Since a year I am using it, (earlier Tom-Tom 3 and 5, and on BA Garmin CS7) IGO need less memory (about 5 MB), has better algorithm, easier, has newer and more detailed maps, dated end of Juni, also included central and eastern Europe, in most cases, smallest villages with house numbering. With IGO is possible saving tracks in *.gpx format.

real vga
The only and big problem. I doesnt work in real vga. If you set the option (force QVGA) then you can lauch it but the taps of the stilus refer to QVGA so it's imposible to use. What a pitty because its a nice program.¡¡
I have been using it now for about 3 month and am very happy
I have used the IGO during several months in the Himalaya and has worked very well.
In the Universal IGO works very well but there is a problem, in settings/password I have marked "prompt if device unused for 5 minutes", and the device is blocked although the IGO is working. Exists some solution for that?
With the himalaya that does not happen.

Dutch Voice?
Is there a Dutch Voice floating around for iGO?
My experience with iGo on my Universal:
Seems to have a memory leak issue. Run it a few times and watch your memory dissappear... This is extremely noticable when calculating very long routes and the app reports an error and stops creating the route. I guess the longer the route the greater the memory requirement?
The UK voice is in metres which is not compatible with the Uk. You have to select the american voice to get voice announcements in miles/yards/feet. This is a big oversight by the makers.
Auto night mode is very nice...
Speed warnings are useless. I could be doing 40 in a 60 zone and get a warning. Also the accuracy is outdated. Would be nice to have an option to set it for motorways and dual carriageways only (where the speed limits are likely to remain accurate).
Load time is much slower than tomtom.
It doesn't always exit cleanly, requiring a soft reset.
Maps are very nice, best i've seen. Map data seems to be better than tomtom.
Routing preferences not easy to change on the fly. Only 2 basic choices of fastest or shortest. I would love to see satnav apps come up with a "rush hour" mode which avoids major roads at such times, for example.
Excessive voice prompts when approaching next manouvre. All I really need is 1 prompt and what the next manouvre is. Also, the actual manouvre is often left to the very last moment which can be a little worrying (especially if trying to get into the correct lane at a roundabout for example).
Overall it's a nice app and hopefully future versions will address my issues (especially the memory one). In the meantime i think i'll retain tomtom, though i plan to carry on testing iGo and Destinator 6.

amai that's too bad! ;-(
I loved the screendumps.. but real vga mode is more important.. i'll stick with tomtom.. at least until igo supports real vga
Finally i ve replaced tomtom with igo. I love it. When i want to run it i have to change to VGA (instead of Real VGA) but the new rom aku3.2 RC1 starup in 30 secs so no problem for me....
did anybody try my speed cams POI ???

Hi
I have on my mobile phone with ROM "DIAMOND Edition by Akeo_V3.1" IGO8 FINAL installed but I have some problems...
I go to www.poiplaza.com and download speedcams of my country in format .kml but where I paste them? what is correct folder?
one more question is why I cant rotate screen with IGO8? some one have this problem?
Best Regards, Filipe Abrantes
The file .kml must be converted. i don't remember the program's name (see gpsforum.biz).
location for speedcams: \iGo8\CONTENT\SPEEDCAM\
you can't rotate the screen because of the iGO version you have. Yours I presume it's a beta.
but have some version who I can rotate the screen?

if Igo8 the version you are using surporting this, then its OK,
also you can change the config for the file SYS,
example, If igo8 support 240x320 and also 320x240.
if you like to use 320x240
then you go to SYS to amend it

i challenge anybody in claiming igo8 works well on the trinity! try routing a long trip and you will get "not enough memory"...this is simply a lack of RAM memory.....
problem whith igo8
Hello I also installed igo8, but sometimes goes to shots (especially in the round) and delays the position of gps / - 20mt.
To you it works perfectly?
Ciao anche io ho installato igo8;ma a volte va a scatti(in modo particolare nelle rotonde) e ritarda la posizione del gps di +/- 20mt.

iGO8 on Trinity
Running iGO8 on a 64M device is a challange, I agree. Some claim it is impossible, and I was one of thenm until recently, but there are some go around that helps make it work. I currently run a fully loaded ROM, not even a naked one, and able to run TouchFlo Manila most of the time, and have iGO8 run with some tweaks.
First make sure the following lines are on your sys.txt:
[debug]
cache=2048
reserve_memory=1500000
[navigation]
sim_speed_factor=3
That by itself will allow iGO claculate long routs (at least 500 miles long), recalculate when taking the wrong turn, display 3D maps with terrain without delays, and most important - will not crash, while allowing phone to work, emails to be recieved, etc.
If your ROM does not have 20M RAM free before iGO runs, it is most likely because of today plugins. Here is a neat trick. Use mToday (see mobile.htc.com). It's a freeware that allows to have two today screens. Create a secondary today screen that has only iGO on it. I gain more than 20M with this trick, and iGO runs happily...
I have to admit I did not invent this, but I gathered this info into one place for the Trinity folks as somehow iGO8 is a big deal for me (ex TT user, but iGO rulez for me) but not mentioned too often in this forum for Trinity. I even made tynynt mad when I was asking him about his tynynt015 and iGO8..
Oh, and TT8 is not a PDA version as far as I know, not that I care right now. I have abandoned TT for good. I still have a TT paid acount until March 2009 (yes, I am legit) I can not care less...

My First thanks to Football. He was there when I was starting learning cooking for the x51v, and also there to answer some questions that lead me to this new rom. Also he has provided a very interesting kitchen for the axim. I 've used this very same kitchen to build up this A09 release
This thread is actually a continuation of this one, where I have started the concept of having a private professional rom for the axim.
This is the final step of this concept. This rom is indeed a full professional rom, with this rom your x51v is not a PDA anymore, it will just become a real VOIP Pdaphone.
What is the difference between a x51v regular rom with a VOIP software (like Sjphone) and this WM6.1 VOIP rom?
Here are the main benifits once your axim is properly configured:
- You only need to turn on your wifi to place or receive VOIP call (You don't need to start any software because the VOIP is native on the OS)
- You can call directly from your contact PIM database.
- You can import call log and dialed number from any other phone using PimBackup.
- There are three way to check your PDAphone is connected to the VOIP network
1/ You can see the two network call bar from the top bar
2/ You can use the VOIP today plugin
3/ You can see your VOIP network from the phone application itself.
Also this incredible rom is available in 5 different localized version: WWE/WWE/GER/ITA/ESN/FRA
Status of these 5 roms:
Rom A09 PRO_VOIP (private "pure" edition):
WM6.1 Professional - CE OS 5.2.19965 (Build 19965.1.2.3) with "4.8 MB Pagepool"
And includes the following
-- Native VOIP support
-- Setup VOIP from Schap to configure your VOIP setup.
-- SDHC support
-- WPA-TSK vagus fix.
-- NetCF 3.5
-- SQLCE 3.5 (Localized)
-- Softkey Applet (a powerfull applet that allows you to change your softkey without having to soft reset)
-- TCPMP 0.72 (Localized) with two different subtitle support (thanks will5 for the information about the new subtitle pluggin) and YouTube support (Subtitle support for SMI in video "Intel 2700G" mode and not in "Intel 2700G Decoder" mode)
It also includes avc, aac & ac3 plugin. TCPMP is an alternative to WM Player. File associations is availble in TCPMP settings
-- PIE 6.1 and YouTube plugin, scrolling can be done using directional button, PIE Ramdisk is available in Scripts & Tricks section (it uses ram for PIE cache to improve performance). About the YouTube Plugin, it works natively. If you surf on YouTube with PIE, when you click on a video a context menu will be displayed (see screenshot above). Then you will be able to save the video or to view it online through TCPMP.
-- DF's PIM Backup 2.8 (a replacement for Data Backup)
-- ModemIS, a string initialization modem utility.
-- PocketRAR 3.80 (Localized)
-- 7-zip, if you need to extract 7z compressed files.
-- Windows Live 10.6.39.1300 (Localized)
-- aximsite wireless switcher
-- screen capture, a simple screen capture utility
-- Notepad, a very usefull text editor.
-- GSFinder+, a replacement for File Explorer, this version has an High Resolution feature. I find this software more interesting than Resco Explorer because of this feature and also because it's faster.
-- DF's Task Manager / Registry Editor 3.1, a very good task manager embedding a usefull registry editor (with this software and GSFinder+, you don't need Resco File explorer anymore).
-- x51v Mix
-- ozVGA and WM6.1 trueVGA Localized dlls, to switch in TrueVGA mode
-- MortScrip 4.1
-- rlToday with minii skin (see today screen shots), an alternative for Date today plugin, it display home time, plus 2 other time zone.
-- NoPluginsToday, a switcher to quickly de-activate all your plugin and re-activate them all. Plugin de-activation will boost your device.
-- MagicButton, is activated by default, so all application will close and release memory instead of being minimized (a replacement for switcher bar)
-- Ramdisk see "Menneisyys" article
-- Hibernate, a powerfull tool to claim unused memory.
-- Remote Desktop Mobile
-- UC ROM capability
with following registry tricks:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ObjectStore\RegistryType=0 , (file based registry)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Navigation\"4-Way Nav"=0
You can use Paveld PPeditor if you want to change PagePool and generate a new crc file. (Thanks Paveld & wllw from 4pda)
Instruction to use Paveld PPeditor
Original A08 Classic rom and kitchen from Football are available here.
Update: A09 VOIP Gold release
It's more like a dking special, those rom have :
--a patched gwes.exe to avoid the display problem in menus (thanks to dking that was kind enough to explain me his tutorial published in russian in 4pda.)
--dking patched drivers for Axim's screen backlight on minimum brightness
--Wireless Manager activated
--magic button is removed from startup
Last Update: A09 523F release
WM6.1 VOIP Pro (21055) WWE only
WM6.1 Classic (21055) WWE only
These two roms are build over the last WM6.1 build (dated september 2009) this build has finger scrolling hability
(for the pro rom office mobile is available via UC)
features:
--pure WM6.1 rom with only added screen capture utility, x51v Mix, Mortscript, SDHC support, WPA-TSK vagus fix, Softkey Applet, aximsite wireless switcher.
--dking 2700G driver
--patched Wireless Manager
--a 450 Ko dking DKLogo slot, that you can use to customize the x51v Boot Logo with dking Dell Logo Utility. The slot is preloaded with default WM6.1 welcome screen, you can put a compressed image up to 450 Ko (to compare with the Dell original logo that weight 120 Ko compressed).
--The Pro rom has native VOIP plus all WM6.1 bonus that will be installed by UC (Including My Phone and SkyMarket, and other bonus), I guess that these could be used with classic rom also but I didn't check if they would work with a non pro rom.
known bug when using the embedded new pie version: a mouse pointer is displayed, it will disappear after power off and on.
Trick
Multiple File Drag Select or Touch Scrolling Effect! (from jclampy)
For pagepool changer add the following line in fwtypes.cfg:
Dell X51v WM6.1 A09 523F -> 0x002829EE
Tip for downloading from rapidshare: use jdownloader.
If you like these rom and you wish to donate.
If you are interested by the french rom please participate here.
Localized today screens
Some tricks related to VOIP part:
You can use up to two VOIP configuration. Using setup VOIP from Schap, you can create your 1st VOIP configuration.
Then go to \Windows\system\VOIP and duplicate the Prov1SIPSettings file to Prov1BackupSIPSettings. Re-use setup voip to configure your second VOIP configuration.
If you don't use headset, and you use the speaker and mike from the x51v (by using it up side down), reduce the speaker sound to avoid echoing.
Great job!!
I've been searching for a WM6.1 ROM in Spanish for my X51v and just found this thread. I'll test it as soon as I find a download link.
Thanks so much, makuu!

thank you very much!
Hi makuu, there is a problem with the RS links, it says they've reached a limit of 10 downloads.
Limit reach
Hello makuu !
I've tried the download link for the WWE ROM and it's giving me the following error :
This file is neither allocated to a Premium Account, or a Collector's Account, and can therefore only be downloaded 10 times.
This limit is reached.
To download this file, the uploader either needs to transfer this file into his/her Collector's Account, or upload the file again. The file can later be moved to a Collector's Account. The uploader just needs to click the delete link of the file to get further information.

I would love to try out your VOIP PRO version. Thanks a lot for your work !
I can not use link with WWE ver.
First of all, thanks about your effort.
And, I really want to use your this rom. But, I can not down load it.
Message is "Dieses Limit ist erreicht."
Could you upload it again to other?
I am away and won't be able to upload before thursday. Please provide me with a different file hosting system, if you know other than RapidShare. So I'll upload the rom elsewhere.
I have added new links to the link.txt file.
thanks for the new ROM.
I dont use VOIP other than skype's pc-to-pc (does it cost money to find a plan) and so i also dont know how to set it up, but it seems very easy to do so.
I have noticed in the past that magic button is an awful app and very buggy. five minutes into playing with the new rom the "OK" button is not responsive.
And I've tried to configure the clock on the top (deleting the two smaller ones from the options, but on the main screen they don't disappear)
those two things aside, it is great that you have built the voip into the rom, it is very awesome.
Thanks for all your work makuu! Is there any chance you can release a kitchen for this ROM, so I can remove some applications I don't use? I usually like having a "clean" device with very few programs installed.
Thanks!
VoIP settings
Hello everyone,
I installed this great ROM a couple hours ago and it works great. I find it to be extremely fast and responsive as we all like our ROM to be !
I'm looking around these new built-in apps and features and the one that interests me the most is of course the VoIP feature, right !
At first I though I could use Skype to set my VoIP account but after I looked up on the Skype web site, I found it to be NOT SIP compatible ...
I live in Canada, Quebec to be precise, and I'm looking for a SIP VoIP provider where I could create an account and use the awesome VoIP now built-in feature in my Axim !! I looked at Vonage and Gizmo but still not convinced what to use. I prefer minutes tarification over monthly plans.
Would you guys like to share your SIP provider here to help the community ?
Thanks a lot makuu for the ROM and everyone else who's contributing to this site !
Hi Makuu,
Are you using the new ramdisk provided by AMV (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382944) or the old one linked to by menneisyys? The new one provided by AMV doesn't use dirver memory and it's compiled for windows mobile 6.0.
bub
Thanks makuu, lets try
I would like to thank Makuu for sharing his files with us.I do understand it is a personal rom.
Flashed my X51v last night, I was using makuu's last pure rom which I like very much after I change to broadcomm bluetooth.
I have some comments on this rom....
Clicking the clock or calendar doesnt bring up anything (i never used that proggy before but shouldn't it bring up clock or calendar?)
Also in settings removing the other two clocks doesnt do anything ( i assume because the proggy is in rom,it doesnt save any changes?)
I only have 24megs free ram after...I wont be able to run much programs...any way to squeeze any more ram?
Like the user a few above me, any Sip Void providers to share ? I been researching and see a few, all cost money ,lol.
I am in the USA
I am also Skype user, I havent installed it yet but I assume it will work together as the SIP type is using the PDA's phone part.
Thank you for this rom,I actually havent tried bluetooth or much else yet,I am looking for Sip provider to see if its worth losing all that ram (nice feature tho to make it work like a smartphone)
I may just flash back to the old rom I was using.
You should have more than 30 Mo after reset. If you have less it might be because you mounted a ramdisk.
I don't know in North America but here in France, we get SIP account from our Internet Provider. From my IP, I get Internet, TV and land line phone. With my land line I have free call to 70 land line countries in the world that include mostly Europe, North &South America and main Asia Pacific. I can use my axim to connect to my voip account so I can call free to the same regions. I have two sip profiles, one than I use from free hot spot, and an other one that connect via WPA and certificate + password that can connect to any Wifi modem from the same IP provider that are within the range of my axim via wifi. This rom make it autoconnect in any of those two cases using the stronger wifi signal.

Hi Makuu,
Are you using the new ramdisk provided by AMV (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382944) or the old one linked to by menneisyys? The new one provided by AMV doesn't use dirver memory and it's compiled for windows mobile 6.0.

I have used the kitchen provided by Football.
About the ramdisk, I have used the old one and built the rom around so the ramdisk will vanish after a reset. I think I tried the new one but didn't really saw the benefits, and I am not sure it would disappear after a reset.

Even normal version NdriveV3 it´s much better then Tomtom it.s optimazed for HD also full touch and landscape support
Too bad it doesn't have maps for Australia.
By the way, funny naming system.
NDrive Go and NDrive Touch XL, get creative.
Does it run smooth without any lag or delay?
Just took a test drive with map for Germany and German voice, no noticeable lag. GPS fix was really fast, and portrait and landscape modes indeed run smooth. Only "complaint" I would have that German voice is not a native speaker, so "Anna" sounds a little bit...well, like a Portuguese girl... Great selection of available maps, including more exotic (from a German view) countries like from Asia and Africa. Western Europe map collection has 2.7G, so should provide nice detail for some metro cities.
... and the price is really nice ! I've bought it yesterday ! I'll try to see how to add poi and speedcams ...
User manual is here:
http://dontknowme.at/http://www.ndriveweb.com/downloads/file/55/
But is missing the section where data import/export of Alerts (speedcams I guess) and Favourites (POI) is explained...work in progress, or has someone got an updated version?

Software looks good so not having a go at that but I run the HD version copilot 7 and that also works fine in landscape without altering files, just doesn't have auto rotation built in.
I'm using the Ndrive V 3.4.19 Real Navigation (updated yesterday), and just for Portugal I need 7Gb for the imaging
Love the software, stopped using IGO8 and TomTom , but I do get tiny bit of Lag, ( does not compromise driving), not Ndrive fault, It's and HTC HD characteristic
Thanks for your input. So the 3D photo maps available here http://www.ndriveweb.com/products/product/40/ work also on the HD? Since WinMobile is not yet in the list of compatible 3D systems.
cool thanks
I buy it
Will give you feedback asa I installed it...
What is nice also that there is maps for Brazil
thanks for research
Not tested (since I have the full) but maybe this is a working demo version (300 megs):

Which zipped voices do you have in ndrive\voices ? Because choosing a voice also seems to install the language.
hi all,
i tried so many wm6.5 roms, but always have problems to run tomtom 7.915 smoothy. The moovement in navigation is lagging and tomtom reacts very slow. Also with the new wm6.5 rom from tomme45i with more than 27mb when starting tomtom the navigation is still lagging.
Can someone confirm this? Is there an solution for this problem?
thanks alot,
John
I didn't notice any lagging. Using the chanvi 21900 build with TomTom 7.915.
I do have chainfire's GFXBoost installed (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=509704)
Did speed up my trinity
Oh, and also changed some dll that are used to access storage card.
Only problem is that tomtom is killed when minimized no matter if it is excluded in taskmanager or not.
Arjan
No Lag for me on Chanvi, or Tomme45i 23017. TomTom 795.9196 Runs about as quick as my TomTom Rider, except for finding satellites the first time.
It depends on how many POI are displayed during navigation.
Try to disable some and check if it lag.
This already happens to me in the past because all of my POI were selected to display during navigation.
thanks, i will try and report later
i disabled some POIs and now tomtom works good.
But anyway i think that wm6.1 is better for tomtom, because under wm6.1 i can able much more POIs without lagging...
But WM6.5 has it's advantage, especially the Rom from tomme45i. So i stay with wm6.5 and disable some POIs

Using Advanced Config Tool you can try to change the Glyph Cache parameter.
But as you say the problem may be because of choosing lots of POIs...

Does this tool really works with Trinity? someone else tried this tool?
Whilst we are on the subject, is anyone here in the UK using Tomtom 7.915?

What is the best* GPS Software that I can use on my Blackstone with Xannytech's ROMs... I have a 1.8 ROM now but i will gonna upgrade it soon...so, what do you suggest me ?
I leave in Roumania, and I need a GPS software that doesn't require an Internet Connection (I have Wi-Fi at home, but that's it)
Thank you all
*Spec. By best I mean, the fastest, the most recent one and the most accurate....
NoniGPSPlot
Not sure what you want to do with your GPS, but try this one:
NoniGPSPlot
http://aeguerre.free.fr/Public/PocketPC/NoniGPSPlot/EN/index.php
The program looks a bit out-dated, but it's the best I've seen so far. It is used to draw (plot) your track on a map, which can be exported to kml for use in Google Earth for instance.
For you this might be a good choice, the developer made a program to download the road or satellite-maps to your PC, to use the maps offline on your mobile. Might be what you're looking for.
Don't hesitate to buy the full version, it's totally worth it
Igo8 is the best for Romania,no need wifi or gprs, only gps connection,or try Navigon 7.3.Me: Xannitech's 1.9 and Igo8 Adrianx package.
Igo 8 e cel mai bun pentru Romania si harta cea m-ai completa,nu ai nevoie de internet sau Navigon 7.3.Eu folosesc rom Xannytech's 1.9 si Igo8 pachetu Adrianx
TomTom has been my go-to GPS for all ROMs. It does a great job with out frying your devices memory.
