Hi all new? here got an o2 orbit need advice?
Im just wondering what i could and should do to improve it, its currently runnin on wm5 i have the official file to update to wm6 but dont want to lock out my orange sim card ?
any advice ?
Hi can i install these special roms on this site without messing up the usual features on my phone . Pleases help?
Yes you can. Make sure you unlock the CID first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308242
Cheers m8 so which rom is recommended at the moment and i wont mess up my phone will i as im unlocked o2 at the moment. Also can i backup my rom im using now simply?? thx again
I have the same phone on o2, (I didn't know Orange done this phone ?) anyway, I would reccomend this ROM, its what im using.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=342298
It is based on Windows mobile 6, and has all extra toys to play with.
Read the post, see if you like it (its best one IMO)
Download it, do step one first (This is CID unlocking), then step two (flash the device).
I think you can backup your device now but it depends on what you want to backup.
If you mean backup your contacts, SMS messages, photos ect then sure you can. Copy them with activesync or search google, there are many programs out there.
If you mean backup your device entirely (As in ROM) im pretty sure you can but its not needed. You will find on this site both the offical ROM that your phone came with WM5 so you can go back to that, or the offical ROm for WM6 so you can go back to that.
All custome ROMS are SIM unlocked so you will be able to use your orange sim card.
Hope this helped.

Which ROM do you have installed? Do you have the WWE 1.33 Brightpoint WM6 ROM or Kavana's or Rickwyatt's WM 6.1 cooked ROM? Or are you running the stock rom that already came loaded with your phone?
Reason why i ask is that if you are not using one of the 3 aforementioned ROMS then the highest capacity your phone will handle is 2gb... and that's because the stock ROMS that are installed by your mobile provider don't enable SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) to work on theirs . If you do have a stock ROM installed, in order to make the 8gb work, you will need to install one of the 3 aforementioned ROMS, which all 3 can be found on this forum.
If you do have one of the 3 ROMS installed, then you may have a bad SD card.
just format it into 2 4gb partitions ?
8GB

you have to application unlock your phone b-4 you can install that brightpoint ROM. you also have to have your SD card removed from your phone b-4 you install it. do a searsh for SDA application unlock on this forum.... there are several threads that have it.
Also I think there are supposedly some cab files you can install that might enable the SDHC cards to work, but I haven't tried it myself since I am already running WM6.1. There is a thread in this forum where you can get those files.
Hey guy, check the STICKY that Gixxum posted. It goes through STEP BY STEP in detail what files you need, when to run them, etc. to reflash your rom.

You are correct it is.
hmmmm. i could have sworn the WWE brightpoint WM 6.0 ROM with the SDHC.cab that was floating around made it also support 8GB.... guess i was wrong then. my bad. either way , doesn't matter to me since i have 6.1

I had SDHC support working when I was using the WM6.0 HTC ROM, it saw my 4GB card just fine. There are only a couple of 6.0 ROMs that will do this.
So...
Okay, what is the verdict? Will Kavanna's 6.1 rom read an 8gb sdhc card or not? has anyone tried it with this rom? I have heard it will read 4 but would like to purchase 8 and am just making sure it works.
yes 6.1 will read I have one right now working great. Cant wait till I add my music and programs and more.
I just got a TMOBILE DASH 3-G. It has 6.1. I need get a card for storage. Will a Micro SDHC work on it out of the box or will I need to try to find a Micro SD?
You don't need to but new card

Neon400 SuperCID Guide

I've been looking for a HardSPL for my CDMA Touch Dual (Neon400/P5310) for a while and it doesn't look like it's coming. It seems that there is nobody skilled enough with access to the phone to unlock it.
I have access to the phone, and I have some tech skills, just not in this particular department.
Can anybody point me to a guide for unlocking the CID on phones so that I can start learning how to do this? Otherwise, can somebody guide me or give me some tips on how to begin?
I would be greatly appreciative.
Unfortunatly the NEON400 CDMA is the bastard child of a Nike and a Diamond on a hot drunken night.
Since this phone is really only available in Canada to Telus and Bell (I've also heard Asia but can't confirm), that really limits the number of developers who can work on it.
Hang in there buddy and keep searching (which so far I've done weekly without any results)
Did you try Goldcard? If it works, you'll be able to flash official ROMs for other CIDs (if any are available).

Could you explain Goldcard a little more? I haven't heard of it. Wait, is it a SIM card thing? the NEON400 is a CDMA phone.
Check the wiki; I've never used one myself, but it's some sort of patch you put on your sd card that allows you to flash a stock rom from another carrier off of your sd card. You need to use QMAT or something like that to make the gold card. Just do some searching, but it may not be all that straightforward (big surprise, huh?).

Yeah, I looked into it and I have downloaded QMAT. I feel that I'm in WAAAY over my head here.
Also, I don't want a stock ROM, I want a custom ROM.
Can anybody tell me what is required to make a HardSPL install? If I dump a ROM from my phone, can somebody do something with that?

You pretty much have to be a hacker extraordinaire to write a hard spl. Just get the gold card to work and live with a stock rom. A stock HTC would probably be fine; I don't think that they are loaded with bloatware the way carrier roms are.

I've never seen a stock HTC ROM. Just the ones that the carriers give out. Where does one find a stock HTC ROM?
I have just purchased a P5310 on EBAY
HTC appears to have a generic rom but requires a SN to access it (which i dont have yet)
if it is available please post it here.

HTC s621

ok im a bit lost but here is my situatoin and question...
Sit: I bought a Unicel HTC S621 phone works fine, but i want to upgrade the Mobile version from 5.1
Question: Is there a way to upgrade this with a T-Mobile 6.0 or higher version as i am a T-Mobile Customer?
Ponder: Is this phone the same as T-Mobile Dash? just curious because it appears to be.
Hi my friend. I have an htc s621 from mexico telcel, there is a lot of t-mobile roms in the roms section you should take a look there. They are the same phone as s621 is american and s620 is european.
Greetings
thanks alot just wanted to be sure they would work

Welcome to the forums
TY for the help i did read something, about unlocking CID... is there a way to tell if its unlocked?
i do know the SIM is unlocked as i have put my T mobile card into it and made calls and text with it in. So even tho its unicel phone i did get it does work with my t m sim.... i want to do this right, but am unsure if the CID is unlocked.
normally they come CID locked.
if you want to flash directly, turn off the phone, quit sd card and sim card and turn on the phone while pressing camera button, this will put your device into flash mode. Download a T-Mobile Rom and connect via usb, and run ROM update, if you get a error code then your device si protected or the model predefined is not the same as intended the update utility. You can "force" the ROM update using the tools that gmaniac2008 told you.
I like very much original rom, altough some cooked roms you can found in the rom section are very nice and have the latest windows mobile releases, lots of prebuilts apps and customizations.
in Official ROMS
you should install maybe this 1.22.531.6 (T-Mobile USA, WM6) because contains some configurations like mms, gprs, etc. from your carrier (to install this try the past method if dont works then you have to read more to force install)
A good choice if you want to try a custom rom, and they have autoinstaller (just need to quit sd and sim and turn on the phone, connect to usb, and run the utility. The utility is autoinstall.
is 080408 - Remade By Rickywatt windows mobile 6.1
greets
Thanks for the help and guidance to the right ROM but one big problem, there is no romupdateutility.exe file in the .rar file i downloaded so how the heck do i get the update utility?
oh btw if it matters im running windows 7 x64
Just download the files, they contain te rom update utility. Just have to run.
Better if you make the update on Windows XP x32.
Take a further read on FAQs thread. Official updates (rom updates utilities) looks like RUU_EXCALIBUR_bla bla bla.exe
RUU_HTC_S620_bla bla bla.exe or
RUU_HTC_s621 etc etc etc

[Q] questions before flashing new ROM

I'm thinking about flashing a cooked rom to my TP2 and before i take the plunge i want to check that i understand what has to be done
firstly i am not sure how to identify which type of Rhodium i have. its an orange UK handset.
once i have determined this i need to use the relevant hardSPL utility. am i correct in thinking that this simply enables you to install non official roms to the device? does it leave the existing rom intact or do i need to flash the new rom before the device can be used?
flashing the rom looks pretty straight forward, remove sim & sd card, sync with activesync / wmdc, run the custom rom.exe when complete power down device and replace sim & sd card, power on. anything i've got wrong here?
Finally i'd like to know a little about radio roms. is there a definative best one to use? what benefits are there in different radio roms?
Thanks in advance.

there are whole threads dedicated to most of these questions.
please, take the time to use the forums search function.
it helps the fine staff at xda from answering the same questions over and over and over and over and over and over and over....
gets repetitious, and annoying.
so now that youve learned something new, make use of it and hopefully youll have a newly flashed rom within the next 10 mins

Go to the ROM Development forum and check the "Flashing ROM ... for NOOBs" thread. I think your answers will be there. The radio is flashed separately and will not affect the underlying ROM.

That's GSM I believe. Remove the battery, and it will show the model number under it: RHOD100, RHOD200, etc. Search on these forums to see which is which (I don't know off hand).

You are correct, all it does is unlock the SPL, and allows the flashing of ROMs other than the official one(s) released by your carrier. Your ROM remains intact.

Yep, that's pretty much it. Be sure to read the n00b guide, make sure your phone is charged over 50% for each step, don't let your PC go to sleep, etc.
Also running Task29 is optional, but highly recommended before you flash you new ROM. It wipes/formats the memory, so you won't have any remnants of the old ROM remaining (which might cause random bugs). See the Task29 stickied thread in the ROM forum.

No, there is no definitive best radio. The newest ones are sometimes the best. But it can be geographically dependent as well. It might take some trial and error to find the best radio for you (which gives the best reception and battery life for your area).
If your TP2 is GSM, than its easy to flash a new radio, it only take a minute or so, and it leaves the rest of the ROM intact, so you can easily try various radios to find the best one for you.
