Downgrade error 150 (from WM5 > WM2003) Need some HELP pl - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Okay,
I installed WM5 with no problem, but as a lot of my aps do not work on it, I am now trying to go back to Window 2003.
I have done all the needed stuff as told in the "How to Downgrade a WM5 Rom' (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Downgrade_WM5), but when I get at step 7, and run the 'MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe' (downloaded from the howto site) I get the following error:
Error 150: Rom Upgrade utility error
This ROM Upgrade Utility does not design for your device.
Please get proper ROM Upgrade Utility and try again!
Click to collapse
(the 'MaUpgradeUt 'Device Software Update Utility - R1000 D1001' does also NOT show any info about the Device CE image version)
The ROM that I am trying to use is the same version as I was using before the WM5 update!
Anyone here who can help me with this error?

Nevermind... After rebooting the main pc, I got it to work.

"Un-brick" Imate JasJar After Failed ROM Update

First time post ...
I recently downloaded the 1.13.53 WWE ROM update from the Imate site and attempted to install it on my JasJar. The update failed leaving my JasJar in boot loader mode. No reset method seemed to work to bring it back up. Subsequent attempts to load the ROM update gave me the dreaded "Country Code" error. Here are the steps I followed to get the ROM update to succeed:
1. Uninstalled ActiveSync 4.0 and installed ActiveSync 4.1 as downloaded from XDA FTP site. Disabled firewall and Anti-virus. Rebooted machine. I am not sure whether this step was neccessary or not but noted that others had some success with this. At this point I was still getting the country code error when trying to install ther update.
2. Run the update but once you get to the first screen that asks you if you want to proceed, switch to the Windows file system using Explorer and set the current directory to your TEMP directory. If you are not sure where this is, open a command prompt (Start - Run - CMD - OK) and type SET. This will display environment variables. Look for the one called TEMP - that is where you want to go.
3. Search for a file called ROMUpgradeUT.exe or RUU.conf anywhere in the TEMP directory or its subdirectories. When you find the correct directory, copy the files to a new location.
4. In the new location, edit the RUU.conf file and add the following text at the end of the file:
[CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1
5. Save the file and then run ROMUpgradeUT.exe
At this point I was able to get past the country code error and the update began. The radio upgrade was the first component and it took the most time (about 10-15 minutes). The other 2 components upgraded the extended ROM and the OS but only took about 5 minutes each.
After getting the completion message on my PC I also noted a "100% complete" message on the JasJar screen. After a hard reset (soft keys and reset) the JasJar came up with the upgraded ROM in place and I was REALLY HAPPY!
I don't know if this will work for anyone else - use at your own risk but I wanted to share what has worked for me.
BTW - many thanks to all the previous posters who left "breadcrumbs" for me to follow in getting my JasJar back. This community is SUPERB!
Thanks again.

Error upgrading to TTN5.21

Trying to upgrade to TTN5.21 I get the following error:
Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions.
Anyone have any ideas how I can overcome this?
Thanks.
are you running the cabs directly on your device?
No, I don't have the cab. I'm running the upgrade .exe that I downloaded from htcclub.
What version tomtom have you managed to get running if any.
I had TTN5 program installed on my uni. To upgrade it I just swaped the tomtom.exe file from my uni for a tomtom.exe that was version 5.21.

Error SPL Bootloader version

I am trying to upgrade my Tytn to WM6. I have installed the latest version of SPL (using MrVanX's upgrade guide). When I try and install the laterst Radio version, I get the following error message "Error, unknown version! You should pick SSPL". I am connected via ActiveSync, and the connection is good, so I don't understand why I am getting this error. Can someone please let me know if they understand this. Thanks
it means you should pick 'FORCE USING SSPL' in the rom update utility .. sheesh
the new RUU wrapper should have an option to pick the new spl7 so just select that one this is not rocket science stuff people

how do I downgrade my 2750?

I have PDAVIET rom on my 2750 - version 5.2.00H on the boot rom.
I want to go back to the HP version of Windows 2003. So, I unpack the files from HP (SP29856 - fresh download from HP), perform a clean reset of the 2750 and start the "downgrade".
When it starts transferring the data, what I see on the Ipaq is a new window called FUU with "Hello World" right in the middle. The upgrade seems to proceed OK - but the system stays on WM6.
So, what is going on? Where is this FUU coming from and why isn't my Ipaq being put into boot mode?
Any help appreciated
I get exactly the same thing as Alan trying to downgrade my hx2795 using the same ROM (SP29856.exe) from HP. Yeah I know the ROM is for the 2750 but the hardware specs look very similar between the 2750 and the 2795 so I was hoping I could use the ROM to downgrade from WM5 to PPC2003.
The rompaq is for all versions of the HX2000 series so it is designed for us. Something else is going on which we don't understand. Anyone elso got any clues?

After the update did you perform a clean reset? Cause when I downgrade to wm5 from wm6 I mention that nothing seems to change(the device boots in wm6) until I perform a clean reset.
I have done many upgrades on both my 4700's and my 2750. Each time, whether it is using the HP method, or Chris's bootloader program, the Ipaq ends up in bootloader mode before the upgrade starts.
On this occasion, it didn't. I got a program called FUU starting up - and I could access the today screen etc while the flashing was apparently working (the HP utility was gayly counting up the percent numbers). At the end of it, Activesync happily reconnected to my old profile.
I did also try a hard reset - but that still came up with WM6 as the base O/S.
Since BOOTLOADER itself will not work either, I think the latest rom upgrade on there has screwed something up - not sure what, why or how.
Alan
Yep, what Alan said. The HP update utility apparently thought it was updating the device but the device was just showing the FUU "Hello World" window. And during the alleged update I can go to the Today screen and access my programs.
If I hadn't downloaded this directly from HP I would think this was a joke.
I am able to re-flash WM5.0 to my hx2795 using sp33752.exe downloaded from HP. Everything works as expected, the HP utility puts my 2795 into bootloader mode before flashing the device.
I cannot find sp33752 - can you give me a pointer?
Thanks
Alan
Hmm... I just tried searching for sp33752.exe on HP's support & drivers webpage and it found it. Otherwise try:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...x=sp33752.exe&pc=0&sc=1&nh=10&rf=0&lkc=1&lk=1
Any luck with downgrading to PPC2003?
Many thanks - I'll try that sometime today and see what happens.
Alan
downgrade
Hi,
I'm trying to do the same. From some searching around I found out that what you need to do is use the WWE-hx2000_PPC03_downgrade.exe program which comes with the WM2003 upgrade CD.
I don't have the cd, and I have problems with P2P (it's avail both on torrent and ed2k), so if you get that file, and it works for you it'd be wonderful if you can upload it to rapidshare or something and post a reply here.
Good luck and cheers
I tried that SP - get the error "Could not initialise the device".
My Ipaq is in the cradle and activesynced to my PC.
So, it looks like i am stuck with this WM6 version. Something about it has stopped any form of upgrade or downgrade.
Alan
So, next thing I tried is to copy the FUU.EXE file to the older SP directory and run that. But all that does is appear to download the nbf file, but the IPAQ hasn't gone into bootloader mode, so nothing happens.
I think what I am missing is why we need these files (RUUClientdriver.dll, FUU.EXE etc) and what changes in each of the OS upgrades to require a different version. Any one know these sorts of answers?
Alan
success!
I found the file (http://rapidshare.com/files/17084671/WWE-hx2000_PPC03_downgrade.exe) and succeeded to downgrade to 2003.
I had to reset to bootloader mode (contacts+itask buttons+reset -> connect to cradle -> calender button*) and then run the hpRUU.exe from extracted directory (c:\ipaq\hx2000) and it works like a charm.
hope it helps. g'luck
(* contacts - 2nd from left, itask - 4th, calendar - 1st.)
That seems to be doing something. I put it into bootloader mode and it's flashing. 66% through and the bar on the Ipaq agrees.
Success!
Worked for me too! Thank you spring777. Now I can run PPC2003, WM5 or WM6 on my hx2795. This is such an awesome forum.

[SOLVED][HELP]Dead PDA - please help

I had a small problem:
I want to upgrade ROM from 1.35.401.3 to 1.93.401.2...
I download the official .exe from HTC:
Diamond-QMR-RUU_Diamond_HTC_Europe_1.93.401.2_Radio_Signed_Dia mond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship
using the S/N from the back of my PDA
... it work till 34%, then it appears UPDATE ERROR:284
"ERROR [262, 276, 284, 302] : UPDATE ERROR
This error occurs during the CE ROM code upgrade process.
Solution: If this happens, you can just soft-reset the device and run RUU again. The update process will then continue.
Note: At this stage, the Wince is destroyed; instead, it is in upgrade mode."
What do you recommend to do?
I repeated the process 5 or 6 time, the same stop, at 34% and even recovery is useless
Please help...
there are a couple of things you can try...
1st off, put the phone in bootloader mode (hold "volume down" button and press reset with pen) then flash using a windows XP machine with no running services such as Anti Virus/firewall etc.
if not, try hard SPL developers edition, and then flashing it...

That would be impossible in bootloader mode using the current toolchain.
The Hard SPL uses a soft SPL that has to be loaded into RAM from within Win CE.
This Soft SPL forces the device to think that it's CID unlocked, and letting the actual Hard SPL flash to the device.
Maybe a hard reset would help:

Good luck to you friend.
May be the file u have is corruped, try another ROM!!
Which OS did you use to upgrade from?
Have you tried to use a PC with XP (proffesional) with activesync 4.5 installed?
if all fails:
-kill wcecomm.exe on the PC (with taskmanager) (or disable activesync)
-put Diamond into bootloader..
-Run the official RUU again.
(worked for me on other devices too.. )
All is not lost..

Hi gabib77.
As long as you can get the coloured bootloader screen all is not lost, you can still flash your Diamond in the bootloader mode, i.e run the rom update from your PC as normal.
I would first suggest you reflash back to the original rom, try here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399680, I am not sure what the "QMR" info you stated on the upgrade rom means, but the second link from the HTC Diamond ROM's List is for the WWE version (1.35.401.3 WWE)
If you cannot flash your Diamond in bootloader mode, then try a hard reset first as mentioned on this thread first.
If you all goes ok then go to http://modmydiamond.info/ for more info on flashing.
Good luck.
I solved the problem... my problem happened because I try to upgrade from 1.35.401.3 to 1.93.401.2...
I put the official 1.37.401.2, then I upgraded to 1.93.401.2 WWE and everything is perfect now...
Thanks everyone for the help
