Different Hardware MDA / O2 - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Are the MDA 3 and the O2 xda orbit different machines or is there an other software/bios in use?
I need this information urgently because i have to decide which pda i should buy .
If it´s only an software/bios problem - is it possible to upgrade the MDA?

All what I know ... that MDAC III don`t have Wi-Fi on it ... And rest of hardware is the same ... not sure about the software versions ... I think that is slightly different, but not much
Cheers ...

software is universal i have MDAc3 with HTC original software and it is better
software is without "T-Mobile ****s" and it is quickly
with original software i have better pictures from camera

HTC Reg.

I wanted to join the HTC club and look at new software or original Roms for my XDA Orbit.
But the SZ number is not accepted by the system. Does anyone know why, or how I can reg. my phone with HTC?
Is there a big difference in the P3300 and the orbit?
I can Use the Original Roms right?
Thanks

Pretty much just the case I think.
Only non branded devices can be regged at HTC.
I don't think it matters. you will not find anything over there. the only thing on line is the driver for remote control.
branded devices like orbit or MDA will get their updates through their providers.

How to unlock SS i780
After i tried "GPS Patch" as suggested from Modaco, i got Com port 4 on the device and tried many times to connect gps ( build-in )..the result is " cant find gps in my device"..so finally decide going back to BT-gps and work well as usual. I've heard that Bulid-in GPS only works with the Navigon application. I think what i hv to do is "wait and see" till the official launch of this device.. By the way, my map app is MobileXT, Garmin...and hvnt tried Google map yet..
Hope no problem with your future samsung [email protected]

If so whats its perfprmance like at achieving lock and maintaing lock?
As ive heard it uses the qualcomm 6260 chip which is not meant to be very good.
Thanks
Hi all.
I have a I780 from Orange and can say the GPS is not locked.
It seems that the OS is the problem with GPA apps not working.
I have install an app called GPSGate.
Tested with Tomtom worked fine.
The i780 GPS is NOT locked, it works fine. Out of the box, it works with Google Maps and with the new Garmin XT software. If you need something like Tom Tom 6 to work with the i780, you need to use GpsGate for creating a virtual COM port.
The i780 GPS reception is actually pretty impressive considering the size of this little jewel.
Unfortunately Samsung messed up a couple of things, they delivered the first batch of units over here in Germany without any manual(physical or online) and without GPS software. According to some dealers and a source at Samsung, the GPS software(Garmin XT?) will be available free of cost for customers and it will be delivered on a microSD card. The bad news is: after a certain trial period(15 days?), the Garmin software costs 99 EUR or so to unlock. Crap...
I like my i780, build quality, size and weight are impressive.
It is however slightly bigger than the Blackjack I AND II and it definetely uses a completely different hardware, so DO NOT use Blackjack II solutions for your i780, they won't work and they're going to mess up your i780.
Again: the Blackjack II and the i780 have NOTHING in common, they look alike but the i780 is slightly bigger and has a completely different hardware, not to mention that the i780 runs on Windows Mobile 6 Professional and has a touchscreen.
Btw: the display quality of the i780 isn't as great as the review of a pre-production unit mentioned on www.mobile-review.com. Apparently Samsung had to cut on cost somewhere. The GPS works great though, I always get a satellite fix within a couple of seconds(first fix may take a couple of minutes) and usually, I receive a usable signal of 6-9 satellites, sometimes even more.
So do you need GPSgate running in the background aswell as TOMTOM?
Thanks
Hi Ya
Yes you do.
GPSgate acts as a virtual COM port.
It works a treat. I have had tomtom running all day without a problem.

Thanks vor the very good news about GPS!!
Can you give to me a general idea of this wonderful device? A part from the display (does it have less luminosity than expected) how do you judge the performance, build quality..... Do you confirm the very good impression made by Mobile-Review?
What about sw? Does it come like the one tested Mobile-Review? Today plugin, task manager, rss, podcast, Opera........?
Thanks.

Unlocking xda orbit !

Ive been given my brothers old stock of xdaIIi`s so I have 4 of them with another on the way, Ive tried the unlock file posted elsewhere on this site and it worked a treat.
My brother has purchased 5 new o2 Orbits for his engineers and Im wondering if the unlock file will work on the Orbit.
Is the Orbit otherwyse known as the Artimis ? sure looks like it. took a look at the orbit2 and wasnt impressed much prefer the orbit on the looks stake, is there much difference internally ?
artemis == Orbit
polaris == orbitII
unlock info and difference under the hood is located here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Artemis

they are not really much related polaris is word apart in the pda way of things
as cpu, ram, gps.....

I-mate pda2k and O2 XDAIII parts

I would like to know whether the parts of my i-mate pda2k are the same with O2 XDAIII parts.. I want to replace the casing of my imate pda2k as well as the keyboard.. I am just planning to buy defective O2 XDA III to replace some parts on my imatepda2k.
Do all the screws, fittings, external and internal parts of imate pda2k same with O2 XDA III?
and the O2 XDAIII the same with O2 XDAIIs? they do look the same..

You should look in the wiki, you will see all the possible name variations for the BA. If I am not mistaken, the only thing that may change between models is having a camera (or not like the SX66). The only BA-type device that will have a difference is the Harrier (CDMA version of the BA) which has a few more important differences.
i believe there are actually more differences in the hardware specs, like two different displays or something and i do remember there was a table on the wiki and i know, whenever i look for it, i spend ages searching, i wanted to provide the link here, but actually, i cannot find it right now... again.

True, but if he is only looking at the casing, he should not be concerned with anything "under the hood". As long as the case is the same, he will satisfy his needs.
actually i am planning for to get the casing of a defective O2 xdaIIs, which similarly looks the same with the imate pda2k.. will i succeed with this one?
