Does anyone know if this clear case is any good ?
http://www.pdamods.com/products.asp?cat=70
I have an aluminium one but would like to change it to a clear one.
I like it very much
Ordered one with Proporta
Unfortunately theyre still out of stock there (price 14,95 GBP)
I rang pdamods.com this morning and they said they have them in stock and it would be delivered to my home tomorrow - Can't wait for it !!!
i rang proporta today to cancel my order but when speaking to the guy he said:
they come in this morning do i still want to cancel my order so i changed my mind he said hell get mine sent today 1st class so i should have tomorrow also cant wait nearly 2 months of waiting lol
i just wrote them a mail awhile agoe and got it back the server said it could not resolve the addresss then i went to their site
to look for another adress
and saw that my case was marked as ready to ship aswell
hope it gets here one day
Woohoo! Good news that i might finally recieve my order. Darn shame the phone is on its 2nd visit to the xda service centre
what is wrong with your XDA 2 (again) ?
Hanging a lot, first time i sent it back they apparentely reflashed the bootloader, but the same problems were happening when they returned it.
jeeeha!! Mine is ready to ship as well.
Gues I just ordered mine just-in-time
(I canceled my previous order to express my anger form waiting more than a month)

it doesnt feel too bulky at all, in fact it is the slimmest fitting case i have found so far for the xda. I used to use the proporta aluminium case which is a little bit bigger and thicker and heavier than this.
i have given the front a good squish test and even sat on it a few times and it seems vers strong. not as solid as the aluminium one but pretty damn close (has a little more give in it)
yey, yey, yey, i get full gsm signal with the case on as oposed to half signal that i used to get with the alu one!
a little light reflection from the case, however the screen is very visible and totally clear and colourful. I havent tested it in bright sunlight yet, however with a spot lamp it is fine!!!
there doesnt appear to be a belt clip attachment at all (unlike the alu one), so this might be an issue for people
Hope this helps guys!
to sum up i think this is the best case i have found yet for the xda II, all the buttons are easily accessible and the flip over top design is much easier to hold than the side opening alu one. It is a brilliant case!
2 possible draw backs that dont bother me at all :
1) no belt clip
2) no sd storage slots
brilliant design i recommend everyone who is looking for a small case for keeping their xfda in their pocket gets this. i am very impressed. was worth the 2 month wait!!
well from looking at your pictures there is a hole under the hole for the cam
on the std case there is a hole like it and you put in the org beltclip in it and it locks
are you positive that you cant just plug in your org beltclip
i dont really use the beltclip for anything other then stoping my xda
from moving to the buttom of my front pockets, so the clip in on the outside of the pocket
(yes i have abnormaly large pockets )
Me and a colleague both ordered xda IIs last week from 02. Me on Monday, him on Tuesday. His arrived the next day mine arrived on Friday. Wierd that.
Here's a couple of things that were not right with mine. The keyboard felt very loose. It moved very easily and could be opened with a shake of the phone. My colleagues was much tighter. Not a major problem but I felt it may open on it's own when in a jacket pocket etc
When the keyboard was closed you could easily see daylight when looking into the gap between the keyboard and phone body. The gap was large enough to accommodate 4/5 sheets of paper (thickness). My friend had no daylight and not even a single sheet of paper could be slid in between the keyboard and phone body. Squeezing the keyboard and phone body between finger and thumb would 'flex' the keyboard and cause this gap to close temporarily.
All in all not very impressive build quality. I didn't even charge it up, it went straight back in the box and was returned. I'm expecting another on Wednesday.
Thanks for the info, useful.
Did you purchase via 'Personal' online?
Or via 'Business' - I've just ordered one this way, now that the weblink is working after about 3 works of it not...
£179 + VAT, then get £16.50 +VAT tariff - 100 mins, 8p landline calls, data @ £1.50/mb).
I'll believe it when I see it... and shall look out for lousy keyboard. Odd, didn't think the Taiwanese could produce anything iffy - hopefully not a fundamental design flaw.
Tekguru at tekguru.co.uk even had a broke screen on delivery on his review model.
I got a Qtek 9090 2 weeks ago and I have to say that the space between the keyboard and the rest of the unit as well as the looseness of the keyboard is worrying me a bit. I hope it won't get worse because then it would not be acceptable any more...
Can anyone comment on the evolution of their unit over time with respect to these problems?
Thanks.
Received my replacement XDA IIs today. Keyboard / Gap is much better. Very pleased with it. There is some very slight lateral movement (<0.5mm) between the screen half and the body half ( when viewed head on ) but nothing serious. Better charge it up !
I got my XDAIIs on wednesday and had the same thing, i'll be sending mine back for a replacement as well
3 QTEKs all with different gaps
My 2 colleagues and I received our QTEKs last week, 2 with a slightly loose keyboard and 1 quite tight.
The good news is your not alone in the slider / keyboard gap issue
The bad news is the gap gets BIGGER with use
This may be adjustable , ie: tightening down. Does anyone know where to get a parts blowup of a PDA2K/O2 XDAIIs/QTEQ 9090 ? That may shed some needed light on this evolving problem.
Cant see any problems with it yet.
Slide down keyboard is stiff and secure, no gaps or loose
Screen has no yellow tinge
wifi works, but signal is low.
after reading some of the posts here in the days before my XDAIIs arrived
i was dredding it realy.
the problems i was reading made me feal like sending it back in return post.
BUT
as was said in one or two other posts, it looks like O2 have got the good stock
the wifi problem looks like its here, but saying that it works all round my house and threw walls here, so im happy there.
the signal isnt as strong as my laptop shows.
however driveing down the road, it picks up all sorts of wifi signals.
the volume of the outgoing voice sounds ok.
i mean ive asked a few callers and they say i sound fine.
i use the GPS mouse with a cable that splits to the car ciggy lighter
it was a worry i had (from reading posts here) that it wouldnt fit.
back when i got the gps mouse there wasnt a cable for my XDAII so i took a chance and got the one for the XDA,
it woked fine on my XDAII charging and working the GPS mouse.
so.....
today i tryed the XDAIIs AND IT WORKED !!!
i wish i could remember the name of the mouse, i will look tomorrow for you guys.
but GPS WIRED MOUSE/CHARGER for XDA works on the XDAII and XDAIIS
(without forceing the plug in)
if i find any major problems i will post here in this thred..
I'm on my 3rd O2 xdaIIs and it's a good one ( stiff keyboard/no gaps/no yellow ) all working and I'VE DROPPED IT. Chipped some of the paint of down the left hand side near the camera/record/volume buttons. gutted.
xda iis is it a good buy?
I'm looking into getting the xda iis after january and looking for all the pros and cons. have read it has a bad quality screen unlike the xda ii or iii,...I'm not up to date on things nor do I know a great deal on technology, (only what looks good)...but I don't like to have to use a stylus and have fairly big hands.. I'm sure you have seen about all the flaws and problems relating to this phone/pda...but what do you think first hand, now after having and using it yourself? And also if I might ask, does it meet your standards or live up to your expectations...? Any comments or ideas? I personally don't know whether to look forward to it, or to wait for something else. :?
If you don't like using a stylus, I'm curious as to why you would want a Pocket PC. Even with the thumb keyboard, you need to use the stylus most of the time. Would a Nokia 9500 not suit you better?
As for big hands, my glove size is 12 (or XXXL) and I have little problem with the keyboard on the XDAIIs.
There are quite a few negative comments on here regarding the IIs, but they seem to be based on earlier units, suggesting there were problems with the first batch. My IIs seemed to be part of a later batch and has no physical problems (keyboard is nice and tight, no yellow tint unless I view from a crazy angle, wifi works really well) though the bluetooth software is still dodgy (waiting on O2 to test and release the patch) and there are a few really minor bugs that will be ironed out.
But if you don't want to use a stylus, I would think long and hard about getting a Pocket PC. They are designed to be used with a stylus. The keyboard is really there to augment the normal, pen-based input; not to replace it.
stylus for blue angel
It's not that I dislike the stylus, I just don't want to use it all the time and don't want it to be the only option as on the xda II. I don't mind it for applications and bits, but not too much word input. It puts me off a bit. I do like the keyboard option on the II s, as I have had a look and feel of the II s and was highly impressed by what I saw. It definately suits me (as long as it is a good one and not full of bugs)...as far as nokia....I have never liked any of them... just personal prefs really. I've been wanting a pocket pc as I find they are really interesting and you can do a lot with them, however I'm a bit slow when it comes to knowing what's what when it comes to things like this. Are you happy with yours?
Just got mine, the screen seems ok no yellowish color, havent had chance to play with the Wifi yet.
The keyboards a different story like, seems really loose and really doing my head in, you would think it would lock in quite tight like my samsung e800
How have you gone about getting 02 to swap yours?
Are you guys basically reporting that you have NO yellow on your screen?? Unless I look straight on my pda2k has a substantial yellowing. It's starting to bug me...
Even though I got the black version, I was expecting my family to notice my watch the day I got it, but it took a whole week before someone said anything and even then it was my boss! Strangely that same night my mom finally noticed too lol
So when did you get your first person to go "Oh what watch is that?"
I bet the stainless gets noticed a lot quicker than the black!
C'mon. Quit trying to be vapid
That's for iPhone users.
Android users just live in silence
they asked if it was the apple watch lol....
i think the beauty of the device is that it is not noticeable....

Yeah the first day I was super self-conscious trying not to show off my arm, but after a day or two I realized people just think it's a regular watch! Well the black one anyway, I might have got more attention with the stainless one, it looks like every stainless got noticed on the very first day!

I got that from a waitress, I made sure to say "nah the apple one is square"
got it on friday and saw people till sunday and monday
I was having a conversation with someone, when my brand new Moto 360 (Stainless) lit up to show that I'd received an email. That immediately grabbed the other person's attention, and from that moment on, the watch was the conversation.
When it's just sitting on my wrist, it gets very little attention as people just assume it's a regular watch without looking too closely. When I actually start using it though, I invariably get questions or comments.
Different reactions for me. Everyone seem to noticed and complemented. Maybe its my kickass steel band. =)

Thus far, nobody has noticed / commented on the stainless one I have, and it hasn't been covered with long-sleeved shirts or anything, either.
No one really has noticed my stainless 360. I also put the pebble steel watch band on it.
I was expecting the same reactions like "what watch is that" all the time.
Only time I had someone say/ask something was when i was using it to read a text about what someone wanted to order at a restaurant. Cashier asked "what watch is that? Ive seen it at Best Buy but never have seen anyone with it"
I think you'd get more looks and comments if it were square. The 360 is more elegant and fits right in being a watch.
I've been asked 5 times if it's an Apple Watch. When I explain what it is and what it does they're very impressed and the Apple Watch talk stops!
I was asked if it was the I-watch twice. Shows you how much Apple has a hold of the general public.
im not a big watch wearer, so it was noticeable the first day.
I get more attention with the Moto 360 than with my $3k Movado Tungsten watch. Not really sure how that happened.
The silver one is definitely more noticeable. Black one seems like any other watch until it turns on.

I have gotten the iwatch comment all the time. Some think my watch is broken because of the black screen.
I have the stainless steel version and had the super engineer band on it. But I have not gotten any comments with my leather band.

Stainless, leather band.
A friend was puzzle when he saw a display off and wondered how I tell the time. I simply raised my arm and showed him. >.<
No public comments yet as I have mostly been wearing long sleeved shirts.

The poll results tell you everything you need to know
I've had mine (stainless) for a week now and so far not one person has asked about it, including at a 4 hour birthday party. I think most people assume it's a regular watch when I'm out, and at work, people probably already know what it is but are too awkward to ask about it (I'm a software engineer).
First things first i'm glad to say that i'm a new Note 4 owner and god it feels good to be back (came from a iPhone 6+ and a G3 before that). So today i went to a local AT&T corporate store wanting to get the black Note 4 on the AT&T next plan. To my dismay they only had the white ones in stock and after having two white phones i wanted something else. I got the phone and i knew it was love at first sight. About 30 minutes after leaving the store i noticed at the very bottom of the screen there was a gap that stuck out like a sore thumb (bottom left). Being an expensive device i was unhappy so i decided to take it back to see if they could exchange it.
Long story short they acknowledged that there was a gap however they said that "all of their batches" had this problem and when i asked if they could bring one out to show me they quickly denied my request and told me to try a different store and that if i wanted to return it i could, but would be charged a $35.00 restocking fee I left the store infuriated and called AT&T directly and told them what was on my mind. Luckily the representative was VERY understanding and very nice her manager was also standing behind her and also agreed it was outrageous that they tried to charge me a restocking fee considering i just bought the phone less than an hour ago and that they would credit me $35.00 to my account in case i got charged.
I went to a second AT&T store and they weren't helpful either but at least they brought out two other devices showing me that there were gaps (not noticeable like mine though) the AT&T representative stayed on the phone the whole time listening to my conversation with the store manager and representative. She was nice enough to let the store know that her and her manager were standing by my side and that they wanted me to be happy with my purchase. At that point i decided that i wanted a black Note 4 considering it hides everything better. Unfortunately they didn't have any and i was referred to a 3rd store. Luckily that store had 1 left and the guy who helped me understood and saw the gap and exchanged it out for me within seconds!
Happy to hear you eventually got everything sorted. It's unfortunate that AT&T stores vary so much from each other, let alone have different decisions from the "big guys" over the phone. Has a similar issue with my Note 3. I simply believe they choose to go this route with deflecting problems and telling you you have to pay a fee because they know people will fall for it. Glad you got it worked out, and the exact phone you wanted!! The black looks much better in person to me anyways.
I hadn't noticed the gap at the bottom on my white Note until reading your post lol. Still doesn't bother me but glad you got yours resolved. I was considering getting rid of the white at first because the back was noticeably more slippery than that in the black. I almost wonder if it was worse than the Note 3's difference in texture. But then I had the bright idea to see what it looks like with the grayish flip cover and man there's something gorgeous about the white contrast in between the grey covers. Either way, awesome devices.

i dont have any gaps on mine. I guess i'm lucky? When I got the phone, i looked at the gaps and actually said to myself "this is what people were complaining about"?
what is this gap you guys are talking about? can anyone please take a pic? thanks

i dont have a pic because my device is fine (there might be pics online) but basically, the gap between the screen and the frame around the edge was large for some people to handle.

Now that you mention it, I kind of see it but nothing that warrants a replacement. thanks
Sorry to hear about your bad experience.
I just had a great experience at the AT&T store.
The sales consultant who helped me was courteous and knowledgeable.
Just happy that I was able to pick one Note 4 unit up today after being disappointed yesterday at the BestBuy as my preorder unit wasn't available. I also got $100 credit for turning an old iPhone 4 in for a trade up deal.
What a great phone!
This entire thread is stupid because there is no such thing as a "gapgate" issue. (1) YES, there is a slight, minuscule gap found on ALL Samsung Note devices. (2) This is BY DESIGN and intended. (3) ALL Note's have featured this purposefully-made gap, since the Note 2, and it is detailed in the OWNER'S MANUAL of the Note 2, Note 3, and now Note 4. (4) No one paid the gap any attention since it's barely noticeable, until the CrApple bendgate scandal came into play. Magically, CrApple aficionados tried to find something to fault Samsung/the Note on, and somewhere they found that tiny gap. (5) The gap is NEEDED so that when the phone heats up and the glass naturally expands, it can do so without any harm. Without the gap, the glass will expand and CRACK. Also, the gap is needed to prevent damage when the phone is dropped. If the glass was welded to the side of the phone (almost impossible) the glass will almost certainly shatter when you drop it. Samsung has stated in the manual, that the gap can be more noticeable on certain side of the phone (varies by device), and on some phones it's not even noticeable. Enjoy your phones and stop obsessing over something so asinine and trivial.

there are no gaps on mine either. not sure what these guys are seeing.
This for the most part is hogwash! If everyone stops to read the manual it actually points out that this is by design. Case closed!
