.
After manualy setting chinese character set (thanks to XDA-Devs WIKI ) the ROM is extremely stable. Even trying to "destroy" the system with multiple operations (calls, internet browsing, sync, installing new soft, etc.) do not freezes it - very stable.
Suspect in your case you are using software which makes some changes to the system, consequently destabilizes the ROM

Use WIKI and SEARCH funstion
You can go first to http://wiki.xda-developers.com/ and click on Hermes. After that use SEARCH function with keyword "chinese". Should get the following page:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WM5_Tweak_Language_Chinese
I am using for few days Black Shadow with 1.43 Radio, able to read Chinese Characters thanks to the described in WIKI method and no problems. Personaly I installed A4 input method as it serves me at best. I didn't change the registry manualy, but used the cab, it works perfect. Simply follow the instructions.
The only issue is that when serving internet with IE Chinese sites do not apear properly. Suppose it is needed additional fixing of the fonts in IE. Do not have time at present to explore the issue, but suppose to deal with it next week. In case you find a solution for IE please share the method on this thread-- Thanks
PS. Have tested Micrsoft Input -- simply do not works. Causes a lot of problems and destroys totaly the standard inputs
All,
I have been running this ROM for just under a week and the thing has been 100% solid - not a single problem.
I also agree with a previous statement in this thread, that to refer to the ROM as "BAD" based on a single attempt is somewhat unfair! Maybe it is this sort of thing that has forced some of the more senior Hermes developers away from this site and on to another location. Ever thought about it that way?
It is just my opinion, but we (all forum users) should do one of two things if we "chose" to use someone elses development. They are,
Acknowledge (privately or publically) the time and effort that has gone into producing something. The best way to do that is by constructive feedback even if the experience hasn't been as you expected
Say nothing if you can't make it constructive!
To place a one liner in a response with a "throw away" comment is about as useful to either the developer or the other forum users as.........well,..................no I won't go any further because it's not constructive
For the record - this version of the Black release has rectified a localised issue I was having with my WLAN that other version had not resolved.
If you chose to use it - great, join in. If not, equally great. Good luck with your chosen selection of ROM.
Rant end

Hi Guys,
I recently upgraded to the HTC Official WM6 ROM (3.54.255.3_6275_1.48.00.10) and I'm having some small problems...
1) I cant change to a different theme anymore, Yesterday I changed it to the standard windows theme and since then it ignores my changes completely.
2) Streaming Media doesnt seem to work... I've tesetd it on YouTube with little to no success, occasionally I get a small black box so it looks like its about to start but always times out.
3) it wont connect to windows updates anymore (I know there isnt any there yet but it will be nice to know that the option will be available to me.
4) I can no longer remove anything from my memory card, it now tells me there is a sharing violation even though the program has been closed.
Sorry guys but I cant be the only one with these problems, if anyone can help that would be fantastic.
Thanks
Terryd1980
Hello,
For sharing violation when trying to delete, soft reset and then try delete again.
It worked for me so far. If file still shows up after deleting, use MemMaid to remove. Hope this will help.
Hi folks,
Just a quick question...
I've just switched from the HTC Official WM6 ROM to Shamanix's Grass V1.3
On the HTC Official ROM WLM worked fine; I've installed the WLM 10.6.33.0600 (Fixed) CAB to my device but when it comes to synchronising on the first sign-in it just says that it failed with a message saying there might not be internet connectivity. I've got the T-Mobile UK settings installed and working fine because IE is happy to browse pages (and of course WLM verifies my username and password when first entering)...
I uninstalled this version and also tried the WLM Build 1400 version too and the result is exactly the same.
Does anyone have any idea why it might not be working?
Thanks in advance!
Rob.
the same prob
Welcome in my same Sh..
I have your same problem and unfortunately i couldn't fix it yet,i've tried to change different Roms too,but in vaine.Everything on my device works properly, like Skype,PIE,Etc.But the worst thing is that it doesn't allow me to check my Hotmail on internet too!!!Unbelievable!!!!
I'm using schaps and here it works flawlessly.
You might want to try that otherwise there might be a problem with the account you have at your provider.
i had the same problem, every rom i tried with it cooked in worked fine (black/schaps full etc), but using light roms and any of the various wlm cabs gave me the same errors, my account on wlive was fine.
this issue stopped my use of light roms and ive had to use full roms since.
I'm using a light rom and WLM1600.. works pretty fine..
Hard reset should do the job..
So recently I've been having this weird issue where callers call and I'll answer but they can't hear me. It happens when I call out too. I'm not using any headsets or anything, but it seemed like it started happening when I started turning on bluetooth and leaving it on. But if I have my headset on, that part works fine, they can hear me. I had a custom rom that I cooked myself that seemed to work fine until then.
So I figure I'd ditch my own rom thinking maybe I screwed something up while cooking it, so now I'm using PDAVIET DV's most recent rom. I tested it all yesterday and it seemed fine, but then that night I got a few calls that couldn't hear me again.
This morning things were fine again, after I shut it off then back on. I made a lot of calls out and in from another cell phone, and it worked fine. Then while I was waiting for a phone interview, it didn't work again. Is anyone else having this issue? Or does anyone know why it's happening?
I'm starting to think may it's a sleep issue, because the only thing my phone did in the time between my this morning's testing and the phone interview, was it sat idle in standby mode.
Any Ideas?
Which radio are you using and who is your carrier?
What OS are you using? Does a soft reset fix it?

My own custom WM6.1 19209 rom, but also happens on DVH 19701 also. Soft reset doesnt seem to help, but power off, and back on does help until phone goes back to standby.

I just realized I have a sound issue also. I almost always use my bluetooth headset, but yesterday I tried just talking on the phone and the other person could not hear me. I reset the phone and it worked again, but only for a while. I noticed though that when it stops sending my voice to the other person, I can still hear myself in my earpiece. I even loaded Voice Recorder after it quit sending my voice over the phone and it recorded my voice just fine, so I know this is not a hardware issue. Has anyone else experienced this?
EDIT - I did a soft reset, and it didn't fix the problem. I disabled 3G, soft reset, and it worked again for now. Could this be radio related?
EDIT 2 - Disabling 3G wasn't the answer. I did that again and it didn't work this time. Might try a different ROM and see if the issue persists.

This sound issue appeared to me after I installed google maps or new dialpad. I can call to people but after I while talking sound is fading and in the end others can not hear me but I can hear them. Soft reset helps for a while but this issue appears again in next call after few minutes.

Here's what I have installed:
Arcsoft MMS 5.0.31.11
Total Commander
Hexic
Touchpal
Coreplayer
Memmaid
Garmin Mobile XT
SiriusWM5
moBlue
HTC Album
HTC ConnectionSetup
HTC Voice Recorder (installed to test that mic was still working)
Listpro
Kyphur Comm Button Toggle Fix
Live Search
Mortscript
Newsgator Go
Resco Radio
Schaps Advanced Config
SKTools
SPB Suite (Diary, Mobile Shell, Phone Suite, Wallet, Weather) All newest versions
Sprite Backup
Vito FunContact
Windows Live 10.6.0034.0800
I removed Google Maps and SRS WOW after reading others posting in the thread that caused them problems. I have not been able to test if it is fixed yet.

Ok just consolidating our issue into my original thread from last week.
I've resorted to not installing all my usual software, and only have this installed so far:
Schap's 2G Dialer
Schap's Advanced Configuration Tool
6 Button Comm Manager
HTC Home Plugin
ELF Calculator skin
Arcsoft MMS 5.0.31.11
HTC Connection Setup
no2chem nueLED
And so far (for two days) I haven't had any issues... here's the software I have yet to install that I usually install:
ATIFix
Cyberon VoiceCommander or MS Voice Command (thought it was one of these but it turned out not)
GoogleMaps
MS Office 2007
WindowsLive10.6.0034.0800
SRS_WOWHD_bt_fixed
TCMPv0.81
FlashVideoBundle
I was thinking maybe it was because of bluetooth being on or something too.
SRS WowHD do that issue. Download another version of that program and phone will be all right.
Mine has gone all day and it seems to be working. I think it's the SRS_WOWHD_bt_fixed cab like wikiri mentioned.
I have flashed official AT&T-ROM, then hardSPLv7, then PDAViet 19900-rom and after that radio rom 1.47.30.10. Mic works sometimes but most of the time it does not. I do not have any issues with roms no hard-reset or anything else wierd but this mic thing.
My PDA is just repaired and switchboard has been replaced and some other components. They said everything should be working and it is tested.
I have installed only ConnectionSettings.cab and latest live-messenger. Mic does not work on phone calls or when recording something.
So could this still be hardware issue?

My phone is doing the same thing.
How do you fix the SRS_WOWHD_bt_fixed cab?
Is it a patch or a setting you can manually change in the Phone.
I downloaded Windows Mobile 6.1 about 2 weeks ago and I have really thought it to be a step up from version 5. However, I am having a problem with the messaging. When I go to my inbox it says it is receiving an MMS and the clock on top is pushed over to the middle. After this it will start scooting the whole screen over to the left. Also, I am unable to run messaging after this because it seems to time out or something. I have uninstalled 6.1 and downloaded it again hoping this will fix the problem but it never does. I was wondering if anybody has had this problem or if anybody knows how to fix it before I return to the T-Mobile recommended WM.
Thanks,
Brad
did you use the built in connection setup program? If not, start there. I have played with a lot of the 6.1's on my Dashes, and the connection wizard has always worked for me
yeah, still no luck.. i'm thinking it has to be a problem with the WM 6.1 itself, although i've tried to find a different version each time i've had to install it again.
6.1
Have you tried Rickwatt's v24, I've been using it for a while , done a lot of modding and I've never had any mayor problems.
I installed v24 to my phone 2 days ago and it is still doing the same thing. I'm not sure what is going on, i was hoping somebody had had this problem before.
