Looks like my main battery for O2 XDA NEO is dying, maybe WM6 is eating more of my battery power. Now I want to get a replacement battery. Besides the factory type isnt there a newer version and holds more charge too? Not sure about reliability, if anyone can share some of their experinces will be great.

Batteries with Extanded Covers ... THEY SUCKS!
The Cover is crap!
The 1800mAh isnt easy to find ... i think its the best Batterie in the moment. If HTC make a extanded batterie kit ... buy it! I have a Startrek with new Coverer and the Quality is very high!
Do you have a link or a pic of the battery? why the extanded covers sucks can you explain that?

you destroy your phone's beauty and also many times the covers are not exactly the same color but enough in order to see the differece also many times they dont completly fit
true ... true
My friends and I are using the 1800mAh batteries from this seller http://search.stores.ebay.com.au/SO...dgetsQQfsooZ2QQfsopZ2QQsaselZ30323434QQsofpZ0
Comparing to my one year old 1200mAh original battery the results were obvious. I could get more than 90 hours of standby with a few mins of call each day. Something I couldn't have thought of with a PocketPC phone.
It's been about 5 months since my purchase, the battery is still good. I heard from others that non-genuine battery tend to have shortened lifespan in just a few months.
Only about 3 to 5 grams heavier and 1mm thicker (which leaves no space between the back cover and the battery) if you do notice these minute differences. It's crucial that the battery won't make your Prophet any thicker!
My only complain was, if you asked, that it took almost a week for the delivery. Otherwise I'm happy with it.

Maybe WM6 has some bug that is draining your battery so much. I have 1200mA battery and it works 4-5 days before recharging.

forgot to say, battery is not heating up at all - I left it on charge for 3 or 4 hours last night and nothing - however, residual charge is actually powering the PDA so there is life in there. Must be the chip that reports on battery condition and charge etc.
Also, I have tried both in 3 different PDA (m600's) and same problem. One phone has an 1800mah battery purchased from ebay and that looks exactly the same but works fine - so it's not as if the PDA can't handle non-standard size.
Hope this helps.
Hi,
I need to buy a new battery for my Universal, as the current one is getting old and does not manage a heavy workday anymore.
I have seen the ones offered at eBay and I am aware that they are not original ones.
The question I have: are they worth the 15 Euro, or should I buy an original battery for 40 Euro? Is there a way to distinguish good ones from bad ones just by looking at the pictures?
I am only interested in the 1600-1700 mA ones, as I don't want my Universal to get bigger.
Thanks!
Cheers,
vma
I bought a 4800mAh battery 3 months ago from China, and it is working very well..
Pm me if you would like to know Ebayer contact. (he should have standard batteries too)
Hi,
Thanks for the offer, but I prefer to buy from european sellers through eBay. Customs is very problematic here in Portugal and might cost more than the original product (i.e. 25 Euro just for the handling...).
I just would like to know which ebay-sold batteries with regular size would be recommended.
Cheers,
vma
@ unapproachable2kx
How much bigger does the 4800 make the xda?
Just to let you guy's know: I bought a battery at ebay (1750 mAh) and it seems to work fine. Total cost with shipping: 23 Euro.

Could you tell me which ebayer sold it?
Hi,
The seller was "trade-shop", but they are located in Germany.
The item I purchased was like this one: 330220303130
The picture however, does not represent the actual battery I got and they advertise it as 1700mAh, while the one I got is 1750mAh,
But the point is: my Universal was not lasting a whole day (12 hours - 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) anymore. It would shut off at 6 p.m. when I received a little more phone calls.
Now it lasts like 48 hours!
Cheers,
vma
i bought a 1750 mAh battery too
phone was switching off all the time etc
now lasts about 72 hours with random texting during the day
or 48 hours with random texting and calls
Maybe anybody could advice something?
Today I received at last new battery 4800 mAh which i've bought from ebay for 37$ with delivery from Hong Kong to Russia, producer Cameron Sino Technology. Well, now it is already more then 16 hours of charging without any success - red led is lighting all that time but my Qtek 9000 doesn't want to start:-( So guys maybe anybody coud advice something? And make the note for yourself about this ****ing producer of battery!!!
size of 1750mah

i got a 1750mah battery and it fits perfectly
I've just purchased my THIRD extended battery for my MDA PRO, and I have learned quite a lot over the past few years so I will share some of this information with you, in the form of a buyer's guide to getting a new battery for your HTC Universal.
Types
There are THREE different physical types of replacement battery (PU16A) available for the HTC Universal. These are:
Standard (original) type battery. These are the same size as the battery that came with your Universal when you originally purchased it, so they do not increase the size or weight of your device and do not need a new back cover. They vary in rated capacity from 1600 to 1750mAh, and are the cheapest to buy.
Extended battery. There are 3 or 4 different brands of this type floating around, and they vary in rated capacity from 3150 to 3800mAh. At the moment the 3150mAh 'Cameron Sino' brand is by far the most widely available on eBay. These are also cheap, and actually offer the best price/mAh rating of all (bang for buck). These also significantly increase the size and weight of your device, and they require a new back cover (which should always be included when you buy the battery).
Ultra extended battery. There are 3 different brands of this type: The 4800mAh 'Cameron Sino' which is the cheapest, the 5000mAh Worcell which is a LOT more expensive, and at the very top we have the 5200mAh Mugen which is VERY expensive indeed. This type of battery increases the size and weight of your device even further, and includes a new back cover which is larger than the one found on 3xxx mAh batteries (although in my opinion it does look better!).
My main point is that within each type, the various different brands of battery are all physically identical, that means they have exactly the same components as each other. It is possible that they may have been made in different factories, eg. some in Japan and some in China, although to be honest I doubt this as it just does not make financial sense to produce this product in anywhere other than 1 factory.
Quality issues
The first 3200mAh battery I purchased was faulty, my phone just displayed a red light and refused to boot no matter what I did. The replacement was fine however, and I have been using it until today as my new 4800mAh battery has just arrived
Reading through these forums, it seems that quite a few people have experienced the "red light" issue on new batteries purchased from eBay sellers in Hong Kong. This is not common at all, but there is a small risk that it can happen.
In my opinion though, the massive amount of money you can save by purchasing the battery from eBay is more than worth this risk (all sellers should replace faulty batteries anyway). The 5200mAh Mugen battery for example is nearly five times more expensive than a Cameron Sino 4800mAh from eBay, and this is close to the actual cost of an entire second hand HTC Universal! So from the Ultra category I think only the 4800mAh battery is good value, the 5000 and 5200 models are just FAR too expensive for such little extra benefit - which you are highly unlikely to notice anyway.
Coming soon: Photographs of the 3 different types of battery that are available.
thanks for the tip man
I just ordrered 5200 one from Murgen, hoping to review it soon

Sorry for my first post on this board to be a whinge, but I've found the post extremely useful until I realised it doesn't quite make sense. Are the 4800/5000/5200's the same or different?
Not trying to be picky, but I would actually love to know as I've recently got a 2nd hand universal, and my battery is dying before I get back home from work. This thread seems like it has a lot of info which will be very useful/interesting to me, once it's cleared up.
They are not the same, 4800mah is cheapest and pretty massive and deliveres best bang for the buck performance... 5000 and 5200 models are much expencive and delivers not too much better performance than 4800mAh model...
Building battery for Uni
There is also a possibility to build your own battery for Uni and this hand-made battery is very useful where you don't find the battery for your device....like me.
There is no battery available in my country for Uni and I've built the battery for my device last year, which is still working great.
Tomal: That sounds very interesting, what is the battery life like? And what chemistry is it, Lithium Ion, Lithium Ion Polymer or something else?
Could you take a few pictures? I would love to see it!

Please READ the Wiki, there is a section of battery problems
Good luck
What does one have to do AFTER getting a new battery? Do we need to fully charge it, or fully discharge it? Please let me now as my battery arrives on wednesday.
I made a fully discharge then fully charge, but the problem continues.
Maybe the new battery isn't that new as the seller claims???
Hi,
can anyone recommend any ebay seller who sells a good battery for xda exec? I've read that there are batteries that discharged fast, so I would like to have someone who has succeeded in purchasing a good battery on ebay recommendation.
Thanks.

HI
I SELL A BATTERI 4 UNI FROM 3200 mAh IS NEW AND IN THE PACK
IF U ARE INTEREST SEND ME AN EMAIL
BYE
The original batteries are manufactured by Dynapack, part number of standard is PU16A, the extended 3800mAh has part number PU16B. IMHO if you ask seller what is the manufacturer and P/N of battery he sells, it may help. I would too buy only original, my friend has so called 4500mAH battery, it lasts much less than my original 3800mAh.

Has anyone come across this before? Any reviews? Is this the Slim one?
I have never heard of this, but it looks amazing! Thank you. I'm gonna ask the seller. Seeming that the description claims it to be a Lithium Polymer battery it is very likely that it is normal sized. In the past I searched around and never found a lithium polymer battery for the Galaxy phones. It would be really nice if all phones had high capacity lithium polymer batteries.
My question is that something for the 19000 battery wise is the same size as all other Galaxy 1 variants correct?

Yes, you are right. After some more research @Wikipedia, LiPoly Batteries can have high capacity and can be used safely provided that you use the original chargers and not the cheap Chinese crap. BLE is not needed for them . I might buy one soon, If i do, will update this thread. Wish me luck.

Well ebay says he's got positive feedback so just keeping my fingers crossed.
Hi !
Any feedback about this battery ?
Did you received it in time ?
Is it really better than the 1500 or 1800mAh ?
Thank you
To good to be true I think
I'd also love a battery which claims what this one does at this price, but It seems to good to be true. A bit of Googling shows a review for this battery with 2/2 "average" reviews which show it did not perform as promised (but it did work). There are also some other review sites which say pretty much the same thing. (I'd love to post the URL but can't because I'm a noob. A search for B005O8S4V0 on amazon.co.uk will find this.
Also, I think that if this technology was legit Samsung would have shipped it with the unit itself !!
Pity, I was really hoping it would work. I hate it that all the aftermarket batteries I have purchased sucked compared to the original.
DG
Yep i've finally bought a 1800mAh PolaCell battery. It seemed more secured to me.
Maybe i'm wrong (I hope for those who bought it) but as you said the 2430mha chinese one is too cheap to be true.
Lithium Ion is different to Lithium Polymer, the one on the link is a Lithium Polymer
More Details here
Code:
http://jartiuch.wordpress.com/2007/11/01/nimh-or-li-ion-or-li-polymer-what-to-consider%E2%80%A6/
Basically, Lithium Polymer batteries can have the same size but higher capacity, so there is a good chance that the battery is real.
But again I haven't still bought it cause I am running on a tight budget, but I am planning to buy one when I am selling my phone so that I can buy an Galaxy S3.
That doesn't look like it could be a Li-Ion Polymer cell due to the rounded edge. Only a square edge or foil pack would mean it's a true prismatic cell which is the casing for Li-Ion Poly cells.
The 3.7V vs 3.6V already shows that most of these are using a technology better than just standard Li-Ion, so it wouldn't really be much of an improvement.
Different manufacturer use different materials for anode, cathode, and electrolyte and these Chinese companies use the cheapest ones. So you're either getting what you pay for or getting ripped off depending on how you look at the false advertising.
I heard this battery(same label/producer on other handsets) is very bad.
I think I grabbed the wrong one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/28086765575...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_3124wt_1163
It does look the same, but 2450. Interestingly it is made in Japan, not China. Here's the weight, plus the OEMs that I have for comparison:
32.3g OEM Captivate 1500mAh
34.3g Japan "Gold" 2450mAh
36.65g OEM Epic 1800mAh
So I was expecting it to come out around 1650mAh, but it gave me 1910 the first time. I'll use it for a few weeks and run another test. Not really sure what to expect though.
Edit: This battery is crap. 2nd run at 200mAh it failed at 4 hours, about 850mAh drained. Now it's hovering just over 3.5v, right over where the phone would shut down. Trying to get the rest out so I can cycle it again, but I think it will be getting a funeral tomorrow.
Been running the "2430mAh battery" for about a week now with Battery Monitor Widget. Estimated rating is ~1300 mAh. Not great, but still gets me through the day with light-moderate usage.
For $10 it was worth a shot. At least the battery isn't COMPLETE garbage. :S
I already have an 1800mah anker and it is working fine for around $10....I am getting an oem epic battery tomorrow hopefully and I just ordered this
http://www.amazon.com/Mugen-Extende...Z9TQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1338532343&sr=8-2

Don't buy from that seller, seller1on1 did not ship a real mugen battery instead he shipped a cheap ass 3500mah chinese battery and door you can get on ebay for $8.
This has been the strangest battery. After the second cycle I got 2300mAh out of it, but the phone was randomly shutting off. It started behaving after that though.
From what I understand some of these no name batteries come from good manufacturers' fail bins. They sell them off cheap instead of dumping them in landfill. So if that is the case, it's kind of a gamble.

I just got the gold battery from eBay. 2430MAH along with the battery charger for charging the battery externally. It was about $8.50 and comes within a week. Just search i9000 gold battery. I'm pretty sure I've got it calibrated. With light use I get up to 13 hours so far and up to 10 hours approximately with heavier use. Amazing buy so far
