Flexmail 2007 rev2 ( latest ): 10 minutes update issue ??%$#?3 - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Accessories

I am trying to get Flexmail to download my emails every 10 minutes. I have made the setting to do so.
If I have Flexmail closed it seams that the periodical 10 minute updates dont run. I can get them to work when application is open ( ie icon in bottom status bar).
I want the Flexmail updates to work the same way as WM5 outlook email works, and thats running email download every 10 minutes in the background with the application closed.
Any ideas...
Exe installed on Device.
Email account storage on storage card.
Device info below....

I found out that for the 10 minute email updated to occur, Flexmail must be open in PPC ram. It does not run in the background like tmail.exe.
Dam....

[BUG] on Rom 2.03 Push mail

With all 2.03 Roms and even the original Htc Rom Pushmail is working but activesync will be closed after 30 sec - 1 min. Then when you open activesync a new conection to server is made. So when you start active sync 3 times you get 3 http watchdogs. Active syncs works but not as it schould be and does in the older roms. It even has more battery usage and it will take much longer that your emails will arrive. Thats because actice sync is closed by tasmanager i think automaticly and then when the http watchdog goes down active sync is startet again to make a new connection and so on.
Sorry for my poor english.
Hello Sebastian,
like you, I found the disapperance of AS in the taskmanager curious. However AS seems to work just fine if I leave the device in stand-by. My AS-log shows normal heartbeats starting at 480s, going up to 1680s which is the default maximum windows suggested by Microsoft.
If AS were to miss a heartbeat, the heartbeat interval would stay at 480s and not increase in 300s-steps.
I suggest that you put your device on the table for 1-2 hours and then examine the CtrlLog0/CtrlLog1-files in \windows\activesync . The most important value in the log is heartbeat interval.
Fwiw, I use the official 2.03 GER-rom from HTC.
Have fun!
Looking further, I have just reinstalled SKTools on my device and had a look at the running processes. Although the task manager will not show Activesync running, the process repllog.exe (window: ActiveSync) is running in the background, eating up some ram, and seemingly working.
Do you sync over gprs or w-lan?
GPRS - AUTD will not work over WLAN, this is by design. AUTD relies on the network to transmit data even if the device is dormant, and WLAN simply does not receive data in dormant mode.
It does not work as in older roms. Here is my log file. See yourself.
hi!
does anyone have any new informations about this activsync problem?
PUSH mail does not work with spanish 2.03
After migrating from a Trinity to a Diamond, I write to confirm that official spanish 2.03.412.2 ROM has the related bug with Activesync.
Yes, the AS process remains in background, but it does not work as expected.
It opens various stupid simultaneous https connections against the Exchange server, and it closes them after a little of time. Therefore, the heartbeat is never higher than 480 seconds, and the effect is just like a 8-minute PULL mail service, with a lot of battery drain.
I have been testing an account in a Exchange 2003 SP2, and after in a Zarafa & Z-Push linux server (just an Exchange Direct Push emulation), because linux offers me better control to monitor network connections.
A "netstat" offers us that the device drops its https connections after a few minutes. Then the heartbeat is lost.
After this incredible thing, I have just tried an official 1.93.412.1 ROM, and the same account works like a charm, with a perfect heartbeat increment from 480 to 780, 1080 and 1380 seconds.
1.93 is much slower than 2.03, but it really works with PUSH email.
Any success with 2.03?

eMail overflow freezes Mailbox and TP2

The last 3 nights while my phone was charging it decided to download over 3000 emails from my Yahoo account. Originally I had it set to 7 days worth of messages and then I reduced it to 3 and then 3 with no attachments. As a result after Sense (or manila 2.5 whatever it's called), boots the device and becomes frozen. The only way to repair it is to delete my Yahoo account from the email config (this has to be done quickly in the few seconds during reboot when Sense is loading). The delete takes about 1/2 hour and then everything is okay. Except I cannot use my email.
Anyone else experience this problem?
I am using WM6.5 and my Yahoo account has no more than 100 emails over the last week. Of couse I have thousands that I have never deleted going way back.

Click to collapse
Yes the text and e-mail clients built in to WM will easily bog down not only their operation but the whole phone, if they get stuffed too full of messages like that.
My suggestion would be to move all your older e-mails in your yahoo to some folder other than the inbox, and just keep the ones you're actively reading/using in the inbox to be downloaded to your phone when it syncs with yahoo's server.
thanks. that is a good work around. still strange that it would ignore the message limits that you set for it.

Mail app problems after update

After updating to HTC froyo my mail app now deletes all previous messages in inbox when refreshing!! Anyone else had this problem??
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I was just looking for the same answer as you...flipping annoying as now it seems to purge my emails on my desire after the update once i've downloaded them on my home PC in Outlook. Never did this before the update and i've checked in the phone email settings how long to keep the mails in the inbox (set to 7 days at the mo) but it makes no difference. At least on WinMo you have a folder called outlook mail that keep them for a defined period.
I hope this can be fixed as i'm starting to not like the Android OS at all after being a WinMo user from day one.
It's just the simple things that let this OS down i think.
I have this prblem too.....any known fix???
You can try this.
"I was having the same issue, but have resolved it by changing my account settings from POP3 to IMAP."
Didn't work for me but who knows.
Experiencing the same here, after froyo update messages from my pop3 account seems to purge when deleted from server.
Needs a fix
Crap. I have the exact same problem. As soon as you download to your pc from the server the emails are gone. No solution yet? There is a workaround you can go to your native client (outlook) go to advanced setting and check "leave emails on server". Until this is fixed this is all we can do.
Here is a brief tutorial for Outlook 2003:
Under the Delivery section of the Advanced tab, Outlook 2003 lets you define how to handle downloaded and old emails on the mail server.
By default, Outlook 2003 downloads your emails from the server, and in effect deletes them from the server after successful downloads. Without needing access to the mail server itself, you can customize Outlook's email deletion behavior. Outlook 2003 gives you thee options.
Checking the Leave a copy of messages on the server checkbox instructs Outlook 2003 to leave a copy of your emails on the server indefinitely. You or your System Administrator will then need to delete the emails from the mail server itself.
Complementary options can refine how long, and under what conditions Outlook 2003 should leave a copy of your emails on the mail server; I have mine set to 30 days.
I have another workaround.
I forward emails to myself and the emails get stored in my SENT folder. Irritating, I know, but at least I have a copy of it on my phone.
same problem here
same problem here, sucks!!
Hope the fix it soon
Sorted problem on mine it was problem with server. I am on ntlworld.com and have to put "recent:" in front of username and now all ok.(not quotes)

Went over to Modaco and installed a completely stock based rooted ROM. Still doing the exact same thing.

Exchange ActiveSync - Updating Read Messages on the Server

I'm syncing Outlook to a 2007 Exchange Server over my data connection. Activesync is set to deliver messages as they arrive. Messages arrive on the phone as they arrive into the Exchange account. So far, so good.
However, when I read the message on the phone, it takes a while for the "read" status to get updated to the server. Maybe an hour or so. It seems to vary. Similarly, if a message is moved on the server (with a server side rule or spam filtering, for example) it also takes a while to update on the phone. Neither is instantaneous like new message delivery is.
If I manually tell Activesync to sync the phone, everything gets updated immediately. It's almost as if message delivery is instantaneous, but other things like sending a read status to the server, or recognizing that a message has been moved on the server take some time.
Is there any way to get these secondary actions (sending a read status to the server, or recognizing that a message has been moved on the server) to happen much more quickly, more or less in real time?
Thanks!

[Q] Need Help after FB update/Flash Update etc.

Hello guys,
I'm using Desire HD
Dutch
Android 2.3.5
HTC Sense 3.0
SW number: 3.13.161.3
(all the latest updates)
Recently I updated my Adobe Flash/Reader/Air apps, google maps app, and facebook app.
Now I get many problems:
(by the way: I can only use WiFi, since I'm abroad and don't want to spend roaming costs)
- Facebook app doesn't show anything, keeps showing "loading" on the main screen.
- First time I did this, I got messages saying new contacts found for syncing. (but that is strange because all my contacts where already synced with facebook)
- Then there came the next problem, all my contacts lost there (facebook) profile picture!???
- Another issue occured when going to the Facebook website (with the built-in explorer) it loaded until the pictures (so text loaded fine, the bleu lines on top etc. fine, but no profile pictures, no ticker on the right, no pictures of actual photos just uploaded by friends in the newsstream (frontpage)... and it just "hangs"???
- Opening a new tab and just going to google.com also just "hangs".
- Closing all tabs, and kill all apps using a app killer, and killing the WiFi connection and reconnect, then google.com loaded fine again.
But still, FB website, the FB app and profile pics (linked to FB) in contacts, all don't work anymore.
What can be wrong?
I already tried: Facebook HTC Sense Not Updating Contacts Resolved by Joe Lovrek Published by Jul 27 2010 (google it) ,, but didn't work.
I also tried changing FB settings on my desktop computer on the FB normal webpage, changing the secure https setting back to htttp setting. No good.
Can anybody help?
Please ask for more info if needed!
Ok little update on this matter:
After a lot of playing around with deleting FB accounts/sync. , delete caches and update and return to previous versions etc....
And changing securitysettings in facebook (desktop version), deleting apps/website in the account settings... etc.etc.
I now got it all installed again, but still no FB profile pics in contacts app, and also when opening facebook app, only text appears, no photo's (like photo's that friends uploaded in your mainscreen, or your own pofile pic left upper corner.... that stuff)
But I tapped on my photoalbums and tapped on a photo, and just left it there.....
after 2/3minuten seeing the black screen with the greyish squares on it, all of a sudden the picture appeared!!
And now when I have the FBapp open for some time,,,all photos start to appear! (Randomly in random albums!!)
What the ????
Whats wrong with the app or my phone that loading the pics in the app (and thus profile pics aswell) can be done, but takes forever!???
Is there a background program running in android limiting photos?? Or is it the adobe flash / adobe air update that causes it??
Problem solved, but another arised:
Problem with having FB and Whatsapp and loading images on the FB website with stock internet app was:
- Firewall / port issues with my WiFi,,,I use connectify to turn my laptop into a router aswell, and in its settings, uPnP was on. I switch it all off and I could download the images again.
But now another problem happens:
- after the hard reset and installing everything again from scratch, my stock mail app does weird: when I first openend it, I as normal, created a account, a gmail account, and it works fine, but I want all mail and max size. So I want all my 2000+ emails in my phone aswell as is in my desktop version of gmail. I also have custom made maps, or labels or whatever gmail namens it, but the problem is: when it downloads the emails, it only downloads like 200 a time, and from every map, (sent items, inbox, deleted items) it downloads everything randomly and puts it all in Inbox,,,I don't have the option anymore saying -> menu->maps-> my custom maps are not there anymore?!? and all the mail that comes in is in my inbox!??
And I first get all mail from like 2 years ago, I haven't had any recent mail in yet, everytime I refresh it.
How to resolve this, anyone?
I think I have back now.
I probably entered when setting up the account when at first openening the stock mail app, I choose "gmail" account....but you have to choose: "other(POP/IMAP)"
And then first thing at the top it says POP, change it to IMAP.
Make sure in your google mail account on your desktop you have IMAP enabled.
(Go on your desktop, to the webinterface of gmail, to the upperright there is a gearbox symbol which is settings: then go to 'forwarding (POP/IMAP). Here you can select IMAP enabled or not.)
Than finish setting up the account. (port number can be found on googles own help site)
Now when you open your stock mail app settings menu, go to sent & recieve, I want all my mail so I select: max limit, download all days, and maps to synchronize: now you can choose your 'labels'maps again and stuff.
I immidiately saw it was downloading like 1500 mail again, as so many I have in my inbox.
And go to menu->maps: I see all my custom made maps (or labels as google names it) again.
Works great again!
Cheers
