Can anyone tell me where I can find a description of which ROM I should use when upgrading an unlocked 8525 from WM5 to WM6? Is there a website that shows the diffence/features between all of these? Thanks...
Windows Mobile VI - Black Edition 2.5
Dutty's Windows Mobile 6 Premium v2
LVSW Windows Mobile 6
WM6 Cooked ROM - 3DES.3
Custel Windows Mobile 6
WM6 CCS WWE Asia Edition (CHS/CHT/JPN)
Dopod WM6 Test ROM
Window Mobile 6 Vanilla
Should I use the Cingular version if i'm using the unlocked 8525 on T-mobile USA or the TM UK version?
Just look at the threads for the respective ROMs and decide for yourself. Those threads list the major features. We can't tell what's best for you. If you want the latest and greatest, go with the new LVSW ROM or Black 3.0 which should be out within a day or so. Since you have T-Mobile USA, use the generic versions (not Cingular, not TMo UK) and make sure to install the 8525 keyboard fix CAB.

Where would I get that (and thanks for the help!)

Also, do try and search before asking questions. It often helps.

Hello,
I really want to upgrate to WM6 as soon as possible. My phone operator offer me some services (emails, web, messenger) only if I use the prvided settings and applications.
If I upgrade to WM6 and things don't work, is going back to factory state as simple to flashing HTC WM5 + EXT ROM ?
Jean
I was wondering the same thing: I would like to upgrade to WM6, but not without having a backup of the WM5 rom supplied by the Wireless Network Operator.
I searched the forum on how to backup the rom, but was unable to find any usable information. Anybody would like to help us out?
you can't back it up in that way.
just download one of the wm5 roms posted here.
1. The original WM5 ROM for the s620 is available. It's out there online if you do a little searching. It used to be hosted here. I ran it on my Dash for months before going to WM6.
2. HTC is going to be releasing the WM6 update soon. This will be a MUCH better firmware than T-Mobile's. Also, if you wait for it, you won't have to worry about unlocking or anything.

p.s. Smartphones don't have an Extended ROM.
alright thanks guys, I'll just wait till the official HTC release, I also found the wm5 roms, so I should be all set.
I was able to find an unbranded rom (not sure if it the latest... which is the latest French version ?) but if smart phones doesn't contain ext rom, where are the customizations ?
My french phone operator is Ten Mobile. I think it will be tricky to find that particular rom.
wm5 rom...
Can someone email me a link or email me the original wm5 rom for the htc s620 and not the t-mobile dash version?
TIA

I'm currently using Meshle's O2 Premium Plus ROM. Does this WM6.1 free upgrade apply to us, or do we already have this upgrade in our ROMS. See the link below:
http://www.theunwired.net/?item=update-microsoft-releases-office-mobile-6-1-for-windows-mobile-6
i wouldn't think of why it wouldn't work unless one of the developers of the cooked roms installed the current office mobile some different way....
Office version
Hi I am using Marks rom.
I think this has 6.1 already.
Run Exel mobile and then about to see what version you have.
Oops. Yea, I looked at the version in Excel and it's Version: 6.1 2007 So my post wasn't needed. Sorry
hi, I tried this on my Touch-IT, works great (though my roms is based on the official wm6 for herald)

The download link on the Unwired's page yields this message: The download you requested is unavailable. If you continue to see this message when trying to access this download, go to the "Search for a Download" area on the Download Center home page.
Does anyone actually have the download and if so, can you post it here?

I'm new to this forum, which is a great one. I might be selling my 8525 to a serviceman stationed in Germany.
I currently have VP3G's latest WM6 ROM on it, but I'm not sure if that's the best one to use (or is it?). I think he is using T-Mobile, but I'm not entirely sure (will find out and update this thread).
Can anyone recommend me a WM6 ROM?
If it were me I would load the OEM ROM and be done with the matter. This way any questions he has can be directed towards At&t, google, or his carrier and not you.

I would do that, but I did advertise it as WM6, so I can't back out on that now.
Load the ROM in this link - he can change his own carrier settings..
OEM AT&T WM6

The question is if the serviceman in Germany speaks even German!
Is it an US soldier stationed there? Then he might be happy getting the device in English! If not, ask him what SERVICE PROVIDER he is using over in Germany and install the correct ROM. As far as I know: all of them have a WM6 version out there!
You also should inform him about the US keyboard and provide him with the keyboard fix cab for 8525.
Use Schaps 3.57a in Germany with Eplus as Provider and it works without problems, better to say unbelievable good!
Thanks again Schaps!
dont know if this was already posted if so sorry about that

Someone know the HTC_S620_WWE_BT_3.66.424.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship.exe rom? I found it in the link "http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mgldgtxc3gq". Where is the rom came from? Thanks!
It's in Mikey's folder, so it's def not new. Look at the added date 4/17 and the last 6 digits, those are the radio, it's older than the current.
Mikey, care to chime in and tell us what that is.
I guess that's the BT's branded ROM (british telecom company).
I'm almost sure it's wm 6.0, so, not newer than kavana/ricky's wm 6.1 ROMs...
Poke around their website to be sure, if you will, I remember there was a manual for their HTC S620 device somewhere (maybe the users support forum...): http://www.bt.com/
Good luck.
Cheers.
WM6 Rom with very little branding boot and shutdown logo only, with Internet Calling. Not very different from the Brightpoint Rom although I don't remember seeing the "Message Options" app before. If the Brightpoint Rom is the base for Kavana WM6.1 does it include the VOIP? If not maybe WM6.1 should be rebuilt with this as the base.

After prodding HTC I was told my Unlocked US Version Touch Diamond had a Brightpoint Rom. That was the reason they gave for not supporting a Rom upgrade for my unlocked phone. They never gave me an answer to how I could get in touch with Brightpoint to see if they in fact have a new ROM update.
Does anyone here know how to get in touch with them, or even better is there a ROM upgrade that XDA has cooked up for this version? How do I get it if it's available?
