I upgraded my phone to the Schaps WM6 Pro ROM and while I love it for the most part and like all the free memory it seems very slow and sluggish in many ways. When someone calls for example it takes a long time to come out of standby and update the screen. It usually only rings once because of this and I can't pick up calls until the other person is gone. It also seems very sluggish closing windows and stuff like that. The old WM5 basic ROM the phone came with was pretty snappy for the most part and I am wondering if there is anything I can do to make this sluggishness better because I love the look and layout of this ROM.

I have Shap's 3.54 and it's fast - don't have the problems you mentioned.
Some Tips:
Always try to install only the programs you need as every program slows down the PDA's a little bit!
Be careful with today-plugins as they slow down the Hermes, too.
Did you try Shap's light-version ?
Maybe you want to try the "Ultra Ultra Lite Re-furbished 3.60 rom" (just an idea...)
I also found Shap's 3.54 rather slow and I only installedXCPU Scalar and 2 or 3 simple games. I kept it constantly at 500 mhz but it still was very slow. (Compared to my Vario I with Black Diamond rom @ 195 mhz which was way faster) So now I'm on the TNT 2.0 rom which is really really fast. No need for XCPU Scaler anymore.

ATTENTION
Overclocking-Programs don't work on Hermes yet AFAIK.
?? What do you mean by that? I know battery status and XCPUScalar do the trick.
I agree. The latest v3.6a does appear a bit sluggish. I've tried Faria's Customized v1.0 and that blew me out of the water, despite all the extra bloat apps I installed on my Hermes.
It is sluggish..
I'm testing TNT v2.0, lets see how that goes.

I don't understand your problem. I tested the Schap's ROM 3.54b, it is fast and does not pose problems. It is much faster than my Qtek 9100 (I-matt K-JAM/MDA Vario/O2 XDA Mini S/SPV M3000/Cingular 8125/T-Mobile MDA/Dopod 838/compact VPA II) You must have another unknown problem…
...I ask you to excuse me for my bad English. I speak french...
Well I haven't installed anything else on my phone. It is clean. The 3 main things that bother me are the following.
1. When I type text messages it sometimes literally takes a second or two before it shows what I have typed.
2. When I wake up the screen after it has gone into standby it take about 4 or 5 seconds.
3. When someone calls it only rings once because it takes so long coming out of standby.
Keith
I've worked around the problem with the phone only ringing once - I configured my calls to not autoforward to voicemail for 25 seconds instead of the default of 15 seconds. This is done at the phone company end (via Phone.. Menu.. options... Services... Call Forwarding).
It means my callers have to wait a few extra seconds for me to answer.

Hi all,
I got this Rom installed into my D810 WWE this afternoon. It runs pretty good and seems like doesn't have any error....but then, i found sth about Ram usage that drains pretty fast, what i mean is Ram stays around 25.3-5 after coldboot, then oops it drops to 20 without any applications being launched....that's what i have observed....will come up have more details....

That might happen because you have given (or it is like this by default) a lot of KBs for the cache. You can configure this with advance config.

Default is file cache enabled and the size is on auto in this ROM.
I have it running for 2 days now, without a reset and the RAM is on 16.82 MB. In my today screen is date, SPB PhoneSuite and SPB Diary. HTC Manager 2.1 (B33803) is still configured. I haven't installed SPB Mobile Shell and SPB Weather, yet.
It's such a quick ROM, I don't exchange it now for another one. Believe me, I tested all latest OS related ROM's since 2 years now.
Feautures I use too: ActiveSync, TomTom, Cyberon Voice Dial, Jabra headset, .NET 3.5 (with configuration program) and Windows Live 10.6.0034.0800 with UMTS.
I don't use video call, MMS and HSDPA.
No solution for Video Call ??? I can't keep it , snif snif ....
So, here's what i did finally
I decided and flashed back in WWE6.0! Because of one simple reason is Ram! After flash back in WM6, Ram stays about 25-27....so what i think is WM6.1 consumes too much Ram.....the only thing impresses me is its thread sms function, without it....it's nothing at all compare with WM6...

I have the same results with the ROM in my signature. I have not reset my PDA for 3 days and RAM is 25.29 MB.
Hi, it is Possible to enable an option like VSync on the HD? if i scroll fast (like in the file explorer) i have "breaks" in the middle of the screen....
I know this problem from my PC at home if i play games on a LCD screen... Activate VSync and its done...
Any programm or option for the HD?
Vsync problem HTC HD
I have the same problem.
If you have found the solution, you can post it?
Thanks
I think this is pretty much fixed in windows mobile 6.5, so your best bet is to flash a 6.5 ROM.
Vsync itself would not be a good idea to implement as it would involve capping the fps, which isnt that high to begin with.
hello mate
i dont know if it depends on what rom your on, but im on topix 3.2 and enabled vsync and to me it actually seems like theres an improvement in the smoothness of the UI especially wen goin through photos in full screen
anyway, just use a registry editor and then use its search function and type in vsync
thats how i found mine, it was on 0 i changed it to 1.
dont expect a miracle but it helps
p.s i also got neodriverpack 3 installed and gfxboost, dno if that affects anything
peace
Has anyone noticed that by installing Iconsoft Phone Extension phone slows down.
Scrolling tabs in TouchFlo3d is very slow, and lots of other stuff.
Tried a lot of different roms but same behavior. Sometimes it works normal for some time (rarely), but 90% of time its slow.
Any solutions??

as my experience, iconsoft's interface is very nice but it's always make our phone slow down (even i installed it in original rom).
Yes you are right. I have tested both Icon Soft Phone Extention and IneSoft phone. they both reduce the speed of your device. I suggest you to try Resco Contact Manager. This one is the best and most stable one.
Hey i am using PCtech4u ROM and the latest iconsoft phex and it isnt slow i think u hafta click on "Disable WM dialer" in phonex options and try again or change the ROM too ........!
hi i got Android 2.2 Froyo but it runs very slow.
i wonder if there is a more faster /stable Rom of android / xandroid .
please tel a little about whats good and bad whit different android Roms
I second that. With all the ports and people working on android, we simpletons (aka n00bs) lost track of everything!
Thanks in advance to whoever has the time to reply!
the 1.6 donut versione in very very fast, go to the touch pro section in android developement
sorry for my bad english
If you have the option it would be nice to see that on a video at youtiube or so It would be interesting to know what the perfomance diference is. I am also keen on knowing what is faster WM6.5 or Android on an ( any ) HTC device so I can make a good choice for my next device.
I saw a movie on Youtube of the new Wildfire which runs Android and I was not impressed at all...

the best thing should be a list whit rating from 1-10 points on speed , battery draining , functionality
Did you tried those ROMs where you have to repartition your internal memory and those things? Cyanogen Mod 6 Froyo runs very well on my diamond. When it booted up wait 1-2 minutes while it connects to Wi-Fi and whatever. I can even play Raging Thunder and Winds of Steel on it without any laggs.
yes i got it from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735978
