Can it be ported? A friend of mines had the epic claims to save battery alot was just wondering

What is it, a task killer? You definitely don't need one and it won't help your battery life.
No the epic it's like a widget made by samsung for the epic worlds good better than task killer

You want to say that in English??? To stay ontopic, any kind of task killer on anthing Android is not recommended.

If anything, the fact that the Epic runs an AMOLED screen is what causes it to have decent battery life. On the other hand, a task killer isn't really useful for Android. There are some who'd probably disagree. That's fine. I'd still encourage you to check out this article: http://geekfor.me/faq/you-shouldnt-be-using-a-task-killer-with-android/ which should outline in detail why task killers aren't necessary.
If you do run into a locked up program and really want to rage against the machine and force quit it, do the following:
Tap 'Menu' -> 'Settings' -> 'Applications' -> 'Manage Applications'.
Tap the 'All' or 'Running' tab. Find your program and tap it.
There should be a 'Force Stop' button in there.
Yeah...bit of a maze to find it, I believe Android 2.3 will add a "Running Applications" button to the popup menu that you get when tapping the 'Menu' button.
If you're STILL set on getting a task killer, try checking out Advanced Task Killer on the market. You can also do a search here: http://www.androlib.com/r.aspx?r=task+manager
OP, the widget can't be ported to a ROM that does not run Samsung's TouchWiz UI.
That was much harder than it should have been.

Sir toast, if you feel this is in the wrong place, please do move it. I debated here or themes, however it seemed more like a dev task to me and all the QnA threads about this just seem to trickle off..
So here goes. As you may have noticed, we lost lockscreen wallpaper selection when we upgraded to the evo.
I'm asking if any dev out there if it would be possible to pull that option from say the hero and implement it into the evo.
Anybody know if it would be possible or even if there is a high enough demand for it that someone might want to try?
My favorite way of accomplishing this is to use WidgetLocker from the Marketplace. A terrific app.

I've used it, its good, but I enjoy the htc lock as well as not running an app as my lockscreen. I would be more be interested in implementing this without an app.
I would be very interested in this actually. I thought it an odd choice to take away that functionality in the first place.

i'm going to have to second this motion.
Alright so im no developer, so this is why im offering this idea up.
Personally, im starting to hate Android...Im having some serious webOS envy. I know I know, just switch, or blah blah blah. I love the whole gesture based UI. So I was wondering..on the Inc the capacitive touch layer of the screen extends down to right around the bottom of the home-menu-back-search keys. (You can see by downloading some multi-touch tester and dragging your finger down there, it will read that your Y-Position is something like 820 or something.) So right above the trackpad in the middle of the soft keys is a blank spot. Would it be possible for you to change that so there is some sort of invisible soft button, that when you swipe up or tap it launches a user specific app? I would probably put some sort of app-switcher there, or well I dont actually know. But if this is possible, it would be really freaking awesome imho. Thoughts?
have you tried using adw or launcherpro...they have gesture ui, and you can change them also...ie, cm6. sense doesn't that I know of.

Cm6 has lockscreen gestures. Haven't looked into them myself but may be a place to look...
I know those launchers have gestures but what I mean is a new soft key in the middle if the menu and back key

Why not remap the trackpad?
I understand maybe a invisible button could be cool, but its useless. So is the track pad, but the trackpad can be remapped
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Well what if u made it to where swypeing left or right or down or up on the optical joystick opened apps of your choice while on the homescreen... or is that what were already talking about?
Well the track pad is not use less. I use it on a normal basis. Maybe for you having an invisible button would be use less but for me it would not. To each their own.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
No that's not what I was thinking of, rather the area above the track pad. That's a good half inch Of wasted space.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Oh I see, yea that is a good idea, yea I'd like to see that
The question is, what applications would you match to that area?

Well there are hundreds of task managers available for android. I like ICS' stock (Hold the home button) it provides a snap of what the foreground activity is and allows you to swipe left or right to "dismiss" (NOT KILL) the app.
As far as task killers go, you clearly are a noob xD lol jpjp task killers are a no no for android. Well the automated ones. It actually causes wake locks and kills battery. If you are having memory problems. look up androids minfree values. They are the best way to control apps that remain dormant.
Hope i helped!

Try AutoKiller from the market https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rs.autokiller
I'm on my 5th android phone and I've ran hundreds of ROM's between them. I usually go back to advanced task killer for it's simplicity.
BUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTT you should do what do, monitor which apps automatically restart and make sure those are not checked off. Shutting those down only causes you to drain more battery than if you leave them be, but for me the rule of thumb is any game or non essential app that refuses to shut down, gets UNINSTALLED and replaced with something that plays nice
If you're rooted I would recommend minfree manager from the market.

Does anyone know where I can find the Task Manager that is included with the ICS ROMS for the Epic 4G Touch.
in the app drawer. Not trying to be a smartass. Or go to system settings. Then manage apps. Are you trying to close apps or delete them?

I would like to remove the long press menu "kill app" feature in the custom rom I'm running. It removes the search phone function that I prefer over the kill app feature. A lot of roms doing it now. Any help would b appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

MOAR gives you the option to set double tap home to launch google now.
Sent from a planet far far away.
Or you could just install Nova Launcher and swipe up, swipe down, etc to launch Google Now.
I just wanna remove it from the ROM. Thanks for the help and suggestions.

I'd love to get rid of it too.. Frequently part of my finger will press it unintentionally.. Quite irritating when I'm playing Modern Combat 4.

Hmm...When I'm on my home screen and hold the menu button it still launches google search/now, I'm using the stock launcher. Maybe I'm misunderstanding? Anyhow I don't know how to make it work normal, but maybe asking your rom dev very nicely will bring about a fix for you.:good: Honestly I love the kill app feature.

Way off topic so please excuse me, just like to ask what's your player name? Curious if I've played against you on mc4, I got a bit crazy and ordered the new moga controller the other night, hope it's as good as I've heard.
I already tried asking the Dev but nothing. I'm getting used to it already so it's not bothering me as much
