a headset have both an ohm'ish resistence and a impedance
when no headset is connected the resistence and impedance will be infinite

Headphones for XDA Orbit

Does anyone know if I can get other headphones for my XDA Orbit? Because of the mini usb connector factor - I am thinking it may prove tricky or can we use the mini usb to 3.5mm jack I have heard mentionned ?
i have tried a Motorola V3 mini usb to 3.5mm adapter with my MDA Compact3, it didn't work!! sounds continued to play though phone, no sound though headphones.
This is what you need: http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=142090
It converts the strange HTC 11-pin mini usb to a 3.5mm socket
Not in stock yet though.
is ther an adapter that functions simaler to the sony phones adapters, it goes from the port on the phone to a smapp 3.5 jack and microphone, then any earphones can be plugged in, so that you get to use ur own eaphones but can still use it to make and recieve calls

Thanks TheBrit That jack looks like it would fix the issue of different headphones but I wonder would there be any issue with the FM radio. I was thinking could you do a magiver ,using the existing usb headphones but solder different headphones from the microphone part might also be the way forward if that makes sense!
yea, that's wat I was saying, have a headphone socket after the volume control and mic...
I imagin this would solve the problem of the radio aswell...
Well, Thanks for the ideas - went to Maplins and bought an inline socket - followed this tutorial and happy days !!

Definately worth doing !!! Cheers

usb pinouts

Hi - I'd like to splice a decent pair of headphones into a usb plug to use on an o2 xda orbit - will this work and does anyone know whats what. I know you can buy adapters but that's not what I want. It'd be handy to know what one was the fm aerial too.
Thanks
Me
Have a look at the wiki, and You will find this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284512
Hope that helps, but never ask me where You can get such connector from
I think, the better way is, to open the mic-housing, and to replace the generic headphones with a 3.5mm stereo jack
USB Pinout
Hi, be advised that the USB port is digital only, the digital to analog converter is integrated in the small mic/volume/phone button box on the cable. so, if you want another headset open the box or cut the wires.
Hi!
Try this accessory from HTC, I think it is a better solution.

mini-USB to car stereo aux-in

Hi All,
I have the T-Mobile MDA Compact III and I am trying to find an adapter/cable that will allow me to connect the mini-USB socket on the phone the 3.5mm jack-in socket on my car stereo. Any suggestions or recommendations? Is there such an adapter or am I looking a car-kit?
I've done some searches but only found adapter that changes the USB socket into a 3.5mm socket...it doesn;t give me the 3.5mm pin needed to plug into the stereo.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Martin

I use one of these addaptors http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=144684 this allows you to play music via the 3,5MM and still connect the charger cable at the same time - Mike

I am looking for an option like that but such a cable doesnt work with my (still to be purchased) carkit
Since I wrote that I have purchased a new car head unit which accepts either 3,5MM for Aux feed input or (much better) you can use A2DP for a Bluetooth connection and get decent quality sound without wires - Mike
dear mike,
I have a radio with that ability as well but up until now i cant get the handsfree set to work with my htc herald (while it worked perfectly with my previous phone), so i also cant play my music on my carradio. Perhaps I wil digg in to that again Thanx for reminding me

Mini USB to 3.5mm audio ???

I have just got delivery of my Asus P320 Windows smartphone. But unfortunatly i have discovered that there is no 3.5 mm or 2.5 mm headphone jack on it. I am wondering if there are any 5pin Mini USB to 3.5mm or 2.5mm headphone adapters, If not, is there anything i could use with windows mobile 6.1 to get music through bluetooth to a small module which I could connect a 3.5mm headphone jeack to. Thanks for your help.
yes their is a usb to headphone jack you can buy
.... never seen a small module but you can stream your bluetooth to a bluetooth headset
Yeah I already have an expensive set of New sennheiser headphones which i do not plan to replace. they are wired so If i was to go the bluetooth route it would be to get a small module which I can connect a 3.5mm audio plug into to convert it to bluetooth signals to my phone.
But you say You have seen 5pin Mini USB adapters, Any Idea where you saw them and where i can get it from,,,, specifically?

Or this looks promising

I am using this one
Works great! Just plug in any 3.5mm headset and you even have call handling and mic on it!
hi,is there anything like that ,that would work on iPAQ 614c?
miniUSB dont carry audio
it's like normal usb a serial digital data transfer std.
thats why htc have extUSB which is miniUSB with analog audio in the extre wires
pc headsets or speakers which use usb are really external audiocards which transfer the
digital data into analog sound
as far as I know no device can use en external audiocard unless it support usbHost which pretty few wmobiles seem to do
ok,thanks, then i'll have to keep on "enjoying" the music with headphones i got with device heh

http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=15367&cat=3078
Should fit the bill for you, Daydeals.com carries a lot of stuff but i was unable to find your phone sadly
Just arch on ebay for a "mini usb to 3.5 jack and it will come up with loads all min haved worked with my tytn and tytn 2 all apart the one i bought which said it fits a motorola razor!!!
Also i have not payed more than about £7 inc postage so far.
Happy hunting.
HI I have the same problem. I have an I-mate Ultimate 8150, I bought it used and when I opend the box I realised that the were no head set or charger.
I'm seeking the polish internet for a adapter 11 pin miniusb - jack 3.5 with no results. I bought an adapter for motorola v3 and it isn't working just like a head set for motorola K1 on miniusb.
I-mate 8150 is very similar to XDA Flame and I think that in those models the sound pins are different do the in the HTC models.
I am looking for some 11 pin miniusb schema (the socket is also used to charge and comunicate with computer).
I've seen an adapter on http://www.imatephonestore.com/accessoryDetail.asp?accMDL=AUDIO_CONVRTR
but i think that the price is too high for such a thing.
Maybe some one knew how to make this adapter or how to remake the motorola k1 headset to work on I-mate 8150
Plaese help me I don't now what else to do thanks
get 11 pin to 3.5 mm
even iam using htc
nd in htc we also have 11 pin jack
i saw one very good converter on :- http://www.amazon.com/Touch-3-5mm-S...tionId=1XM1P73VXKBX6ZQPKN02/mixi-20/ref=nosim
however instead of buying that wt i did i bought a erricsson bluetooth enabled headphones they are cool nd free from entangles nd best part is that even my bluetooth have 3.5 mm jack so i can connect with my car.
Well I bought 2 of 11 pin to 3.5 mm headset adaptor convertor for HTC. Though both are working same but little difference make them very unique. First one is Stereo Converter 11pins to 3.5mm adaptor which simply let me to use my Blackberry curve headset with G1. Other one is cool coz it comes with microphone as well answer switch. I am now using my 3.5 mm headset with G1 and also talking and answering from the same headset converter. Its really cool check this our http://www.fommy.com/accessories.as...obile+G1&cat=Headsets&subCat=Headset+Adapters
Cool I just order one for me the Streo headset adaptor with microphone and answer switch. Along with this I also got 3 in 1 USB adaptor. This one comes with 3 ports to connect 3.5 mm headset jack, 11pins to 11pins HTC adapter and USB connected that can be use to sync or charge G1
11pin is no good, Im looking for the 5pin usb which is on the Asus P320, are there any atall, I have already tried buying a motorola one which has the right connectors but does not transmit any sound.
I have the same phone and looking for the same converter
r there any converters specially available for this phone out yet?
I have AKG's and so youre telling me I cant use them even If I get the USB to audio jack adapter? Also In our store this guy connects his phone to the stereo system in the store with a mini audio (banana plug I think) to the system and plays his music of his phone..can the TYTNII do the same?
BTW, even if I could use the AKG headphones it probably would sound so loud as these are high ohms headphones AKG 240MKII..right? any cheap micro sized headphone amps around?
The mini USB port in asus p320 is actually a 10 pin port (5 on top and 5 on bottom). out of them 5 pins are used for audio and microphone. And others are for USB. Hope this information will be useful for searching 10 pin mini USB to 3.5 mm audio.
I've been using this for my xv6900. It works great.

Audio extension cable

I already posted on Diamond forum, but since there are no answers...please help
OK, got this YC A300 extension cable (http://www.clove.co.uk/viewProduct.aspx?product=B55C8C07-36B2-4A28-9A76-F11CB37A5A3A) with MIC IN LINE SUPPORT and wanted to connect earphones (discreet in ear earbuds) AND external microphone in purpose of making my headset as invisible as possible.
Now, I reckon I need to buy (make?) some adapter to put both of my devices into one 3.5mm jack found on YC A300.
Sooo, what do you think would this work with my setup (http://www.x50v.it/content/view/1159/69/)?
Again, my thoughts were if that Axim thing has 3.5mm jack with mic line in, my idea could work on Diamond too?
P.S. Since HTC support (like 3 countries where I sent my inquiry) don't know *hit about this (although they manufacture this audio extension cable) I wanted to check with someone who knows something before I find some audio service shop and ask them to solder me the adapter mention above.
