HTC P3300 Memory - P3300, MDA Compact III General

After installing all programs and files etc. I am left with about 16mb of Storage memory. I have noticed after two Hard Resets that this memory begins to diminsh daily by about 30-40kb, ending up with below 1mb, whereby I need to Hard Reset. ANY IDEAS why this is happening.

Are you using the device on the internet? if so try going to Internet Explorer/ Menu/ Tools/ Options select the Memory Tab and clear History AND Delete Files, this frees up quite an amount of memory after a heavy couple of days internet usage - Mike

Memory leak -ATT Official WM6 rel

Hmm
So after a soft reset, without Goodlink running, I have at least 27mb available..and with Goodlink, I still have 12-15mb Program Mem free...
Over the course of the day, Mem would drop to between 4-8mb. There is nothing else I can close with HTC X-button.
Exiting out of Goodlink does give me back more mem (12mb or so), but GL is a 'must have' app. Soft reset brings up the same cycle....
anyone else notice any memory issues or decreased Mem throughout the day? Could possibly be on of the apps installed?
I did not have this 'leak' with the un-official Asian/dopod WM6 release, though I like the new att wm6 release and would like to stick with it if I could. Also, with that ROM, I only had Goodlink and a_c slide2Unlock
I am currently running the official ATT WM6 release
3.62.502.3 and these are the installed apps:
(radio ver I downgraded to 1.47 but the radio shouldn't matter)
Goodlink (compressed the 4mb exe into 2mb with UPX4PPC)
PocketCM Keyboard with iPhone (2many skin)
A_C slide to unlock (ver 1.17 because I like this older version)
HTC X-button ver 1.51
MS Live Search
SJ keyboard skin - Touch
battlevel.exe
There have been versions of slide to unlock that had memory leak problems (.99c does not). Try disabling it for a day and see if thats the problem. You can also use oxios to free up allocated RAM throughout the day.
This has been a regularly recurring issue for me since I can remember. I've been using Schap's 4.01 for months now and find that I need to reset every couple of days. Sorry that I don't have a solution for you, but perhaps someone else here can give a recommendation on how to go about freeing up memory that has become consumed by the OS and programs running in it.
The only thing that I can think of might be to try going to 'Settings -> System -> Memory -> Running programs' and close down anything else that may be running in the background. Also, try checking the running processes in FDCSoft Task Manager 2.7 and see if there are any programs that can be closed out there as well. Let me know if you figure anything out, thanks!
Cheers and good luck!
SKTools FreeUP RAM
I use SK Tools FreeUP RAM function to free program memory throughout the day. Even at that, every couple of days I need to soft reset. Typically, I will drop down to about 18MB of Program Memory, then FreeUP RAM and get back to 21MB, then soft reset and get back to 23-24MB.
It seems rather absurd, I know, but one gets used to it.
SKTools costs money and takes up memory (luckily installed on my Storage Card) and you would think this functionality would be in WM6.
Hmm.. So if everyone has this problem of sorts, and with all the various ROMs... the only common ground here is WM6 OS?
I'll try these freeMEM programs and give it a whirl
PS.. (The 'memory leak' was still happening even before I had installed A_C Slide2Unlock, though I will take it off again just to be sure)
WM6 memory leak on Sprint Mogul
I recently purchased a Sprint Mogul and upgraded to the latest ROM that HTC put out on their site on 3/10/08. I have installed many programs but only 3 launch at startup which are iLock2 [screen lock], TouchPal [a thumbable keyboard] and Microsoft's own Voice Command v 1.6. Voice Command is the largest user of memory, approx. 2.3 MB. TouchPal uses about 990 kb and iLock uses less than 35 kb. After about 1 hour I'm down to 11 MB of free memory and I didn't do anything or run a single thing on my device. If I try to launch PIE or Media Player, forget it, there's so little RAM left that it freezes in about 15 minutes of usage. So, if I want to use either of these, I have to do so immediately after a soft reset.
Based on my observations above and testing below, WM6 OS has a memory leak!
To make sure I give WM6 a fair chance, I had to measure the memory immediately after a Hard Rest. So that's exactly what I did 3 times and here are my findings:
Test #1...................FREE RAM IMMEDIATE...........FREE RAM IN 1 HOUR
Hard Reset #1...................24.15 MB...........................19.98 MB
Hard Reset #2...................24.15 MB...........................20.02 MB
Hard Reset #3...................24.14 MB...........................19.96 MB
Bottom line, I'm losing memory for no reason. I have not loaded any of my own programs AND I did not allow the Sprint bloatware to be installed either by doing a soft reset before the 3 second countdown.
Now the memory loss from Test #1 might not seem huge, but after loading my programs and PIM data the difference was even more dramatic, see Test #2. [FYI, I took the "IMMEDIATE" measurements in Test #1 and #2 as soon as the computer would allow me to access the memory console. Not perfect science, but close.]
Test #2......................FREE RAM IMMEDIATE........FREE RAM IN 20 MINS
Soft Reset #1.....................21.37 MB............................13.69 MB
Soft Reset #2.....................21.45 MB............................13.35 MB
Soft Reset #3.....................21.46 MB............................13.44 MB
Finally, to eliminate some rogue process eating all of my memory, I measured the process growth. I was able to do so after each soft reset by using Task Manager v.2.9, which I installed. A few of them grew in size, not sure why, but they did, so below is a sample of their growth. [I actually did this several times and the numbers below are representative of what I found in each of the trials.]
Test #3...................IMMEDIATE.................20 MINS
device.exe..................2682 kb...................2696 kb
cprog.exe...................1749 kb...................2024 kb
gwes.exe....................1559 kb...................1666 kb
filesys.exe..................1538 kb...................1751 kb
While the processes grew, it wasn't significant enough to offset the loss in memory illustrated in Test #2. I also watched the processes associated with my 3 programs that launched at startup and the other OS processes, 15 in all. Some of those grew ever so slightly as well. But in aggregate, the growth for all 15 processes from the time immediately following the reset to 20 minutes later only accounted for 855 kb while I saw my memory drop on average 8 MB.
What could be happening?
I believe the OS is loading something into memory [RAM checker, scanner, cleaner, etc.] that I can't see in the processes or application window and after it's done, it is not releasing the memory, ergo a memory leak.
Thoughts?
AT&T 8525/WM6 Memory
The memory on my AT&T 8525 was not great to start out with. After upgrading with HTC's WM6, it's so bad that Internet Explorer is barely usable. It slows down and freezes after viewing a few sites. I have to close the program and restart.
Ditch the rom you are using now and try this one out. I start with 31 mb's free after a reset. Problem solved.

Internet App using up all storage space

Hello all,
First off apologies if already discussed although I did search.
My problem is that the internet app on my desire keeps bloating up to more than 20mb in size taking up all my free memory. Whenever I get the dreaded "memory low" notification and I go to my "manage applications" tab it shows that the internet app is hording 20mb of data! Note this is not the the cashe section but the data section. (i have screenshots but nowhere to host them).
I seem to have narrowed it down to when I have closed the browser with a flash heavy site still displayed (skysports.com does nicely) so I can only assume it has something to do with that?
So, has any1 else noticed this? any fix of my to limit how much data an app keeps on phone mem or a way to move it to sd card?
I am using the "official" froyo sense ROM v10c by opendesire - (again apologies if ROM related)
Thanks in advance
Has anybody else managed to replicate this? Its quite annoying!
I've seen this too. Twice. I notice because I get a message about a TXT being discarded because of insufficient storage. I am thinking that it has something to do with watching a flash based movie - do they buffer to internal memory?
yeah i have the same problem,
--using devillian 1.0
How do you guys clear the space. One time I just clicked clear data - but this obviously got rid of my bookmarks too so don't fancy doing that every time.
So, I guess you both use a froyo ROM too? I suppose its to do with flash 10.1? I never noticed it before I updated.
Do you think there is any kind of limit on how much data the internet would store on the phone memory - I assume mine stops at 20mb cos that all the space I have, would it eventually fill the phone memory no matter how much space me have left?
It happened to me twice. It took up 70+ MB of internal storage and I had to clear data losing all other settings and bookmark.
I wonder why is this happening although my cache is only set to 6MB max.
Sent from my HTC Desire
i force kill the app and then reopen it. works most of the time.
yeah im pretty sure its flash thats doing it, happens mostly when i go the sites populated with flash elements
clear all cache of all apps that use it and reboot the fone twice and it should clear ALL internal cache. i had this with 2.1 stock
Any news on this topic...? Running the stock HTC Gingerbread on my Desire and every MB counts in the fight against low space...
(Is there a way to save your bookmarks if the only solution is to clear data...?)

[Q] Losing internal phone storage space on EVO

Has anyone on EVO come across this problem. I keep getting low disk space on my EVO. I uninstall apps to get more internal space, but then it drops again. On Friday I had approx 48mb of internal storage, then by 4:00pm I had 323 kb. I uninstalled a bunch of apps and now I am back at around 48mb.
I went into sd and storage to monitor my space. I also went into menu settings/ applications to see what was taking up the space. By chance I noticed that my Mail icon in the morning was at about 75mb and when I checked it that afternoon it was at 111mb. I called sprint tech support and we deleted/ then added my email accounts again to see if that would clear up space. We also set the max amount of space for msgs to 25 kb. text only. This seems to be working, but still under my mail settings under applications, the MAIL still shows using up about 95mb of storage.
Sprint tech support states that that is really high, but for some reason it is not something that can be erased. Of course I can always do a wipe, but that is always as a last resort. Just trying to gain back some of that precious internal storage.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
In the few years I spent supporting mobile phones for companies low internal storage space was almost always caused by pictures, mp3s, and movies.
So how much of that do you have on your phone?

The EVO saves that kind of media to the SD card.
OP, what ROM are you running?
I know that apps like streamfurious will cache its content and store it to the phones memory. It can Max you out in a matter of hours. Do you use streaming apps?

A misbehaving app is probably the culprit. I'd really recommend Cachemate in the market. There's a chance that one run of that may solve your problem.
Also, if OP is running CyanogenMod w/ Turbo that'll occupy a good amount of internal memory as well.
I use Xiia Live llite. Usually in the evening. . I'll check that out and see if it shows how much is cached.
Thanks
I'll check it out. thanks. Ok it cleared about 3mb.
My mail icon still shows 99 mb of data. If you go menu, settings, applications, manage applications, It brings up everything that you have installed. You can list them by size. The Mail icon HTC, is the one taking up all the space. is there any way to eliminate it? I am running rooted 2.1. I will probably OTA to 2.2 tonight and unrevoke 3.21. Don't know if this will help.
Thanks
I'm running into low storage also.... I have alot of apps but have moved most to sd card that I can... Anymore tips to get storage back?

Very annoying problem: out of memory at line xx

since i got my TP2 on 5/17 ive been seeing this message while browsing the web in either internet explorer or opera 9.7 (except worded differently). i have gotten this error on all roms i have flashed whether 6.1 or 6.5. its very annoying because once this message shows up in either browser websites stop functioning properly and i dont know why it even says it because my ram usage is in the 60s or low 70s when it does show up. i am now officially fed up with this error and want to know of a way to get rid of it, i can hardly get anything done on the web because of it and it will happen despite whatever else i have in the background (nothing). any ideas?
Could you be out of storage memory not ram memory?
Maybe after you browse for awhile your cache, cookies, and history eat up too much of your storage memory and give you the error. Try lowering your cache settings in Opera or freeing up some storage memory.
i have about 50mb of storage free so i doubt it would all run out after being on FB or any other site for a couple mins, but ill try the cache thing tho i dont think thats it
an old thread but my latest problem...
Any clues please guys?
Soft reset (the pin next to the SD slot under batt cover) didn't fix it?
Never heard of this, but I honestly never really ran WinMo much on my RHOD .
There is a memory limit for one process (32MB, unsure). So if you force Opera to load an oversized website such a error could occur.
Although I never had such a problem so this is only my theoretically guess.

"Not enough space" on Galaxy Ace II

Hi guys. I tried to browse for answers regarding this issue, but I couldn't find anything that worked for me,
I've gotten to a point where any time I either download a single picture from Whatsapp or take a photograph with my phone, I get the "There's not enough space in your device memory". I discovered that neither deleting apps nor manually moving them to my external SD card had any effect on this. I have tried many kinds of apps that move your apps to the SD card, but it hasn't worked. I installed an SDK on my computer in order that the phone would install apps onto the external SD card by default. This didn't make the issue go away.
This is very frustrating. I have double checked every single folder inside "sdcard0" and there are no big files taking up space. I'm running on a stock, non-rooted 4.1.2.
I recently deleted around 300 - 400 pictures from my external SD card and the following time I connected the phone to my computer, I noticed the phone's memory had like 400 mb of free space that it didn't before (and yes, I was ABSOLUTELY sure those pictures where stored in my external SD). But just a couple of days after that, the space issue got even worse than before, saying that I had no memory left at all (it would usually display the message when I had like 69 mb left, if I remember correctly). Using Cleanmaster helps like 4 out of 10 times, but thanks to it, I've noticed that the phone is creating 3 Photo thumbnails files: two which are 520 mb in size (stored in DCIM) and another one called Gallery Thumbnails which is 1.02 GB. I suppose at least one thumbnails file is created automatically after deleting it, but I don't understand why I have 3.
I found a thread made by someone with the same issue, and someone suggested to uninstall all Google Play updates, or something like that. I did that, and it didn't work.
I hope you can help me find a solution, and I hope I'm not posting this in the wrong place. Thanks in advance.
Could you show us a screenshot of your storage in settings?
Sent from my GT-I8160 using Tapatalk
There you have all my storage information. The phone's not presenting the issue right now, and as you can see in USB storage, I have 500 mb of free space, but it's always like that: I have a lot of free space, and one or two days later I try to open a picture I just took or downloaded, and it says I have 0 mb left. I connect the phone to my PC and it shows the "phone" storage completely full.
What I don't understand is why it shows that I have 528 mb of pictures and videos in USB storage, when I'm 100% sure all that is stored in my external SD. Could it be that those 528 mb are actually a thumbnails file?
I am having the exact same problem! Running 4.1.2 firmware, this just recently started happening... I've reformatted the internal USB memory twice but the problem keeps reoccurring.
I try to get into the image gallery sometimes and it will say something like "You only have 50mb of space left, delete some files" and then it either forces me to quit or go into the file manager. But there are no pictures or video on my phone at all!
I've noticed that the DCIM folder on the internal memory was MASSIVE (600mb+ despite having no files whatsoever), so I connected it to my computer and manually deleted it and rebooted the phone, only to find that DCIM had replaced itself with a slightly smaller size (450mbs) and is continuously growing. Reformatting the USB every week or so is becoming a big hassle.
What's going on? Could the internal memory be fried? Is this a bug that can be fixed somehow? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
