I replaced the standard HTC screen item launcher with ilauncher but I cannot find the shortcut to turn on mouse mode by tapping it. the only one i can find opens the mouse settings. Does anyone know where I can find the mouse mode toggle shortcut?
Thanks.
Hi,
You need edit the registry to do this.
See the post about the Rollr on page 8 or 9 on in this part of the forum

Hi everyone,
is it possible to put shortcuts on HW Keyboard on BA? For example, I'd like to open a new SMS without using the stylus...
Thank You in advance. Bye

Get SPB Pocket Plus. That'll do the trick
Am I missing something here?
Your Blue Angel has a little silver Messaging button, it's the second one from the left under the screen. I press that then use the dpad...
With the silver button you can open the program, but you do not automatically open a new message (unless you change the button's settings)
With Spb I managed to put an icon on the today screen to open a new SMS. Now I can access the icon with the arrows without using the stylus (thank you!).
But I meant something slightly different. I'd like to put shortcuts directly on the BA's keyboard: to set combinations of keys that give access to specific programs or files... Even with Spb I didn't manage to do it.
Thank You for your help. Bye

how did you manage to add a shortcut to your new messages on the today screen using spb?
In Spb settings I went to the today plug-in options -> objects -> add -> file (I hope the translation is correct since I refer to the italian version...).
Then I added the file \windows\start menu\programs\spb pocket plus actions\[new message].ink
Bye

You can also add this shortcut to harware buttons through SPB.
Go to SPB options\buttons and add the shortcuts you need.
Then go to start\settings\buttons to assign these shortcuts to hardware buttons

Thank you again, helterskelter!
But my problem's that I'm not able to assign shortcuts to the BA's keyboard buttons. I can only choose (I think) among the 9 HW buttons. Bye. fabbor75
Hi, Guys
Great job on all the different ROMS.
Is it possible to set the screen orientation for specific applications. ie stay in standard portrait mode, but say I open email or tom tom. I would like the screen to change to landscape automatically and when I exit the program the screen to revert back to portrait mode. If not does any one know of an app that can do this.
cheers
That has to be written into the application.
It used to be an option in Tomtom 5, but it was a feature that was removed for Tomtom 6.
Opera browser will landscape independantly of the OS.
Sadly developers have have starting thinking that as screen rotation is available from Windows, they don't need to add it to their applications.
I'm not aware of any extra application that would monitor other opening applications and switch the display accordingly.
thanks for the quick reply. Guess I will have to manually change before opening.
just find this:
wisbar advance 3
Features
Compatible with WM2003, WM2003SE, WM5 and WM6 touchscreen devices
Uses a smaller memory footprint than WisBar Advance 2
Customize the close button, the screen orientation and the SIP on a per-application basis
Switch between any application currently running on your device
Provides a cascading start menu (as in the screenshot)
Tap and hold the OK button to cancel a dialog
Add or remove functions to the taskbar
Each button on the taskbar can be assigned a tap and a tap-and-hold action
Place shortcuts in the system tray for easier access from the Today screen
Customize a "User Menu" with applications of your choosing
Change the appearance of the taskbar, menubar, buttons and start menu in any program
Supports QVGA and VGA devices
Customize the clock's appearance on the taskbar
Hear sounds for system events, just like on your desktop
Download and install themes created by other people
I assigned the internet explorer button (bottom right) to "rotate screen".
thanks for the post,
Pete - seems to be the best solution without having to install extra apps. cheers
I've search up and down the forum and googling, all I see is people asking the same question over and over again, but there are no answers to it.
How can I create a shortcut to the settings page generally? not to any specific features! I'm using the new manila and would like to place a shortcut to the settings browser at the new start menu. I know how to edit a custom shortcut but what's the link to it? any body have any idea? It's the same link as we click on the 'All Settings' softkey when we go to settings tab.
This mite help Its not vga but it works for me.
just unzip
put the settings.exe on your ppc
and create a shortcut to it
let me now if it works for you
it works perfect! thanks! 1 thing is that it's vga so the fonts are bigger than usual.. but at least it does the job for now! how can i get a wvga version of this?
glad I could help
If you find a wvga one let me know
This is what I have on Dutty's ROM for Settings from Programs:
Registry entry HCLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\3
Command: STRING: --switchtopage Manila://settings.page
DispName: STRING: Settings
IconPath: STRING: \windows\HTC\Assets\Images\programlauncher\Program_icon\settings_88.qtc
Path: STRING: \Windows\manila.exe
I guess you can try to remove settings for VGA and setup this registry. You can choose any free position, in my case it's 3 for the first icon in second row.

No this is not I want, I had this on Dutty's rom too. But I can always get there using the touchflo slider. What I want is straight to the settings browser of windows where you got the 'Personal', 'System', 'Connection' tabs at the bottom. Thanks for helping though.
Is there a WVGA version of settings.exe?
VGA is good but not very beautiful...
Thanks.
up, is anybody have the settings.exe for wvga?
up, please, seems that dutty had this settings.exe for wvga
I'm also searching for a solution, i like the new start menu but it's very annoying not to have a direct link to the windows settings. Why do we need a settings.exe ?? I mean if go to the settings tab the left button "All Settings" points to the windows settings, there should be a registry entry or something.
Nobody has a solution for this?
sure there's a solution, for exemple dutty use it in his roms but it seems nobody show interest in this topic.....
PUH-LEEEEEEEEEZ!!
If someone know a solution please tell us!!

But on the Manila Settings tab, the left softkey goes to the Windows setting. So there have to be some kind of shortcut or registry entry behind it.
Deleted .
there is a program called "sk shortcut manager" you can use it to create shortcuts to any settings item, the program is not free but you can use the trial period to create and save all your shortcuts, google it you'll find it
here is a download link http://trials2.pocketgear.com/downloadi.asp?product_id=21828

try this app. it used to work on my 6.1 device but noticed problems that not all settings icons were displayed.
but, who knows, maybe it is rom dependent.
Hello guys,
After a long search on the web I can't find the answer to "How to create a control panel shortcut on Windows Mobile".
Out of the box, our Rhodium are packaged with a "Settings" shortcut in the start menu which links to the Settings tab of Manilla. I find this annoying, if i want to go to the manilla settings, i use manilla not the start menu.
So I want a direct link to Windows' control panel. I've seen many ways to link to a specific applet, but not the whole control panel.
Anyone can help ?
PS : Also I'm looking for the HTCSettings.exe file stored in every Rhodium (WM6.5 version)... I've accidentally deleted it :/
Thanks !
I am not sure I understand the question, but I think what you want is to be running TouchFLO instead of Windows Default.. If that is correct, the solution is simple. Click Start>Settings>ToDay>Items>TouchFLO 3D>OK>X and you should have it. What you want is to be running TouchFLO instead of Windows Default.
Hope that helps.
what he is saying is that he wants to got to the control panel or "settings" from the start menu, when you hit start and then settings it takes you to manilla settings
What annoys me is that the Bluetooth and Today screen prefs are ONLY available through the Windows CPL, things like QuickMenu don't see them..
You got is cs400, that's what I'm looking for.
Someone can send me the original HTC Settings.exe (Located in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs) ?
Okay guys, I figured out how to solve this problem by hanging around in the registry !
How to change the "Settings" icon in the Start Menu to make it open WM's Control Panel rather than Manilla's settings panel ?
- First go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and remove (or move) the file HTC Settings.exe
- Then go to the registry \HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo and change the value HideSettings from 1 to 0
- Reboot your device, it's done !
I am trying to change the 'Settings' button in the Start Menu to open the WM Control Panel instead of the Manila settings, however, the \HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo key does not exist in my registry. Is there another way to link to the Control Panel? Thanks!
WM control panel shortcut
I would appreciate anyone telling me how to make a shortcut that links to the WM Control Panel.
Thanks!

Thank-you a million times! Just installed something that crashed my HTC Sense, and couldn't for the life of me work out how to get to Remove Programs so I could un-install it! I now have my phone back, without having to go down the hard-reset route which I'd feared was my only option.
you could do as htc intended and clicked "all settings" on the settings tab for those manila doesnt cover.
Which would have worked brilliantly....had I been able to get to the settings tab in the first place.
With Sense freezing, I had to run the 'change my background' option from 'Getting Started' to get into the Today options and disable Sense. Then use the tips in this thread to get the Settings folder back on my Start Menu. Normally I would have used the All Settings option, but couldn't in this case, and it's funny how much you don't realise is missing from a start menu....until you need it!
ok, i'm not getting a response in q&a, so, sorry if this is in the wrong section...
anyone know if it's possible to assign a shortcut to the softkey action
(ie. the softkeys are different in word to those on the today screen, can i assign a shortcut to that action)
i use a bluetooth keyboard which can be configured to any shortcut. it would be real handy to be able to just hit a couple of keys rather than reach for the devices tiny screen everytime i want to activate the menu.
cheers
or even just to have the pop up menu in word would be real handy
cheers
anyone!???
