Find out what process to kill for BT to work - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Since I've installed Rom 1.40, I've literally never been able to use Bluetooth without doing two consequtive soft resets. Bad case of "insufficient driver memory" -- I don't know if anybody else has it that bad? I've read all the posts about this and nothing seems to help in my case (BA with Rom 1.40, BT 3900, NOT running SPB Pocket plus).
Anyway, I did a routine pc backup just now with Sprite, which kills all processes first. When the backup is complete, it always prompts to perform a soft reset (in order to resume all processes that are normally loaded at startup, I guess). I was wondering what would happen if I didn't do this so I pressed cancel. Then I tried to turn on Bluetooth -- and voilĂ , it worked.
Ok, guess it's pretty logical, anyone could have figured out that some running process must cause the "insufficient driver memory" error. But I'd like to examine this further and find out which process exactly, hoping I might one day be able to use Bluetooth by killing that process (if it's nothing vital, off course) instead of doing my usual two soft resets.
So my question is: does anyone know of an application that can show and kill running processes (more selectively than Sprite Backup does), and that isn't too large?

This is a great question.
Ever since 1.40 has been installed, I feel like my SX-66 just "isn't the same" anymore.
I am not sure if it has to do with the 1.40 upgrade, or another app I installed, but I tell you...
I need to suspend the unit and turn it back on to get Wi-Fi to work sometimes.
I need soft-resets for the BT driver to work...
I'll often put it in the cradle and activesync starts and then stops right away...
(And plus I am stuck with the buzzing oscillator, too).
This has gone from my #1 favorite PPC in the world, to something that is getting more and more annoying.
I wonder how things would have been if I left the OLD firmware, the OLD EXT-ROM, and the OLD Radio ROM, right out of the box...
Strange...
Maybe a new ROM will come out soon enough that solves all these problems.
I do hope someone responds to this thread.
It would be great if we could find out which process is preventing the BT radio from working. (Although, maybe it's just the number of processes, and/or the memory used....)
I am going to try allocating more program memory and see what happens...

Thanks for your answer. Problems here, apart from Bluetooth:
WiFi -- Often can't turn it on. This is an known problem on the forum. My workaround: if I turn it on and off immediately after a soft reset, before I do anything else, it generally works fine when I need it later. Otherwise, I have to soft reset again.
Active Sync -- Sometimes slow, sometimes connects and disconnects again, sometimes does nothing at all. Also, there's a growing number of stored e-mail messages that get sync'ed almost every time, even though nothing's changed. Other than that, it usually works ok.
Whistling screen -- NO, fortunately this hasn't happened to me yet. I hope I stay safe, because from what I've read it's a pain... :?
I remember I had some WiFi and BT problems before I installed 1.40, and besides I really really want Media Player 10 so downgrading is not an option...
Well, even if the problem is the number of running processes rather than a specific one, I still hope we'll be able to kill some non-vital ones to free up driver memory...
This morning, I tried PHM Task Manager 0.1 which allows you to view running processes and, theoretically, end them, but every process I tried to end just stayed right where it was (even after refreshing the screen)!? Are there any other task managers that can do this? Anyone?
Please report if you had any luck after allocating more memory. Although I read somewhere that the amount of memory for loading drivers is limited by default, and that allocating more overall working memory doesn't help... I've tried it myself, allocating as much memory as I could (probably about 40-50 MB free program memory), but still had the "insufficient memory" issue with Bluetooth.

A way to get bluetooth working everytime
It might not be the easiest way to get your bluetooth working but it does work everytime. First thing you do is set your phone to flight mode. After that then you perform a soft reset. When you are back up then turn on your bluetooth. After your bluetooth is on then you can turn the phone back on again. Click on your signal icon at the top of the screen and choose settings. It will ask you if you want to turn the phone on. Choose yes and for me I have to do this twice before the phone comes back on. After that it will work everytime I reset until I turn off bluetooth. Hope this helps

Twice ?

Activesync conflics with McShield.exe and so runs painfully slowly.
This is the active virus scan part of McAfee Antivirus. If you are using McAfee, before you dock your BA, right click the McAfee icon in your system tray and disable virus scan.
Hope that helps.

I have a Cingular SX66. No ROM upgrades yet. I have experienced similar problems and have been able to conclusively trace mine to Goodlink. This app is a necessary evil on my (corporate) device. This hog takes 6+ MB to run, more than 3 times any other program I have. If people think MS VoiceCommand is crappy programming (although I love it), then you ought to load Goodlink on and watch it muck up the works. As soon as I kill Goodlink.exe with MemMaid (great app by the way) bluetooth has no problems.

How many times do you have to soft reset per day in average?

I found myself having to soft reset to get the phone back to working order like 3 or 4 times a day... Does this seem normal to all of you?
I had to soft reset mostly due to insuifficent memories when starting BT, 3rd party keyboard etc. And this is with all apps closed. I guess there must be a easier way to kill all running background apps to release memory instead of soft reset. Anyone know a good program that can do that?
The strange part is I have more than 35mb of program memory most of the time when I get the insufficent memory message...
ROM version: 1.22.00 WWE
Radio version: 1.06.02
Protocol version: 1337.38
ExtROM version: 1.12.925 WWE Cooked
I think my average is 2-3 soft resets a day. Mainly when the system becomes unresponsive and/or BT/WIFI stops working. But I had the same issue with my old HP 5455, too. So I guess it is rather a Microsoft PocketPC OS problem...
I very rarely have to soft reset my device, maybe once or twice a month at most and have never seen the insufficient memory warning despite fairly intensive usage.
I use the Omega One Battery Pack Pro software which includes a clever little tool that allows you to close down programs from the top program bar, or even reconfigure the device so that programs close down completely when you tap the X, thus freeing up the program memory.
About once a week or so, and usually not because of a hang but 'just in case'.
I also use BatteryPack Plus. Very useful, straightforward to use and good looking. Adds functionality that should have been part of the OS in the first place.
mate, i do a soft reset around once every 2 weeks. i read in this forum that doing soft resets is actually good for the unit. clears up memory or sort of cleans up the programs. something like doing a reboot for your laptop...or something like going to the loo after drinking a couple o'pints for terminating running programs; you may want to install third-party apps which allow you to shutdown progs from either the task bar or the today screen. example; i still use systeminfo; it displays my battery (in %), the memory usage and the running apps. the third one allows you to switch progs, shut down an app or shut em all down. others use apps which allow you to shut down progs from the task bar; reminds of the little thunderbolt icon on the task bar....what was that app again...
cheers
Mine gets soft reset every Friday after I backup with sprite. Other than that, only if I install a program or change a setting that says "You must soft reset in order for this change to take effect".
I had to hard-reset a few days after I got it (too much messing around, too little knowledge!) but since then, I can't remember having to reset hard or soft due to an error. And that would be about two months now.
Try looking in this post for an program closing app - http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=16199.
I recommend PocketNav (which I post at the above link). It's small and ever so easy to use!
Hope this helps!

I do have Battery Pro, but since there're just too much stuffs on my Today's desktop already, I only have the batt info running. My IIs came with a program that let you close down the running apps already and I've been doing that. But still, I'm just wondering how BA is handling memories. Like I said in my original post, I always maintain no less that 35Mb of program and storage memory each, I just don't understand how is it am I running out of memories... Or is it another type of memory that I need to free up??
It might be the Driver memory, have read in some other forums that there's a portion of memory reserved for drivers and that you can get a warning about THAT memory even though there is NO way to monitor it!! Resetting helps in these scenarios so it might be that.
If you're having issues specifically around bluetooth what build of bluetooth are you running? Anything less than build 3500 is reportedly unstable and gives this error a lot, I saw this error several times in the first few days, was resetting every couple of hours, but having applied the build 3500 patch I've HAD to reset twice in 3 weeks... once because the whole thing seemed to lock up, no buttons/screen would work (not even off!) reboot fixed, and once because I was having issues with an SD card, and resetting seemed to make it see it ok.
If you need the BT patch I have a copy, send me a PM
Thanks Sazoo, but I have 3500 already I don't know why, maybe it's because of some of the 3rd party software I've installed is draining memories... I still get the driver memory error a lot even with 3500 stack.
What exactly is driver memory anyway? Any program to free up driver memory?
Bout twice per day as Bluetooth requires this every so often Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Hmm.... My problem seems to be the M$ Voice Commander... As suggested in another forum, I removed it and everything runs twice as fast... But I really missed the voice functions now
Gazza, I know what you mean. If my Bluetooth loses connection, I then have to soft reset the PDA for it to find the connection again. Pain in the bum!
No sound during calls
I have to reset every day. For some strange reason my speaker doesn't work anymore during phonecalls after during some other applications. Until now I can only solve it by a reset.
If anybody has a clue on how to fix this problem in any other way. Please let me know.
Until Friday I had never had to reset it, as far as I can remember. Then I tried a BT car mounted handsfree from MTU. (Before that I had never even turned on BT, I wouldn't use it for anything else than a handsfree after my experience with other PPCs). Since that my microphone has stopped working twice, the unit complains just about avery second time I turn it on that the storage card isn't formatted (which it is), all in all it drives me crazy! I need to do a hard reset tomorrow to clear up all this. Unfortunately I have been sloppy with backups since the last hard reset. That was for the latest firmware upgrade, and I found out that I had to do a new install since a restore reverted the WLAN driver updates (so that was as much of a software update as a firmware update).
I have to soft-reset 2 or 3 times a day.
I don't use Blue-tooth.
T
Once a week max, but used to have that prob wit BT stack being out of mem. fix was to upgrade to new rom from 02 and remove MS Voice Command.
02 ROM:
Rom Version 1.31.00 WWE
ROM date 12/13/04
Radio version 1.06.00
Protocol version 1337.38
ExtROM version 1.31.139 WWE
MS Voice command:
this app eats memory and each component (i.e. voice dail, media play, app launch) takes up more. It's madnes but after looking at process usage it's clear as day.
Depending on how much I use it, but about every 7 minutes of PDA use it freezes, or roughly every 5th app I open will lock up.
If I haven't recieved a phonecall/message for an hour and a half it's usually an indicator that the radio part is not working and requires a soft reset.
Average 6 - 7 times a day as standard. With 'connections' removed from startup perhaps 5 - 6.
I find I'm resetting twice a day on average. Lately it's been because the phone just stops responding or the screen refuses to come out of its sleep after being switched "off" via the button... and then finding out that I missed several phone calls because the phone has been sitting in a crashed state! Very frustrating.
I used to own an iPaq 3630 and NEVER had to reset except when installing software that required a reset... and that was running PPC2000 and 2002.
when i got my BA, i had to soft reset 6 times a day from day 1. i downgraded to the o2 rom before the newest one i had, then i never had to soft reset after that, now i upgraded to imate 1.40rom and i havenmt needed to soft reset sincve then either.

Recent trouble turning power on...must soft reset to access device sometimes

I am using WM6 Black Edition 2.0 ROM and have been since the 12th of April. I don't know what the cause is since I have not changed any settings or added programs since the initial setup on the 12th.
Basically, sometimes when I hit the power button to turn the phone on, nothing happens. In fact, the phone doesn't even ring in this situation, thus I miss all calls and messages. The ONLY way I have found to fix this is to soft reset the device. It happens about one or two times per day now but did not happen at all for the first few weeks with this ROM.
I searched under "power on", "turn on", "power issue", and one or two other terms but didn't find much of anything related.
This has happened to me on occasion with various ROMs. I can only say that I have not experienced it with Dutty's v2, while running the same programs that I have always run. I install Egress, SBSH Pocket Weather, SBSH iLauncher, SBSH Pocket Breeze, MemMaid, AEButton Plus, numerous games, PIE Plus, and a few others that I can't remember off hand. The only fix is to find a ROM that allows you to run your platform without the need to soft reset. I searched for answers to this many times. It is often blamed on some application that I then removed only to suffer the same fate later in abscencia. Good luck with it but I think the fix will be hard to find.
@pinhead
aadadams is correct. Your screen is probably locking due to an APP running. I use to have this problem with select today plugins. Also some programs which where stored on the memory card. You should try to isolate all your software to check which one is causing the problems.
Do you have your email to automatically check? If so is the account IMAP?

8525 needing a reset after going into standby to wake up again?

Hello,
First and foremost I should note that I tried searching the forums but I was not entirely sure what to search for. I tried a few different queries and they yielded negligible results for my issue. Now, onto my issue:
8525 with wm6 black 3.01
I have my 8525/hermes/tytn/etc/ set to turn the device off after 3 minutes of inactivity in order to preserve battery life. Sometimes, this poses no issues and I can just hit the power button to turn it back on when I need to. Other times however, and perhaps more frequent, I press the power button and nothing happens. Try as I might and regardless of how many times I press the damned button, it will not turn on. I have to use my stylus to do a soft reset in order to have my phone back in operation. Needless to say, this has gotten very annoying. I have since turned that feature off but now my battery drains far too quickly.
Is this a known issue or has anyone experienced similar issues? If so, is there a fix for this? If not, would ATT accept my phone for a warranty exchange with this greymarket software on it? If not, can I just flash it with an official ATT image and then send it in? Thanks.
It's called Sleep of Death... SOD... I had it and I flashed the official AT&T rom and havent had it since.
thanks.. looking into it!
How many apps do you have running. Where are they installed also. I currently run Black Majik, and NEVER have the SoD, or soft reset, so I think it's the stuff you put in your device that may be causing this. Flashing a new ROM wont always solve this, since you and I have the same phone, I think it's what you put in that may cause this.

running? usually just whatever program I have opened since I have it set up to completely escape the program when I X out. As far as where things are installed, everything is installed on my device sans iGo.. However, this issue arised prior to iGo being put on my SD card.
Try this. After a hard reset, load one app to your device, let it sit, test it, and then do another. take your time. See if something you load is causing this. I did a HR on mine cause I had tons of crap on there, loaded stuff slowly and noticed the ButtonFlo CAB is what screwed my ROM from working good, so got rid of it. Since then, its awesome.
Leave the Black and go with JJ's Majik. Is the only ROM to date that hasn't SOD'ed me ... and I run the same apps, the same way, on all the ROM's.
http://wmblack.info/
is this so? i'm going to try at&t's wm6 for a bit, see howt aht works..
Don't belive so
I read a lot of threads regarding the problem, i tried AT&T and same problem, others had it with black, now i am having it with latest LVSW, may be a software problem, i had it using SPB WEATHER and SPB TIME, i hard reset install all but them, worked fine for two days, installed TWEAK2K2, problem came back, now trying without TWEAK2K2, but i doubt problem can be solved
My Opinion
been running through threads all over, just found out that there is no solution, because when a program pushes the unit to wake up from standby it freezes, this program can be weather, alarm, mail, active sync, and even a CALL can cause this, so it's a permanent bug in wm6 and PPC :-(

Anyones phone freezing after sleep mode?

I noticed this after I set up direct push email. Wondering if anyone else is having the same issue.
BTW I'm using the Premier Plus Rom and Mail 2 Web free push service
mine is, dont know why but just started recently after re flashing to artemies love rom 4.1.
Sometimes it shuts down when it wants to, freezes when it wants to and received sms notification dont work even after you have set it in the phone settings.
I reckon didnt flash properly so i am going to do it again. I hate flashing.

Thanx for replying but I think I've narrowed it down to a storage card issue. i noticed that it woud freeze for abouta full minute when I had a particular program open that I run from the storage card. I moved it to the Device memory and today it still froze, but I could at least turn the device on and off.
Now that I think about it, I noticed this freezing after i reflashed to the Premium Plus ROM with SDHC support. I upgraded from a 2GB Card to a 4GB Card. So it could be the SDHC drivers or just the card itself. I'm going to switch back to the 2GB card for a few days to see if it happens again.
That's as far as I'll gotten. These observations were made after a hard reset.
And I know what you mean about reflashing. You hare to reinstall everything. But it's good to do at least once a year.

I have very similar issues on mine.
I had the Oops v1.0 on it, then thought it had been a while since I last flashed, and perhaps that was the reason it froze often no logical reason to think this ! I KNOW).
So I flashed it with another ROM, and it does exactly the same. I have searched on this forum and seen some HTC do this as well.
UPDATE:
I have now narrowed it down to this:
I discovered that if I restart my Atremis and use it as normal or leave it on a stable table or side bed, it works OK, but if I slip it into my pocket for a minute it freezes....or if I place it in the same space/place/pocket/bag with my BB Pearl it just freezes....AMAZING !
I will be very stunned...yes stunned if their any solution to this...
Feel free to stun me !
I dont have any input on the issues you guys are having but I think i solved my own problem. I moved two programs from the storage card to the main memory and it hasnt come back. Actually, I think it was just the 2nd program.
I'm using an older ROM though: O2 Premium Plus by Meschle (now retired). I've stuck with this ROM because it's been the most stable for me.

Hello,
first of all when you experience any kind of freezing, run a full scandisk in Pocket Mechanic, then Check Notification queue in the same app.
Also check Start - settings - system - Key lock , make sure that you select "Lock all buttons except power" (first option). Restart your Artemis and try if the problem happens again.
Well it's been a week and I haven't had the freeze come back after I moved a couple programs from my storage card to my device. Both were programs with an application (small) and a huge database on the storage card (Oxford Spanish Dictionary & iSilo data base). I noticed that I always got the freeze when one or both of these applications was running.
So, of course, the data base info is still on the storage card but the applications are saved under Windows/Programs. No more freezes. And when I mentioned freeze, I ment that the phone would be extremely slow to respond to inputs. I would wait about 30 to 60 seconds for it to respond. If I pushed the power button 3 or 4 times, like a minute later I would get the screen flashing on and off so it's registering the commands. I wasn't sure if this was the same type of freezing that others were experiencing.
I'm thinking it has something to do with the card or the drivers for the SDHC. I never had this problem without the SDHC support and my 2GB card. Just FYI

As funny as it may sound.
I did the above and noticed a few days after, that the freezing is now reduced....still happens from time to time, though not as frequently as it used to...
What is the logic?
I assumed it was due to my frequent ROMing of my Atremis....guess patience has now paid off, but seriously and technically, I would want to be able to explain what is happening !
I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.
The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.
Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.

Am I the only one who has touch-screen problems with the vogue on/off? Seriously..

I had one before, dropped it a few times.. I wrote it off as that being why, well I just got a replacement one sent.. haven't dropped it once, it's been here only about 2 weeks
Randomly sometimes it won't respond to almost anything.. I'll be trying to slide the screen, it either won't at all or will go halfway like I barely touched it. I'll try clicking on things, programs, start, whatever... it'll not respond at all, I end up having to press with way more pressure than I should have to, way more.
Then sometimes without even a reset it'll start working just about normally again.. but that's rarely, usually I'll soft reset or pull the battery for a second and then it'll be fine.. for days even.. then I'll run into it again..
I noticed 2-3 times it was because I had **** updating at the time (motweets) or was receiving email.. but I've since made everything manual regarding email, and motweets updates once every 15 minutes and the amount of tweets is limited so it's not a lot..
Still, I run into this problem, and I've made sure it wasn't a program updating but I can't think of what else would make this happen, am I the only one??
Is it because there's a way to clear cache on internets and other programs and I have no idea how? (I fully close them, that's not the problem, I know my Vogue I just can't figure this out an it seems nobody else has this problem).. Not to mention I have my internet cache's directed to my storage card so as to keep my phone memory as free'd up as possible
If anyone can help..
mine is unresponsive sometimes and i have to tap on the back of the phone to get to work again. i thinks its going out soon
That's what I thought about my old one, I figured I had dropped it to much.. because I did lol but now I got a new one 2 weeks old and I'm running into the SAME problems.. I'm assuming I must be doing something wrong with how I've got **** set-up

j18yo i think that your problem might be that to many programs run when you start your vogue that happened to me before and i hated it but then i heard of a program named "Space Reclaimer" FREE and it made my vogue much more responsive because the program stops any programs that start when you turn on your vogue or any windows mobile phone
I have the same problem usually under the same conditions. Mostly happens in the morning after the device has been off. Works fine for a few seconds then stops responding correctly i.e., the D-Pad stops scrolling correctly with a lag on touch response. I use CleanRAM and it still doesn't fix the prob once it occurs. Sometimes when I run CleanRAM it will occur. I've tried putting biotouch.exe and everyting BUT the kernel processes in the exceptions list and a Level 1 clean. Hard reset yesterday and haven't had the problem yet. If it continues to work, I'll post my settings.
BTW, I'm on a stock 6.1 ROM with a few apps.

What ROM are you running? I asume that wehn your new device came you loaded it the same as the old one. It has to be something with the ROM you are runnning or a problem with a program causing your issue.
My phone would do this periodically too, with Vin's latest ROMs. I turned off Manila and am running Titanium now. Interestingly - no lags when unlocking since. I'll keep Titanium on for some time to see if that makes it go away. I had an issue with both his current v2 and v4 (which I am running now).
Ive had to replace my screen twice and the whole phone once because of touch screen problems. Thank God for the insurance.
Ah yes... to what OP mentioned:
I do not beleive it is a more pressure thing. I do not think it is more pressure that is required but rather that the phone is non responsive. If you are unlocking and typing a PIN, it takes the PIN and all but it takes perhaps one digit every 5 seconds. That's my experience anyway. So it is just slower, as if something was consuming the CPU and UI is not responsive.

THIS..
It has to be the problem.. I have CleanRAM run every 12 hours or 6 hours because I figured it would help.. lol but now your saying sometimes it happens WHEN you run cleanRAM.. Im assuming it does something, or erases something it shouldnt?
This is like the 1 sole thing I have run on a schedule, I've turned off my email and everything to manual, I went into my startup folder and there was about 4-5 things I didn't need which made the battery 100% better than it was in terms of how long it lasts.. and I set-up this CleanRAM schedule on my last phone I THINK I forgot but I do know as soon as I got this 1 going I did it and I'm bout to delete the program completely and see if it'll help, I have speedbooster too which does a cleanup too I'm curious if it would have the same result..
I'll let everyone know if this ended up being my problem incase anyones in the exact same boat with the same apps
PS: I was doing level 3 cleans

Update: I don't think CR erases things as much as it kills processes that won't restart. Thru trial and error, I've adjusted my CleanRAM settings to where I haven't had the problem for a couple of days. I'm able to do a Level 3 cleans on a once a night schedule and during the day if need be. In settings, I have it to close all apps, launch startup progs, and display today screen. I have no exceptions listed for either running progs or startup progs. I have the most up to date version from the OTA update in the program.
The program links in my StartUp folder are: poutlook (original on ROM), sddaemon (original on ROM), WLMUpdate (original on ROM), Glossybars.exe (I added this), biotouch.exe (I added as I thought CR killing this was the source of the problem), pocketwit.exe (I added), and SIPChange (I added).
One thing I did do was delete the link for TouchPal from the Startup folder. I did this for other reasons (I use FingerKeyBoard). Not sure if this was part of the problem.
I can scroll with d-pad and no touch lag.
On a side note, can I delete any of poutlook, sddaemon, or WLMUpdate from the startup folder to save battery power?
I'm probably just a bit above a newb so sorry if I don't make sense.
Update: Just for kicks, I deleted the links for glossybars.exe and pocketwit.exe from my StartUp and it started locking again after running CleanRAM. I put them back in and it works again even after running CleanRAM. Maybe someone with more knowledge can explain this. I'm just keeping it the way it is now...
Hmm weird that you removed something not very important like pocketwit an cleanram caused problems again.. someone has to have some info on this??
I deleted everything from my StartUp folder but my SPB Mobile Shell.. I didn't have sddaemon, but I did have poutlook and WLMUpdate both of which I deleted.. then I had some other programs that aren't necessary for the phone.. I have no problems on restart or anything, and the % showed being used is stays around the 30's now instead of 40s/50s.. and when I run programs it usually reachs 50% tops now instead of 60/70% I used to get.
PS: Pocketwit isnt bad I used to praise the program but now I've tried MoTweets and.. I can't think of the other one now.. ****.. it's really good though but it seems to use a lot more phone power than MoTweets so I went back to that.
Pocketwit kept giving me problems, started saying I need to install that NET 3.5 or whatever but when I try to it says I have a later version already so it won't install, then other times it'll work completely fine.. but MoTweets I like better anyways
Ok, I give up. I restored everything to the way I had it when it was working and now I'm having problems again. After the screen turns off and I turn it back on, it locks up and won't scroll and has the touch lag issue.
Hope someone figures this out. Shouldn't have messed with success. Good luck.

I'm not using the TouchFLO interface, does that mean its still on though?
I'm not completely up on understanding all this
This was happening with Vin's Rom for me as well. I was tripping out pressing ON so many times with no screen showing up but phone light on! I believe it could be the power settings. I disabled the "Turn off device" which I believe was mentioned in his notes about the rom.
I gave up on this problem for a while but found something when researching how to disable to cube. I used the registry edit in this thread to disable to cube post #69. I didn't do any of the other steps because I'm not having memory probs (42% with pocketwit in the bckgrd).

I noticed that biotouch.exe never shows up in the running processes menu in CleanRAM and I don't have the "lock/freeze" scrolling problem any longer and I can run CleanRam without the problem occurring. I can press any item on the screen as well with no delayed response.
However, this stops you from being able to finger scroll and do the "side to side" scroll in Messaging. I never really finger scrolled and prefer using the d-pad for scrolling so losing that functionality isn't a big deal to me.
If anyone can figure out how to keep this working so smooth and have the option to finger scroll, I'd be much obliged. It just seems that biotouch.exe craps out sometimes and locks up the d-pad. If they could both work equally well....
